Cyle Schafer they answered that in the first episode of season 2. Liv couldn't give blood to save her brothers life because she didn't want to turn him into a zombie. Her family didn't know that and thought she was being heartless and letting her brother die so they basically cut her out of their lives.

As much as I like the Liv/Major pairing, I admit that I am a Blaine/Liv 'shipper at heart. I wish "Bliv," had happened! It's certainly better than that (Ugh! Gag!) horrible Peyton/Blaine pairing we were given.
I ship Liv and Peyton together even tho I do love Liv and Major 😭 but i'm ngl, that "I would jokingly support [ Liv/Peyton ]" comment was really offensive and unnecessary...
