Love love love these cigars….. these (and Trinidad Reyes) were my Autumn morning cigars when they were affordable (before the 100% price hike here in the U.K. they were about £18 each, now they’re closer to £40)! I bought many boxes of 10 (and a few boxes of 25) when they were available and affordable! Now I won’t buy them purely out of principle…. There’s no justification for doubling the price practically overnight…. For an extra couple of £’s I can buy a larger Cuban cigar like the Partagas P2, H Upmann magnum 50 or Montecristo Edmundo (where I live they’re around £44 each)….. Cuban robustos/ hermosa no.4’s are around £30 each, petite coronas around £20, perlas (slightly smaller than the secretos) around £15….. it’s a shame because the cohiba secretos is an amazing little cigar
I got a Maduro 5 genios from Cuba, I think about 4 years ago, old wrapper, been aging since then. Guessing by the fact that it's an old wrapper, I'd say it has a minimum of 10 years of age on it by now. I've been meaning to smoke it for a while, but can never really bring myself to light it.
Just had one of these 2 weeks ago. Mine was perfectly constructed, and had a really smooth complex taste. Loved it, though i dont normally like Cohibas. However, mine was aged for sn additional 3 years.
when a wrapper burns from the outside it needs to be kept in the humidor for a much longer time when the humidity is high it burns from the inside more than the outside unfortunately and second a cigar that small even if the draw is decent if you smoke it to quickly it will tend to block for example cigars that small i have realised to actually smoke them no less than an hour sometimes even an hour and a half
Leave the others alone for a good while before trying again. It sounds like it befuddled you and sometimes you gotta smoke a cigar more than once to figure it out. Cigars are an acquired taste, and so can marcas be in my experience. I know we associate maduro with full body, but does it have to be? Maybe it does, I dunno. It was interesting, I never smoked that one and I think maybe if I wanted maduros, my instinct would be to look in a different direction than Cohiba. I'm not really a maduro guy, but variation is definitely a good thing none the less.
After conversing with some very seasoned smokers it seems like the consensus is that these Cohiba maduro cigars just have a very distinct and different flavor not aligned with any non-Cuban maduros. A very interesting cigar for sure!
I read in cigar aficionado that cuban maduros were very common in the pre embargo days, and also i think the cohiba maduro doesn't have the distinctiv cohiba taste in my opinion, great video!
Connecticut and Pennsylvania broad leaf wrappers have a unique flavor profile. They are usually maduro in color. I don't think this cuban maduro wrapper leaf is broad leaf hence the different flavor profile

Jeg har 2 stykker liggende i Tupperware for 7 måneder nå. Har hatt blandet følselse av å prøve 1. Tror du den blir bedre av å bli liggende en stund?
I need this guy’s content in my YT feed. Thx
