    Who thinks Bill is the greatest defender of al time?

    • @jamagaton
      @jamagaton 10 лет назад +11

      ***** It doesn't matter what era it is. He dominated by winning Championships in his time. What if somebody says like LeBron's wouldn't even win a ring without ditching Cleveland and form a Super Team with All Stars and Superstars. Doesn't it sound bad like what people like you are saying to Mr. Russell?
      LeBron James is already a winner, we can't deny that.
      What is more undeniable is that the great Bill Russell also won 9 more times than LeBron and that is a fact.

    • @jamagaton
      @jamagaton 10 лет назад +7

      It just doesn't matter, we won't see it. We could all speculate. We just have to deal with the fact that Bill Russell is a pioneer of the game of basketball and changed how defense is played.
      Defensive players in the 80's and 90's would lack the principles of Defense if it weren't for guys like Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain.

      in high school this dude ran the 400 meters and did the high jump and long jump how many guys at his height run the 400 these days??? he was athletic he could play in any era besides in his days if they had access to the technology we have now and have the beliefs in strength and conditioning and speed work no doubt he would be great in the 90's. Besides there were on only 4 hof centers in the 90s the 70s and 80s have the best centers.

Also the greatest basketball player of all time; one of the greatest athletes ever, & the greatest winner in professional team sports easily.

      @@LebAu06 The Lakers win Game 1, and then get swept in the next 4 to lose a the 1973 Finals in 5 games. Willis Reed won the Finals MVP for the second time, earned a 2-0 playoff record against Wilt Chamberlain, all while only playing 30 minutes a game. Wilt's horrible free throw shooting resurfaces ONCE AGAIN.
      Game 2 - Wilt has 5 points 1-9 (11%) FT shooting, and the Knicks only win by 4 points. If he made just over half of his free throws the Lakers would have a great chance to win the game.
      Game 3 - Wilt has 5 points and 1-4 (25%) FT shooting. The Knicks only won by 4 points. If Mr. 7-time scoring champ and 50 ppg brought up his points when they MATTERED, this could have been another loss avoided.
      Game 4 - Wilt has only 13 points with a better 5/7 (71%) FT, and the Knicks only win by 5. For the 3rd straight game, if Wilt picked up his offensive production like he did in Game 6 of the 1970 Finals with Willis Reed injured (45 pts and 27 rebs), the Lakers would have been in great position to tie the series at 2-2, but instead Wilt blows the must-win game and the Knicks take a 3-1 lead which essentially ends the series.
      Game 5 - Wilt has a good offensive game! 23 points BUT a 5/14 (36%) FT shooting. He missed 9 free throws. Guess how many points the Knicks won by? Yup. Only 9 points. Wilt's career ends choking away an elimination game in the Finals at the FT line, like he did so many times throughout his playoff career.

      2. Knicks (not only Reed): Knicks '71 and '73 had 5 Hall of Famers in roster, including shooting forward with the highest rpg in career (Lucas) and Reed. Wilt averaged 24.6 rpg in all NBA Finals he played.

    Wilt averaged 18 PPG for his finals career (even tho he averaged atleast 20 PPG every regular season untill his last two seasons... with a 2-4 finals record two of those losses came from Knicks Willis reed outplaying wilt how can he be top 10 when he barley won 2 titles Russ lead 5 of the best defenses in nba history when Boston was last in defense before he got to Boston
    11-0 in game 7s 18 PPG and 29 REB averages in those 10 games
    Russell won 5 mvps ( 3 straight ) and Celtics missed the playoffs for a couple years straight after Russ retired despite not losing anyone other Sam Jones and he was replaced by HOF jojo white Russell played with four members of the NBA's Top 50 at 50 (Havlicek, Cousy, Sharman, and Sam Jones); Wilt played with six members (Baylor, West, Greer, Cunningham, Arizin, and Thurmond). And Russell's teammates from 1957 to 1969 were selected to twenty-six All-Star games, while Wilt's teammates from 1960 to 1973 were selected to twenty-four. Let's never mention the supporting-cast card again with Russell and Chamberlain. Thank you.
    Wilt never was the leading scorer in the finals when he won In fact he was the 5th leading scorer in the 1967 finals 5th LEADING SCORER ON HIS OWN TEAM ALONE, wilts game was never that of a winner bill was the more clutch cerebral player 3 times in the finals he averaged 20+ PPG and another finals series he had 70%FG on near 20 PPG,

    Bill Russel overrated, he wasn't even the 2nd best in his own time, he was always behind Wilt and West, sometimes he was behind Mikan(very very little) and Elgin Baylor also
