2024 now and this Moment was my very first smartphone and Android phone, bitter sweet memories with it, as it had a big flaw all of them had it, iti used to lose network signal and the only way to re connect was rebooting.... rocking the S24 Ultra now and Oh boy!! how technology has changed after 15 years
My first Android phone back in the day. I enjoyed how the data connection on this phone would randomly die, and required an airplane mode cycle or reboot to get it back.
i just bought this yesterday, and i love it, that being said, this is my 1st smart phone of any kind so i dont have to adapt from being used to something else. i personally preferred a physical kybrd , but it does have touch screen kybrd as well seeing thats what you like. my only complaint about it which is nothing major. when you go to share a picture, it has all kinds of options EXCEPT a link to share on facebook. you have to send your FB photos as an email attachment.
for the people who are saying "it drains my battery super fast!" ect. its because you need to take your phone into sprint and get it updated there. you cant do it threw the phone or anywhere else but at a sprint store. after that its great! had the phone for 1-2 months and aboslutely love it! suggest it to everyone!
This cell looks interesting to me. I was at the sprint store yesterday and I tried the Hero and I feel as its made for men only, us women like to keep our nails long and pretty, well it doesn't work if you have nails. So I would have to cut them off? I have always liked the keyboard specially since I text message a lot. So maybe this one will be better for me. My daughter wants the Hero.
I upgraded from a rooted version of this to a galaxy S3. Got it for $50 with a contract renewal on black friday last year. What a world of difference!!! Hard to believe this was considered a decent phone a few years ago. Barely had 200 mb of memory!!! The S3 has 2gigs!!! It served me well though for the time I had it and glad I held out on renewing my contract to snag up the S3 when I did.
i have one of those but i have a question: do you need the charger that comes with the phone to charge it because i dont have the charger no one will see this most likely but i might as well ask
It's not unreasonable to expect that you should be able to press anywhere on the space bar and get a space. Otherwise, they might as well just have put two space keys next to each other if you have to hit one edge or the other.
Thinking of getting this phone soon, but also wondering by September (thats when I can upgrade) if there will be a Moment 2? There have been rumors about it. Should I still get this phone by then or will it be outdated by then :P
you probably have to because I have the Blackberry Tour and i have 30 days to try it out, since you've had yours for a couple of months, you would have to pay for the moment. If you had it for less than 30 days, then you could trade it in, which im going to do for the moment... Did this help?
Is it me or did they do the separate edges on the spacebar due to the placement of the v and b keys? I had the samsung rogue and the placement of the v and b keys were rather odd to me. I think the buttons on the edges will make it easier to text.
what do you mean by "more" Are you referring to the Hero being a 1.6 over a 1.5?? Wont all of these Android phones be able to upgrade to the latest version?? What more does the Hero have?
Is there a setting I'm missing on mine? Whenever I get a call or a text from the previous day, there are no time labels. It just says "yesterday". It's not a huge deal, but I would like to know if there is a setting to turn this on and off, or if it's just a default. It's just helpful to remember time relations if you remember, "Oh, I was texting this person when I was______ What time was it?" That sort of thing. Please and thank you! (:
yooooooooooo me and my GF jus got the samsung moment phone. That thing is tight. been playing around with it today and that thing is smooth. it came with 1.5 . but we loving every minute of it. Sprint guy made a phone call, and made the sale for us. everyone who is thinking about buying the phone jus do it. IT rocks.
@DBZFEEND its to save battery life or something. my uncle got the update and said it's wonderful. i need to clear up my schedule to go in and get it myself
oh yea ur right! but that was two weeks ago, 1.6 is already been released and hero is upgradeable, so im saying this shoulda shipped with 1.6, it couldnt possibly hurt
MobileBurn: Why would the space bar through off the design of the keyboard that much, if the keys are comfortable can't you get used to it? Why do you think this item shipped with 1.5 when it has a bigger processor? To me that is suspicious, is there something lacking that it couldn't handle 1.6 or 2.0? I thought that the Iphone 3GS and the Palm Pre had the Cortex A8 processor which are the fastest processors currently on Cell phones, is this phone's processor faster? What about mpg4 performance
how do you lock this phone? and what kind of touchscreen phone with slideout keyboard should i get not the evo shift or the rumor touch.. im thinking this phone, intercept, or Transform whats the best one?
Really? To keep out dust. I never would have come up with that on my own. Of course I know why the cover is there. My point is that there are at least as many phones w/o covers, and yes, most Android devices so far require a daily charge if you are going to use it as its intended for web, email, background apps, etc.
Can you download apps? If you can't I probably won't get this. I've yet to go to a sprint store and test out the keyboard itself. Considering that B, and V aren't common keys, it probably won't be a problem.
Both nice devices but believe me i had both of those phones for 24 hours and i LOVE the hero. The moment isnt bad either but the hero can do wayy more. When it to two phones like that you wanna play with both and see which one youd prefer. Just go to the sprint store and sample em.
@youkids123 I have an intercept and it IS a smartphone. You are able to get wifi and a a large selection of apps. Great phone, nothing to realy complain about though.
you wouldnt do what? Return the Hero for this phone? I am thinking of doing the same or just buying the phone out right. I wish the Droid could be used on Sprint
The keyboard makes up for little, IMO. It's not a good keyboard. The OLED screen is pretty, but HTC Sense on an LCD screen is still pretty, and much more functional.
