The wife and I decided we needed a Beach cart as our trips to the beach become harder and harder with two young kids plus I have taken up surf fishing. We purchased the tires of amazon for $80 (12" Beach Wheels) and the hitch was purchased at Harbor Freight using a 20% coupon it was around $75 . I bought the 1/2" conduit at a electrical supply house for $10 and used it for the AXEL and the handle. I spent about $25 on pins at Tractor Supply. Leave your questions in the comments

WOW!...I’m sure glad I clicked on this. I already have the same hauler I customized for toting around a clay trap thrower. I’ve been thinking, once I have the funds, how am I gonna find a beach cart to fit inside my hauler...who knew, with a few more modifications I ALREADY HAVE a beach cart!!!
Thank you very much! GREAT IDEA...(wish I’d thought of it)!
glad it helped ya
This is brilliant bc it takes up no space in your vehicle. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for watching n the comment of encouragement
Get video! I made one of these too with the newer style cargo carrier. Thanks for the great idea man!
Thanks for the comment
Thanks. I needed something to carry Grandma around in.
IT WILL WORK
Thanks for the clear well explained video. Just ordered the cart from harbor freight, and can’t wait to build it out. Just in time to start pompano season .
Thanks for the encouragement
Way to go!!! planning on doing one after seeing what you did ..Thanks
Thanks for watching. I plan on doing a update once we go to the beach
@@BrileyWray great look forward to it enjoy the beach we're heading to Florida this weekend can't wait!
I like your work table, an old spool! When I was single, I had spool end tables, coffee table and dining...2x12 entertainment center on blocks, etc...
Thanks. It makes for a nice large work table
Holy Shit! I can't thank you enough for sharing your idea. I've got a new project on my hands.
Hahaha get after it man.
Make sure you watch the update video where we took if out for the first time.
This is genius. I can’t wait to do this mod. I have been in the market for a cart. This is easily doable. Thanks for sharing
100% doable I hope i see someone with one of these everytime i visit the beach.
Thats cool ! Its so light that you cane even single handedly load it into your truck if there’s space in the bed
That's true. We usually use it to haul the family gear to the beach but if someone was just hauling a cooler and poles to fish it would be a peice of cake. I got another video coming showing how much weight/gear we haul with it.
Pretty cool. Kind of dual purpose which made this much cooler than a standard wagon. Great job
I agree! thank for watching
Planning a trip to Florida and have been wanting a cart for awhile looking forward to your update because this is brilliant.
Thanks alot.
Brilliant ideas. Starting on mine tomorrow.
Very nice
A buddy took two of those carriers and made a two tier pier cart for himself. at first he used two 20" bicycle size wheels and two casters but has since switched to four fixed 8" generator wheels. He made a recessed top lid that forms a tray on top, he found an aluminum baking sheet or pan that fit just perfect which drops right in place. (He lost the first one to the wind, so now that tray is hinged so it folds down flat on one side if needed.
He added a round 1" aluminum push handle set off the top frame about 4" or so and covered with foam padding so your hands don't stick to it in the cold. The top and bottom levels are spaced using aluminum tubing he tig welded in place..
The downside is the size of the cart, its dimensions are less than ideal for most cooler and tackle box combinations. His rod holders are PVC with the tops heated and flared outward. He also incorporated a parking spike of sorts that can be stepped into the ground or dropped between the boards on the pier to keep the wind from blowing it around.
@@VB-bk1lh very nice
This is a great idea! If/when I make mine I may drill holes vertically for the large pins. It seems like it may be easier to get them lined up.
You maybe correct
I like it. I had thought about buying one of those and adding the beach wheels then stumbled across your video!
Thanks for watching
Great video. I'm buying that cargo carrier tomorrow and going to make it.
Awesome glad you liked the idea
Been thinking of doing this exact build since I bought a small surf cart, thanks for the info.
Glad it helped it has served our family well
you beat me to this idea. great job!
Thanks 👍
exactly what i was thinkin
looks good
thanks
Fantastic job. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Awesome exactly what I was looking for. Tx
Thank you as well
You Sir, are a blaming genius.
Haha thanks glad u enjoyed it.
Awesome, man.... can't wait to try this
Thanks
Genius! Definitely gonna make one of these but with 4 wheels
go for it. thanks for the positive feed back
How do you plan to fabricate the front across
@@jessemurillo8223 you asking mike or me? I dont understand your question. To add another axel is very simple unless you want it to swivel.
@@BrileyWray so did u make it happen? How did it turn out?
@@zseven1419 the cart turned out great
this is nice and i had the older version reels on wheels cart it lasted over ten years before welds started breaking..lol i now have a wagon that ride on the Reece hitch ..lol out side the vehicle..has a crank handle to raise the cart up and down for hauling and is easy to pull in beach sand... and i put rod holders and replaced all hardware with stainless steel bolts ect ect..it will be sold along with my white 03 hummer h2 next year.. because im moving to a boat then and wont need a car any more.. love my hummer h2 but it about time to leave land for safer waters..where i can legally protect myself there is no such thing as murder out at sea....lol
Lol thanks for the nice words
That's brilliant!! Gonna try this build.
thanks for watching. let me know how your turns out
Make sure you watch the update video where we took if out for the first time.
I was just thinking about a design like this because I have a SUV. I want to unload the cart and slide it in the hitch. Great video thanks for posting!
thanks for watching
Cool! Great job. I'm making mine into the same as yours. God bless.
awesome let me know if you have any questions
@@BrileyWray thank you!!!
