  • In this one I teamed up with Ed The Pond Professor and Aquascape to set up an AquaGarden Mini Pond. I don't know about you, but I think it turned out extremely well! I really like how much of a feature the waterfall portion of the design is and I enjoy how the light shines through. What do you think?
Long-term I want to add plants to the water area as I eluded to in the video. However, I didn't have anything that I thought would look appropriate in this setup. I wish I would of had a few taller plants (like syngonium), but I could always add those later on as well.
Also, what should I stock it with? I want you to decide! Leave your best suggestion in the comments for something suitable for a setup of this size. I'll take the best/highest liked suggestions and do a poll in about a month.

It's so difficult to compare the two builds. I LOVE your miniature fantasy. The sense of scale while maximizing the space that you had and the diversity of plants wins me over. However, I've been brainstorming for months on how to make essentially a self contained water feature like this one within the 150g vivarium I am building, and Ed's build was greatly inspirational to me on how I can incorporate a pre-made system like this naturally into my vivarium without looking like I just placed a bowl in a tank. However, your hardscaping is much preferable to me to hide all of the inside components. Ultimately I like yours more because you perfectly meshed the working-within-the-means, and hiding the behind-the-scenes hardware.
If you ever actually see this comment, I've love to show you what I'm brainstorming and have a conversation on methods. I've been so inspired by your page and watch it every day.

I like what both of you did with the kit. No real preference. If I lucky enough one, I think mine would be a mixture of the two. I like the ease of installation on Ed’s but I like “naturalizing” the spillway as you did.
For stocking, I think from above red fish are attractive and easier to see. How about rescuing some red rosy minnows, which are usually sold as feeder fish. You’ll need to dose feeder fish, but the mini pond is already a quarantine tank.

wow, very beautiful, i like ur design more, because it’s clear where the boundaries of the system are, u hid the inner structures and kept the outer faces of the pot showing like its wrapping a closed microcosmic lake. Whereas Ed, although it looks interesting, he wanted to extend the boundaries with a drift wood, but he didn’t hide the pot (the plastic surfaces), which doesn’t give a feel of one wrapped system but interrupted, it’s like when u find plastic waste in nature.

Another gorgeous creation! The water fall is the cherry on top. ...as for stocking it Im new to this but all I envision are orange goldfish or
small kio to pop out against the darker water foliage? Look forward to what you have in mind. Ed's is really nice as well. I like the display around the pond but his pond is a little thin on substance, it leaves alot of brown pond exposed. I prefer they way you try and hide as mush of the container as possible making it look more natural.

Dude, that hard scape is amazing. I actually think it overflowing and you having to remove a couple of stones was a blessing.

Awesome job. You really went all out for this beautiful pond. I like how the waterfall goes in different directions. I really like all the rocks you used the shelf you made and of course the plants.

At least Tanner is surrounded by beautiful terrarium, ponds, and etc. to keep him busy and relax. Also...those are some long scientific name for such aquatic plants. Ima stick with the easy names XD

I think the final result is incredible, although I agree with you in having taller plants in background would be great in sense of perspective.

Just started watching you. Love your ponds. Can you show what they look like after they've been up and running for awhile, like say a year later? Or even a few months, to show how they look filled in and growing.

You focused on the actual pond where as Ed focused on the pond surroundings. Bravo!

I used to believe I killed every plants I bought but I discovered your awsome channel and I tried to make some terrariums. All of them weren't a success but I had enough thriving it gave me some reason to continue. Now one of my first is maybe 3 years old and still there. Sometimes I even make one for a friend.
I loved what you did with this mini pound and maybe you could put some anubias and water hyacinth, I really like when you use some of them. And maybe some euonimus (? Not sure, I remember a little bush with silver leaves) and ferns?

Dude you take this kit to another level! I've watched Ed's video as well. I think you guys both have your own styles. I think his would be better to fill a larger patio or something outside. Your's however would really work for both and I like how compact and portable you made it fantastic work!