Just stay on ur home screen go to menu then go to add then shortcut then scroll down the list and look for messaging then just choose that and itll apear on ur home screen then if u want to drag it or place it somewhene on ur screen just press it for a few seconds until the phone kinda vibrates then just drag it.
I was considering this phone. I liked the processor. I couldn't get past that this phone only had Android 1.5 and the keyboard was supposed to be not that great. I went out and bought the Pre. I'm very happy. It has the Cortex A8 processor (same as Iphone 3GS) and is supposed to be the fastest available. The Cortex is a different processor architecture, so the the 800 mhz in this phone may not be faster. Both the Android phones and Palm Pre phones are based on Linux. No looking back for me.
Can anybody help me decide what I should get. I want the EVO but it's on back order. I currently have the Palm Pre. Should I keep my Pre or get the Moment?
so let me get his straight, the moment is shipping with Cupcake(1.5) while the hero shipped with Donut(1.6) and htc Sense ui? Why is the Moment not shipping with 1.6 or even 2.0 for that matter? That really peeves me -_-. Well will it at least be upgradeable to 1.6?
I'm really considering getting this phone, but I really want to know if it's ever gonna get the upgrade to Android 2.0?! I really like that free navigation app. on the Droid. . anyone know ?!
If the space bar has two sensors, I wonder what the chances are of key-mapping the left side to "B" and the right side and "B" to "space"? Does the mis-placed "B" key bother anybody else, or just me?
i have a pre and im just looking at alternatives. i really do like my pre, but it MURDERS your battery and the keyboard is a little small. On the upside its totally configurable and you can load homebrew apps.
get the moment but if i were you id look at the hero to. you can customize the hero like it was made for you. its awesome. but its all touch, no keyboard. the hero has 7 screens while the moment has 3. I think if you go to best buy you can get the moment and hero for 99 each (with a plan of course)
I got this about a year ago and in October of last year, the charging port got messed up and now it's just screwed up. That's pretty much the only problem I had with this. Otherwise, it's pretty good.
I got this phone, friend of mine got it and i saw what it could do compared to my old Blackjack 2 which was a good phone till it crapped out. But I recommend if you were to get this phone, get the simply everything plan, the Moment is MEANT for the simply everything plan.
no it is not it does not have a track ball it does not have a search button (not a big deal) it does not have the htc sense on top of it like the hero i go on and on but you get the idea
i just got this phone and i am wondering how many songs everybody can hold on it. i can only get about 450 and im wondering if im doing it right? please let me no
yea i had a hero got rid of that for the sexy moment. I do not regret losing all the lag at all. only thing i miss is the charging cord idk why but it felt alot better to probably cause i had about 4 htc phones before i moved to the moment
i have the Moment. I bought this phone yesterday and so far its pretty cool. The only problem I have, I cant get the battery cover off. Push and slide away from the camera lens. Bastard wont slide..lol
hey guys im gettin a new fone in a week and i just wanted to know if i shud get this phone or the samsung insticnt s30...please help me i really need to know
the moment is good dude, 800 MHz processor, no phone on the market beats that. AMOLED display on the moment. Best display you can get wirh 16.7 million colors. this phone might not have the best attractive look but it the has the interiors of a Ferrari compared to other phones
Mobileburn: I opted for the Palm Pre, I liked the processor of the Samsung Moment, but I couldn't stand that this device only comes with Android 1.5, that is ridiculous. I didn't want the Hero because it's processor is inferior to the Palm Pre's (and Iphone's) Cortex A8 processor. I'm happy.
can you make a video just about text messaging and how to add messaging to your home screen because i love to text and i dont no how to get messaging on my home screen so i can just touch the messaging shortcut and just start texting and if i dont no how to do that then i have to slide up the thing and scroll down to messaging every time i want to text and i want to be able to just click so if you can can you just make a long but short video all about text messaging and label it text messaging!!
I just got my Moment. Had it activated, worked fine.. Just changed the 2GB microSD card for a PNY 4GB Now all it will do is show a picture of a battery filling up :(
2024 now and this Moment was my very first smartphone and Android phone, bitter sweet memories with it, as it had a big flaw all of them had it, iti used to lose network signal and the only way to re connect was rebooting.... rocking the S24 Ultra now and Oh boy!! how technology has changed after 15 years
Literally same I was 13 when I got it
My first Android phone back in the day. I enjoyed how the data connection on this phone would randomly die, and required an airplane mode cycle or reboot to get it back.
There is no question to me. I'm a hardware QWERTY guy in general, but the Hero is just that much better of a device.
Ahh...the days of the sliders. This was a great phone. So was the hero.
i just bought this yesterday, and i love it, that being said, this is my 1st smart phone of any kind so i dont have to adapt from being used to something else. i personally preferred a physical kybrd , but it does have touch screen kybrd as well seeing thats what you like. my only complaint about it which is nothing major. when you go to share a picture, it has all kinds of options EXCEPT a link to share on facebook. you have to send your FB photos as an email attachment.
You by far make the best reviews, sir. Once again mobileburn rules the reviews! THanks so much!
for the people who are saying "it drains my battery super fast!" ect. its because you need to take your phone into sprint and get it updated there. you cant do it threw the phone or anywhere else but at a sprint store. after that its great! had the phone for 1-2 months and aboslutely love it! suggest it to everyone!

