Thank you Kaveman. I have learned so much from your channel. I put your channel on due to a boring day and have watched every one. I now have three 75 gallon Malawi tanks. You are the cichlid whisperer. Lol. God bless, peace
Great video! I have some moving dollies that hold 20 long tanks. I use those to hold QT tanks so I can wheel them around where I need in the fishroom. 😁
Great channel mate, love seeing anyone elses african cichlids. I have a 100 gallon malawi tank, a 100 gallon american cichlid tank, and my new(ish) addition is my 100 gallon Lake Victoria tank. Hard to find many species for it here in the UK, but i am building the community slowly. Love your work dude, keep it up and i will keep watching 😊
Your fish room is just amazing. I have 6 tanks but I am only using 2 currently. Every time I feel lazy and don’t want to clean I watch one of your videos and I am ready to go. One of these days you should make a video just showing off the room. Just cinematic, I would have the link memorized lol
Enjoyed watching this Kev! Nice fish! The big guy definitely was doing some bullying. I can't believe you lifted that tank by yourself! 🦶 Ouch! Enjoyed watching! Love their colors! ❤❤❤😊
Kev, Congratulations on the new beautiful AF cichlids. They are so pretty. I like this explanation that you did on the 20 long QT. I also have a 20 gal QT where I stick any new fish I get in there and monitor for a few weeks. I also can see if they are eating well etc. I am going to look into that duo I didn’t know seachem made some medicine like that. I use the API Melafix and primafix. I think it’s called. Appreciate the content buddy.
Just me but I would have chucked that sponge for the sponge filter in the big tank for a few days just to build up a bit of bacteria just me I believe you're doing a brilliant job 👍😎
While you can absolutely do it that way, there’s no need to build any bacteria for a temporary quarantine tank. Seachem Prime will take care of all ammonia production.
@@KaveManAquatics absolutely just a suggestion for if someone is using the same thing but doesn't have prime/stability or even setting up a tank for kids to have go. loving the new fishies buddy can't wait to see the growing big and making it to the big tank 👍😎
Kev & my fellow friends, how are you? I'm gonna ask you is out of subject for this video. I have a 120 g malawi tank, 20 adult fishes in it and I have 2 sun sun 304bs running with one system having mechanical filtration 80 % & 20% with bio and purigen. The other one running with 50% mechanical and 50% bio media. One of my friend suggests to make both the sunsuns as mechanical filters and add a eheim 2217 fully loaded with bio media. This he suggests in a way to have the parallel run after eheim is installed and established and later to convert the sunsun( currently 50 mechanical & 50 bio) to 100 % mechanical filtration. Is this a wise plan? Or 3 filters will be too much for a 120 or what will be the right way ahead? Thanks for your valuable suggestions. Love from India❤.
What do you do while quarantine with nitrites, ammonia? I guess if you test water do water change? How much ? So, also if a angelfish fish has significant frayed fins should I treat with either of these meds or something else ? I love this video and I realized that I've made mistakes with my quarantine tank. Great video ❤
Dosing Seachem prime daily will detoxify any and all ammonia, nitrite, and any possible nitrate. If your fish has frayed fins or any other physical damage I would also dose Seachem StressGuard in addition to the others. StressGuard is great for healing and slime coat production. I water change my Quarantine tank every 2-3 days since it isnt cycled. if it was cycled i would water change it weekly. Hope that helps 😊
Great Videos. Just to let you know, I have had a fish tank about 2 years... Redcap Orandas. I want to get into Lake Malawi African Cichlids. Preferably Peacocks. However, I really do not know which ones to get. I feel I should pick ones 6" and under. My only problem is that I only have room for a 75 gal tank. I am not sure which ones to get and how many. Can you suggest which Peacock Cichlids I should get and how many so I can have a colorful tank. Thanks bro!
A 75 is a great tank size to start with for peacocks. Even though most of them will grow to 6" plus, they do well in a 75 gallon. I had about 30 in my 75 at one time, overstocked yes but with over filtration and frequent maintenance it can be done successfully. Here's a video I did a wild back on some of the species I have, it may be helpful to you - ruclips.net/video/OqZ56JuQuEU/видео.html
How are you just wanted to ask what I should do with my male red shoulder peacock fry. Should I put them in a tank alone only have like 4 or 5 males. But they already chasing females and fighting. Thanks.
Hey kev , are you planning to set up a more permanent Q/T area ? I've watched you wrestle q/t tanks on the floor time and time again. I have a setup for q/t ready all the time, none of that struggling.
Metroplex dissipates on its own after about 8 hours. But regardless, you should be changing your water every 2-3 days in an uncycled quarantine anyway.

Tough to say because theres so many factors. Did you dechlorinate the water with Prime? Was the tanks temp and PH the same as where the fish came from? many factors bro, but sorry you lost them.
yea it would be, But this an educational channel. I've always shown people that a UV on a freshwater tank is unnecessary. You'll see how crystal this tank will be without ever needing one 😊

Those are some nice fish. I wish my LFS had that kind of variety. I'd be worried one would jump out without some kind of lid covering the qt.
I almost threw my back out watching this!!!
🤣🤣 You and I both!
Setting one up this weekend Kev , thnx for the tips !
You know I got you bro! 💪
Love it . I will suggest go with Albino red empress from Snake river cichlids. Amazing colors that fish has.

At what stage of growth do you start fasting your fish? Mine are still juvenile, so I don't know if I should start fasting them yet.
Wow 🤯

Put the sponge filter on side with smaller fish
4 smaller guys need more space than the 1 bigger guy 😊
Legend!
Hi Kev - do you use a heater in your quarantine tank?
I dont only because My FishKave always stays at 78 degrees. But yes, you should have a heater in your quarantine.
Yo kev you forgot to show us the main tank (africans) lol
Next video my bro, when the new guys go in 😁
Where did you get the tub size metroplex?
Directly from the Seachem facility...I know it can be difficult to find online.
Quick question, what size are the new fish ?
Maybe 4"
💪🏽
😁💪
It’s been quite awhile why is your 450 still not crystal clear?????
Moving media around and sump modifications. The plants, sump, and a 450 gallon are all new to me....Greatness takes time 😊

You’re absolutely right! I just haven’t found, or found the time, to find a stand 🤣🤣
Is it ok to dosing these medications daily without water change? Will not be at toxic level or do harm for the fish?
