Questions for your Breast Cancer Specialists:
    1. Am I going to die of breast cancer?
    2. What is the percentage chance I could die in the next 5 years?
    3. Do factors like “triple negative receptors” or “HER2-positive receptors” or “my youth” make my chance of dying higher than the average statistics?
    4. Will I die of breast cancer?
This is a difficult question to answer early in your cancer care but it is still worth asking. Many people just diagnosed with cancer have no idea how much of a risk to their life their unique situation poses. Most breast cancers carry a low risk of recurrence, especially early stage cancers. The answer is usually reassuring.
What is the chance I could die in the next 5 years?
The average 5-year survival rate for all people with breast cancer is 89%. The 10-year rate is 83%; and the 15-year rate is 78%. If the cancer is located only in the breast (Stage I), the 5-year survival rate is 99%. More than 70% of breast cancers are diagnosed at an Early Stage.
All survival statistics are primarily based on the stage of breast cancer when diagnosed. Some of the other important factors are also listed below that affect survival.
    Breast Cancer Stage is important:
    Non-invasive breast cancer
Stage 0 breast cancer can be also described as a “pre-cancer.” If you have DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In-situ) you can be quite confident you will do well. DCIS does not spread to other organs. What can be concerning is when an invasive cancer grows back in the area of a prior lumpectomy for DCIS. This type of local recurrence does carry a risk to your life. Luckily, this does not happen frequently. Also, be aware that those who have had DCIS in the past are at a higher risk for developing an entirely new, invasive breast cancer. Take our video lesson on “Non-Invasive DCIS“ (here) to learn more.
    Early Stage “Invasive breast cancer“
Stage I invasive breast cancer has an excellent survival rate. The chance of dying of Stage I breast cancer within five years of diagnosis is 1 to 5% if you pursue recommended treatments.
Stage II breast cancer is also considered an early stage breast cancer. There is a slightly increased risk to your life versus a Stage I breast cancer. Altogether, the risk of Stage II breast cancer threatening your life in the next 5 years is about 15%.
Later-Stage breast cancer (more advanced cancer)
Stage III breast cancer has a higher risk to your life, with a 72% survival at 5 years. There are many individual and tumor specific factors that can change this survival rate.
Inflammatory breast cancer is a more worrisome Stage III breast cancer. Overall, the 5-year survival rate for inflammatory breast cancer is about 50%.
Stage IV breast cancer means that the cancer has spread beyond the breast to other organs or parts of the body. These metastases are not viewed in general to be curable. The treatment is aimed at helping people live longer with their cancer. This is the type of cancer carries up to 75 to 80% risk of dying within five years.
What tumor factors threaten my life more?
There are important “tumor biology” factors not well reflected in survival statistics by breast cancer “stage.” Below we list a few important factors that carry a higher risk to life beyond just the stage of cancer.
    “Triple Negative Receptor” breast cancer
Triple negative breast cancer is considered a more aggressive breast cancer. Invariably it does require chemotherapy. If you have a triple negative breast cancer the risk of dying is higher than the standard statistics usually quoted for a particular stage of breast cancer (Stage I - IV). Learn more about “Triple Negative Breast Cancer“ with our video lesson (here)
    “HER2-Positive” breast cancer
HER2-positive breast cancers are also more aggressive tumors. But the good news is that we now have incredibly effective, targeted chemotherapy and immunotherapy for HER2-positive cancers. Our video lesson covers “HER2-Positive Breast Cancer“ in more detail (here).
    Untreated breast cancer
Untreated breast cancer obviously carries a higher risk of death than those who undergoing treatment. All survival statistics are based on breast cancer that underwent recommended treatment such as surgery, endocrine therapy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. If you elect to not undergo standard treatment options, your chance of survival will be lower than the standard statistics for survival by stage.

It has NOT spread to the lymph nodes or other organs. Some metastatis is noticed in bones. She is on 2.5 mg Fempro, and within 3 weeks of medication has shown remarkable improvement, with only minor side effects. Her Oncologist has recommended Ribociclib, which is prohibitively expensive, and totally unaffordable without insurance.

A healthy diet leaning on the organic vegetarian approach is felt best for general health and cancer of all types. Everything in moderation. Will create a video lesson on this topic in the future. Thanks for asking.

I’m researching juicing greens with a quality juicer. The cure is to nourish the tumors at a cellular level, which can only be extracted by juicing.
Enabling and enhancing the quality as well as the quantity of greens than by eating directly.
Juicing also maintains all of the nutrients rather than cooking.
      Raw, raw raw!!! Bon appetite:)

Depending on the level my mom has level two so she had to do chemo for about 6 months then she had to do a surgery either dissectomy or lumpectomy and then they’ll test the tissue and if there is still cancer you could have to do 14 more rounds of chemo but it’s less intense but if you don’t have cancer you won’t have to do that

yea, nowadays...if you have anything other than TNBC you'll be doing fine if you catch it early enough.
TNBC and 'regular' (hormone or HER2 positive) breast cancer should not be compared with eachother to be honest.

    • @lorilewis4447
      @lorilewis4447 4 года назад +2

It could be. That was the only sign I had. I thought a pain here and there was from aging. My little 17 year old teacup Abbey rested her little head on my left breast and gave me the saddest look. It scared me. I took a shower and saw the dent. I called the doctor and made an appointment for a mammogram and ultrasound. Dr. had to order the ultrasound. Then I had biospy done. I have cancer in my left breast. Invasion ductal breast cancer. There are three tumors. I am fixing to have surgery and chemo. Please get checked. I hope you don't have cancer.

Well with breast cancer issues a lot of money is involved. My mum has being diagnosed of breast cancer stage 3.and the first surgery has been done which cost us alot but we still need more money for rediothraphy and stuff. So breast cancer treatment is very expensive. As human as we are we wish this sickness never exist.

The biggest threat to cancer survival, regardless of "stage" and regardless of "tumor factors", is failure on the part of doctors like this one to recognize and promulgate the role of the high-fat high-cholesterol Standard American Diet (SAD) in causing (yes, Causing) cancer and failure to promote the benefits of unprocessed plants-only oil-free diet before it's too late (in other words, regardless of "stage" or "other factors"). Your risk is far higher, regardless of "stage", if you remain on the SAD. These doctors are fixated on treatment and oblivious to cure. Explore his Breast Cancer School for Patients. You will not find one word about diet there. Their silence on this is shameful; the establishment medical community is has become a business; there's no profit in getting people healthy. But at least you have this heads-up, hopefully before this comment is edited out, and can learn on your own.

I am diagnose of breastcancer stage IV on june 2016, never get a surgery here in Suriname, only chemotherapy, now in 2020 I take pills Anastrozol once a day and Metformine twice a day. How I live my life is consuming more vegetables and fruit than
fish or meat. How more bitter the vegetable, how better. Using bitter melon daily is for me living as I am in a good heath.Just try to eat a bitter melon, or making smooties with all kinds of vegetables, you'll notice by yourself .

I knew I had breast cancer for 3 years, NHS ignored my symptoms even after my dog was indicating I had breast cancer. After 3 years of returning to clinic annually I demanded a biopsy when once again they told me it was normal. I had the biopsy, few days later the call came to return to clinic. I had a 73 mm ilc. 8 months later I had surgery after taking letrozole which failed to reduce tumour size. I had radiotherapy and a booster ss 1 lymph node was positive. I changed clinics as trust had gone. What is possibility of distance mets given the size of tumour.