So I would have to cut them off? I have always liked the keyboard specially since I text message a lot. So maybe this one will be better for me. My daughter wants the Hero.
I thought this phone was the best thing since cooked food when I got it.
i like that this one has a touch sensitive menu home and back button but i like the keyboard better on my motorola cliq
I upgraded from a rooted version of this to a galaxy S3. Got it for $50 with a contract renewal on black friday last year. What a world of difference!!! You need any old micro USB will do
@@Thechristianredd2012 k
Very good review. This guy knows his stuff.
Great review.
is this upgradeable to android 2.0?
The CDMA Hero which sprint has is not currently available with 1.6, but HTC is said to be working on it.
I think Im gonna get this phone over the summer. It looks really nice. how is the texting/messaging on this phone?
It's not unreasonable to expect that you should be able to press anywhere on the space bar and get a space. Otherwise, they might as well just have put two space keys next to each other if you have to hit one edge or the other.

This is the best phone ever. I got it for christmas and I've been playinh with it and it is sweet
i just got mine today, so stoked on it
trying to make a decision!! samsung moment or blackberry tour??
@kingkonggarden thanks... 1 more question lol... what is betta between the moment and the sanyo incognito?
you probably have to because I have the Blackberry Tour and i have 30 days to try it out, since you've had yours for a couple of months, you would have to pay for the moment. If you had it for less than 30 days, then you could trade it in, which im going to do for the moment... Did this help?
@kingkonggarden Why didn't you keep it. ANd if you traded it in what phone did you get?
Is it me or did they do the separate edges on the spacebar due to the placement of the v and b keys? I had the samsung rogue and the placement of the v and b keys were rather odd to me. I think the buttons on the edges will make it easier to text.
I’m here watching this because I found my moms first ever smart phone 😭👍
Same

i was thinking about getting this phone or the lg rumor touch (blue) for sprint... what r the pros and cons for each phone... thanks!!!
Hey Im torn between the Hero and the Moment...
Is the Moment a capacitive screen?
And can you put the sense ui on the moment?
You though wrong. It still has the lag switching through the 3 home screens too. So much for the faster processor.
TurboII FC FTW.
Is it built stronger than the Pre? Thinking of getting one.

Great review. Looks like a great smartphone.
@StormLightingMessier if you're talking abou the rumor its awesome , i loved it but idk about rumor2
this or the bb tour? i have a bb curve right now and i really like it but i kind of want to switch things up. help?
I am getting the intercept, but what is better, this or the intercept?
MobileBurn: Why would the space bar through off the design of the keyboard that much, if the keys are comfortable can't you get used to it? @nicolegrl19 thnx... is the space key really that bad?... its not a major problem to me i jus wanna kno
Yo, Mobile Burn. The HTC Hero is good, and I'ma let you finish, but the Samsung Moment is the best of all time! OF ALL TIME!!
Really? To keep out dust. I never would have come up with that on my own.

@MrJason135 You dont want it,its bulky and is real slow. Once you start putting apps on it,it goes to crap. It also is real hard to answer calls.
quick question, please answer. everyone says the battery life is terrible!!! what can u do to fix it cause im getting my moment in 1 day
Both nice devices but believe me i had both of those phones for 24 hours and i LOVE the hero. The moment isnt bad either but the hero can do wayy more. When it to two phones like that you wanna play with both and see which one youd prefer. Just go to the sprint store and sample em.

