Personally I think the Kindle DXG still the best among all others Amazon had made. With a big and clear screen, unlimited 3G, and full experience of PDF files, it is unbeatable. I currently own Kindle DXG, Kindle Keyboard both the WIFI & 3G, and Kindle Paperwhite. I used the DXG the most at home, the Keyboard at the office and outdoor, Paperwhite for my kids (to abuse). If anyone who like reading, Kindle is the best choice. With a lot of books to choose from, thousands books in one device, privacy (no one know what kind of book when you are reading in the public transportation), and all the helpful feature like bookmark, dictionary, and notes, etc. Yep, time to rethink of reading from papers and let the trees grow.
3G on the Kindle Touch does allow for web browsing. You can find it under the "Experimental" section of the main home screen menu. I have a Kindle Touch, and I use my web browser all the time.
While I like the design and look of the touch, but the Kindle 3 has better balance if that makes any sense. There's enough of a border for you to grab left and right, it feels more comfortable to hold.
For manga, I prefer tablets (ie the Kindle Fire) because there are apps that will automatically download the latest chapters, it's easier to zoom in and out. Asides from that, reading on a 6inch screen is tough for some of the more text heavy mangas. The latest Kindle Paperwhite's screen is a little sharper and helps immensely. But if you are looking at the older models, you should go with the DX. The DX does NOT have WiFi, just 3G, but it works for browsing just fine.
Scanned to pdf, ocr'ed -- I guess it would be text overlaying the pdf image. Thanks for your help. I couldn't find an answer to this specific question in the DX manual online.
You're right, I knew that. I worded my comment wrong..I meant that the Kindle Touch with 3G+WiFi does allow web browsing but only on WiFi...the way I heard you talking about it in the video, it seemed to me that you meant the device itself didn't even offer web browsing as a feature...guess I wasn't listening as closely as I thought. My bad.
While honestly I still like my Kindle Keyboard, it is getting more outdated by the day. Amazon has shown that it doesn't like to support older products and has abandoned the Kindle Keyboard already. The latest industry standard is ePub 3 and KF8 which the Keyboard does not support. It's true that at the moment, not too many books use it, but there are key features like the ability to embed charts and better image handling that will make it widely used very soon.
Naw it doesn't work on 3G, and I'm certain of that. You can use the web browser to browse of WiFi, but 3G is locked out. It's even in their product description.
I knew that...I just worded my comment wrong. What I should have said was you can browse the web on the Kindle Touch 3G+WiFi but only on WiFi. The way I heard you talking in the video seemed to me that you were saying you can't browse the web on the Kindle Touch at all, but you simply meant on the 3G. Guess I heard it wrong. My bad.
I am leaning toward kindle keyboard. but my friend has it and she said, with PDF file few words would be missed/ skipped?. Would that really happen? and why?
how do you rate the experience of reading manga on a 6 inch screen and on a 9 inch screen? does the kindle dx have wifi? 3g on DX and keyboard still works for browsing, or i need wifi for that?

Assuming the document is not just a scan but actual text in PDF format, then yes, it can search for words.
I really like the smaller touch models.

Yea I couldn't help myself, I'm certain I'll sell one of the smaller ones soon enough. Tough decision between the Touch and the Keyboard.

If you have a specific file to test, I'd be happy to try it out.
Yes I am
You need to have a jailbroken one to change the pictures from the default Amazon ones.
Can the DX Graphite search for specific words within a searchable PDF file?

oh wow , bakemonogatari and Index
good taste man.
It shouldn't, all PDF words would be there, just whether you have the patience or not to scroll left and right
OMG PV why do you have so many! I want one! :(
That would be great. How may I get it to you?
how do you rate the experience of reading manga on a 6 inch screen and on a 9 inch screen?
