    Great backstory, Adam.
Interestingly, I learned as a kid what "Dirty Laundry" referred to, probably around the time the song came out.
I believe I was in Sixth Grade and heard it on the school bus, which was tuned to the local hit station.
I am going to say that I spent half my adult life working in the Broadcast News Industry as a Writer, Reporter and News Anchor.
I will say that most of the staff who don't get face time -- Writers, Control Room Staff, Background and Ancillary Staff -- are pretty down to earth people.
But unfortunately, there IS an Ego-Driven thing going on with a lot of people who are on camera.
And depending on their organization, it becomes a bit of an Ego-Driven Cabal when you see certain veterans of the industry gathering together for a particularly big story.
In other words: if you're from a lower-level broadcaster, the bigger fish will pay little attention to you and even look down their noses at you, UNLESS you assert yourself, as I often did.
    BUT...
    And this is important...
The real veterans -- the top guys and gals -- are some of the most humble, grateful and accessible people.
I had the opportunity to spend the first 6 months of my broadcasting career at Canada's national broadcaster.
Their top news anchor was known all across the country. I used to see him in the elevator in the mornings.
HE would greet me with a hello, how are you FIRST, before I could say anything to him.
I also once had a job interview at their main competition. The news anchor -- a veteran female reporter -- was equally gracious to me that day.
Meanwhile, it was the "bubble-headed young ladies" who would come in wearing short skirts, low blouses, and high heels to try to gain eyeballs.
And, as we have seen, the concept of Dirty Laundry has been taken to extremes, where news media has created such a reality distortion field that it has caused mental health issues and division among people.
FYI: Since getting laid off from the industry on November 28, 2011 I've never looked back.
I will never again work for an industry that contributes nothing but constant misery and that has such a striking lack of integrity.
Keep up the great work, Adam. I greatly enjoy your videos!

I can think of several celebrities that had ruined reputations when they were juveniles. They then grew into adulthood fulfilling those reports. Sad that young people with lots of hopes and dreams can be manipulated that way. Glad Don, Glen, and the rest of The Eagles lineup took to the solo route for those 14 years before reuniting. Gave us individual views and creativity of each. And a reason to believe that something good can come from Hell freezing over.

after years of listening to all of the members and the circus that ensued, I’m definitely in the Don Felder camp. he seems like a decent humble guy, unlike Fry and Henley. In the Eagles documentary, you could see the complete arrogance of both Henley and Fry. They just seemed like pretentious jerks. Not to mention, Henley and his escapades with underage girls and cocaine painted quite a picture of him so it’s amusing to hear him speak of “ dignity “. You throw a party, you should know everyone there because you’ll be held accountable if something goes down. Then he wants to blame it on a police set up? 😂 It’s the ole’ stupid games stupid prizes analogy. Was never really a fan of any of the Eagles solo works other than Joe Walsh. A few of Henley’s things were OK, and Felder never really put out much other than the stuff on the heavy metal soundtrack, which was pretty good, and didn’t like Glenn Fry’s solo stuff at all. All that being said, the Eagles are still one of my favorite all-time bands. When I was a little kid in the early 70s I discovered them and I’ve been a fan ever since. I use to consider the Eagles America’s version of the Beatles as far as iconic artists. That still may be the case, but Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are right up there as well.

When you look closer at Henley's body of work, numerous songs were written for him by other artists, and it helps make the case for Frey's body of work. It's easy to just crown Henley and forget that for a few years (84-85), Frey was by far the leader of the pack. Frey's "Smuggler's Blues" is a masterful song which exploded onto the scene with it's corresponding Mtv video and episode on Miami Vice, which if I remember...was the most watched show at the time. Glen Frey was on fire at one point with "The Heat is On", "You Belong To the City", and "Sexy Girl" which were all over the radio and Mtv.

I knew this was gonna be about Dirty Laundry and it’s even more interesting to me bc I just quoted it literally yesterday…at the time I’m watching this video and writing this comment, the murder of those 4 students in Moscow, Idaho is all over the news, and just incessantly so.
I’ve been watching a little here and there - there are at least 2 other interesting cases going on at the same time (Murdaugh and Daybell…I’m interested in all the court proceedings, so I end up coming across different segments on all these stories) - and I noticed the salacious glee w which people on the news are reporting on this tragic case.
I also noticed how the same “expert commentators” appear on every segment of every show on every network chatting away about this awful case and I thought, “My god, how much money these people must be making off these murders”…and Dirty Laundry just popped into my mind…
“…a gleam in her eye…”, “…it’s interesting when people die…”, and “…when it’s said and done, we haven’t told you a thing…” are some of the lyrics that came to mind…
Of course, I have to say that the media consuming public - yes, including me - is partially responsible for all of this…if we didn’t watch all this crap 24/7, we wouldn’t need these people, but that’s a topic for another day, I suppose.
The only criticism I have of the song is the line about the “bubble headed bleached blonde”…it smacks of misogyny that perhaps really wasn’t a thing back then but which has not aged well…otherwise, omg…what a fantastic song…love it!!!
It’s sad the The Eagles broke up but man did we get some seriously amazing music from its members as a result!!! Thanks for yet another great video, and - at least for me - so timely!!! Wishing you all the best, Prof!!!