@badcatmcconell1324 The intercept is a smart phone. I do not know why every keeps saying it isn't.
@MrJason135 why dont u get the evo, epic 4g or intercept? they're better
Just stay on ur home screen go to menu then go to add then shortcut then scroll down the list and look for messaging then just choose that and itll apear on ur home screen then if u want to drag it or place it somewhene on ur screen just press it for a few seconds until the phone kinda vibrates then just drag it.

@milkdud911 go into messaging, open the menu and go to settings, scroll down and its at the very bottom. you can turn vibration on and off there
@JeffreyUnited you do realize it only has EVDO Rev. 0 right?
So, Hero or Moment? Im waiting for the Moment only to have the slide out keyboard, but if Hero is better, I will not get the Moment.
so let me get his straight, the moment is shipping with Cupcake(1.5) while the hero shipped with Donut(1.6) and htc Sense ui? Why is the Moment not shipping with 1.6 or even 2.0 for that matter? That really peeves me -_-.
Well will it at least be upgradeable to 1.6?
will sprint have an 3rd samsung moment like updated? better physical keyboard better touchscreen 'n whatnot? "aka 3rd adroid phone"
I'm really considering getting this phone, but I really want to know if it's ever gonna get the upgrade to Android 2.0?! I really like that free navigation app. on the Droid. . anyone know ?!
@youkids123 this phone isnt getting android 2.2 and the keys on the key board arent as great i have the intercept and i love it
Holy crap phones have totally changed in just 5 years
If the space bar has two sensors, I wonder what the chances are of key-mapping the left side to "B" and the right side and "B" to "space"?
Does the mis-placed "B" key bother anybody else, or just me?
I used to LOVE this phone!!!!!
Sense it proprietary to HTC. If you want it, you're going to have to get the Hero.
I can't believe Sprint charge me $200 for that phone back in 2009
Batista yisrael ONLY 200$?! Today's flagship phones cost nearly 1000$! This phone is important to android history.
does the phone have flash ? And Panorama camera ?
Ordered mine today! WOO HOO!
Wednesday could not come any faster! :D :D :D
at the end, whts the name of the black T-Mobile phone?
i have a pre and im just looking at alternatives. i really do like my pre, but it MURDERS your battery and the keyboard is a little small. On the upside its totally configurable and you can load homebrew apps.
So far, the Moment seems quite speedy. But since there is no real UI magic going on, that's not all that much of a shock.
get the moment but if i were you id look at the hero to. you can customize the hero like it was made for you. its awesome. but its all touch, no keyboard. the hero has 7 screens while the moment has 3. I think if you go to best buy you can get the moment and hero for 99 each (with a plan of course)
i want this phone so bad or the pre whitch one should i get?
Should I get this phone or the Motorola CLIQ
i have 3 phones on one plan can I take one off and add the moment without paying the 200$ (i have an instinct s30 and i hate it)
I got this about a year ago and in October of last year, the charging port got messed up and now it's just screwed up. That's pretty much the only problem I had with this. Otherwise, it's pretty good.

Looks very nice and I see that Hero looks a lot diff then one here in Europe (with out Jay Leno chin).
yea i had a hero got rid of that for the sexy moment.
Did you ever figure it out? Are you still using Android now or did you switch to iPhone?
does this phone come in anything other than sprint?
So is the UI differnet from the G1/MyTouchh?
how much is this phone now ?? i like it.
@kingkonggarden thanks!!! which 1 seems betta to u
hey guys im gettin a new fone in a week and i just wanted to know if i shud get this phone or the samsung insticnt s30...please help me i really need to know
the moment is good dude, 800 MHz processor, no phone on the market beats that.
AMOLED display on the moment. Best display you can get wirh 16.7 million colors.
this phone might not have the best attractive look but it the has the interiors of a Ferrari compared to other phones
My first phone.. got it in 2010... Could have spent a few bucks more and got the EVO with 720 video... Much better than the moment
I'm happy.
@kailynleto well . i had my samsung intercept since it came out . and i never had problems with it. it works well
can you make a video just about text messaging and how to add messaging to your home screen because i love to text and i dont no how to get messaging on my home screen so i can just touch the messaging shortcut and just start texting and if i dont no how to do that then i have to slide up the thing and scroll down to messaging every time i want to text and i want to be able to just click so if you can can you just make a long but short video all about text messaging and label it text messaging!!
hey i just have a question before i buy this phone... is it worth it....... does web browsing work well? thank you
Yes it was worth it.
I just got my Moment. Had it activated, worked fine..
Just changed the 2GB microSD card for a PNY 4GB
Now all it will do is show a picture of a battery filling up :(
this is the phone i am planing on getting
Very different devices. Moment is more entertaining, the Tour is more capable/efficient as a messaging device.
@youkids123 The intercept is alot slower,it isnt a smart phone either. Its a very cheap phone, its pretty much a rumor touch.