Thank you I was trying to figure out how to build a cart thought to my self wheel barrow how do I put it in the bed or store it ... this is kiss keep it simple ... gonna do one with a lift kit though.
Thank you
You are so welcome!
Dang...i cant find this style cart with the pinned receiver tube insert. My thought is to get a slightly longer section of tubing, and then you wouldn't have to remove the wheels to install it on the hitch.
Yeah that would work. I also remove my wheels to keep someone from stealing them or dragging them on the road in and out of parking lots
Genius. Wow
Thanks
Now you have me wanting to build one. Could you drill a hole in the tube that goes into your receiver, and, put a bolt or hitch pin in it to act as a stop when you slide the cart on there? That way the holes for the hitch pin that holds the cart on will line up. If you did that, you wouldn’t have to slide the cart back and forth trying to line up the holes in the cart/receiver tube.
yeah that wouldn't be a bad idea. a simple screw would probably work. I may try that. We only go to the beach 3-5 times a year so i don't use it as much as someone who lives on the coast might.
@@BrileyWray Where did you get your wheels? If you said in the video, I didn’t catch t.
@@drkrm amazon "12" beach wheels"
I realize this is an old video. However, I think if you pick up a hitch extender, you might be able to leave your wheels on. Nice job.
Thanks for the tip!
Great build
Thanks
I did your build with a few mods. Did you have any issues with it sitting so low? Headed down to the gulf tomorrow so we’ll see what happens.
Occasionally going over curbs or off wooden ramps onto the sand it will drag but over all it hasn't been a issue. If I did it again I might look at raising it up some but hasn't been worth messing with right now
What length and size extension for receiver, how you know where to drill hole?
I'm confused to what your asking about?
Hey, thank you for this video! Please tell if the cart itself is heavy? I wonder if the stand and numerous rivets would be prone to rust? I'm thinking about building a lightweight cart for our beach furniture and accessories, just don't want to make it too heavy...
It's not heavy at all. The screws and rivets are aluminum or stainless steel so no rusting
@@BrileyWray Thank you! Please tell if tires normally come with all necessary items like shaft, pins, spacers etc?
the tires do not. they once come with tires. I use 1/2 alumni conduit for the axel.
@@BrileyWray Thank you!!
In an effort to have the tires hold all the weight not me…..
If I were to add two more tire for front would I need tie rod and rear axle position further back.
I still believe even with the biggest sand tires and perfectly designed beach cart, you’re really gone to need something motorized to take the work and struggle out of getting to the beach.
I pull this beach cart fully loaded 1/4 mile down the beach no problem. A second set of tire would help. A motor would definitely make it effortless.
Awesome!!!
thanks
Will you tell me please, where did you purchase the wheels and tires? I really want to make this cart!
Amazon. Look in the comments below I think I put the actual name
Would you mind posting a link to the wheels? And what diameter is the axle hole on the wheels?
StoreYourBoard Replacement 12 Inch Balloon Wheels Kayak Dolly and Sand Carts, Big Beach Buggy Inflatable Tires a.co/d/9g2vrI5
I think it might say the hole dia on Amazon. But I used 1/2 "aluminum conduit as my axel so u could Google the od of that conduit the wheels fet perfectly on it.
@@BrileyWray Thanks I appreciate that! I ended up getting a set off of eBay that shipped earlier for the same price. Amazon said 22 mm axle hole to fit 20 mm axles but that’s about the same gap as a 3/4 in conduit. I’ll see how it turns out sometime soon.
Nice
Thanks
Curious to see what your handle looked liked.
i live in north Alabama so i don't get to use my cart but 5 times a year. I plan to do a update once i take it out this May and maybe give some updates if any.
Smart!!
thanks
Nice!!!!
thanks boss
@@BrileyWray 🤜🤛
Does the black long reciever come with the cargo carrier?
yes it does
holy crap this is Genius! Can you share links to the stuff you used?
the pins are from Tractor supply, tires are 12" beach wheels from amazon, and the cart is a harbor freight lugage rack, and i use 1/2" alumin conduit for the axel ...i hope this helps.
Do you realize that your hitch channel is mounted backwards? The reflectors should face to the rear when mounted on the truck.
No I never noticed that lol I guess I could put it on backwards next time.
How much waight gave u put on it??
Did u see the video of our first beach trip? Search harbor freight beach cart on my RUclips channel. We hauled two kids and all our beach gear ima guess and say 75-100lbs
@@BrileyWray rite on thanks im check it out
What did you use as an axel and how did you attach it?
1/2" aluminum conduit and u bolts
@@BrileyWray how much weight did you put on it, and do you have any concerns with the axle sagging?
@@jon7839 we have hauled both kids plus a full load of beach stuff and I don't worry about the axel on bit. The tires maybe but the axel is plenty strong enough. The tires have held up fine as well
@@jon7839 I have a update video of us taking it out for the first time on my channel you might watch it and see the load we put on it
How much for the ballon tires and what vendor?
Amazon I think they were around $80
@@BrileyWray can you tell us which brand it was and whether they have held up? Wheeleez claims their brand is superior to all the other Amazon tires.
@@spinn1 i think wheeleez has bearings and mine does not.

Are those wheels available at Harbor Freight?
no i ordered these on amazon " beach wheels"
Hey man who is the cart working out at the beach ?
look at the recent uploads . there is a update from when we took it out to the beach. thanks for watching.
Would you be willing to make and sell me one? I have the tires but need the cart/frame? How much? This is amazing
I'm sorry I'm not building them to sell.
So is that light weight?
Nevermind you answered my question. Now I'm ready for the beach 🏖️
Lol I'm ready to go too and try this thing out
