randy is such a damn legend of this sport, i literally grew up watching him and being amazed at what he accomplished at his age. one of the underrated OGs
@@reallivingtv1662 With the recency bias and ever growing fanbase it seems all time greats like Randy Couture and Dan Henderson are being forgotten about.
@Better than Netflix yeah definitely underrated. Guys like couture should be remembered by everyone imo but new fans have no idea how incredible he was. Only the OGs of the sport know who he is. At least hes a hall of famer
Only UFC I have seen live and let me tell you.....that knockdown ten sec in the place went absolutely insane. When Randy won everyone went crazy it was so awesome.
That's so awesome! What a moment to witness! I saw Dan Henderson vs Shogun Rua 1 live. That fight was insane and worth the ticket price. When Bruce annouced that Dan had won the fight you couldn't even hear yourself cheering.
randy's striking did make an impression against a heavyweight champion with a striking-base. tim did manage to resist randy's takedowns more so such as in round 4 and 5 most notably. and he didn't seem to show signs of fatigue overly before the end.
@@CJK57 Fighters back then weren't so well rounded. Most were only good at one thing. Street fighter versus wrestler, kung fu guy versus boxer, etc. The sport has really evolved in 20 years.

I have to place Severn right up there and most likely past just due to his longevity and massive record. I know the level of competition is a portion of it but overall it's hard to dismiss. He fought well into his fifties also.
Much respect to Tim in this fight. He got frustrated over and over but stayed classy even gave a little clap when the judges declared Randy the new champion.
@@KritterKreed1016 yea I've never fought someone that didn't deserve to be hit so I don't know what it's like to fight because it's your job. I don't think I could have someone swinging on me without me being in my feelings towards them...takes mental conditioning to accept it's part of the game. I don't like a lot of the people that I played against in football 20 years ago that tried to take me out. lol
I’m praying for you Judge hopefully she can see beyond this and know that all of your fans and supporters know your solid and a God fearing awesome gentlemen may God bless and keep you guys together 🙏🏼
Dont forget that Tim had been starching many big names during this time, but Randy was just that much better (great gas tank, great grappling) so he spared tall guys to get his distance down but he said he boxed and spared alot of real fast partners for timing and later said the result was that Tim's punches(though very power) seemed almost slow during this fight, real classy competitor, and very smart fighter. Loved him as champ, win or loose.
Randy would have definitely tried to clinch and smother Cro Cop against the cage but Cro Cop was very strong and was a very good defensive grappler, if Cro Cop can keep it in the middle I believe he'd knock Couture out, Cro Cop knocks out Sylvia easy too.
@@kevthegoat8774 I know Randy was like 43, but since Chuck could knock him out, I feel like Mirko could have done it as well, especially since Cro Cop was a more decorated striker, and also had really good takedown defense. Not to mention the dude was strong too for being a small heavyweight, The fact that he wasn't getting Thrown around in the clinch with a prime Bob Sapp is pretty impressive.
I remember Tim saying "ain't no old man gonna beat me!" I was so happy for Randy winning the Heavyweight Belt again! This PPV was well worth it imo. 💪🔥💯
Ah Mike Goldberg I forgot about him and his one liners like: "How about having a 280 pound man laying on you?", but nothing better than the Penn fight where he said "This is the best BJ we've ever seen!".
I scored the fight 50-45 for Randy, just as the judges did, but then I took an additional 2 points from Silvia for those painted toenails. So, 50-43 for Randy.
Tim Sylvia was the coolest goofy guy. These were the days where fighters were evolving right in front of your eyes. An arm bar back then was pretty much a wrap, and then a guy like Rich Franklin would roll out of it. In an instant they weren’t as dangerous.
6:53 Randy THE NATURAL Couture is one of the best of all time! I mean the highest echelon of the hall of fame… like in the nfl. Randy is on par with Anderson, Mighty Mouse, Jon Jones, BJ Penn, GSP, ICEMAN, etc. #Champions
I never thought Silvia was a very good fighter, he was just big, no, huge. Randy's fight plan seemed so simple, while yhe fight itself must have been exhausting. Randy was unbelievable
Remembering later that he actually took Brock Lesner down in that first round when he lost the fight as his head got clipped his temple. Couldn't believe he actually took lesner down.
24:10 "Matt Hughes is very, very concerned." That's funny considering Matt wrote in his book that he didn't like Tim, and even when Tim asked him why he didn't like him and that he just wanted to be friends, Matt still blew him off.
That distorted noise cause the crowd is too loud at the knockdown gives me goosebumps.
Yeah I was there, it was crazy
Randy was 43 years old in this fight. Its crazy how good he was. Sad to see the UFC disrespect him now just because Dana has disagreements with Randy.
Dana has an ego and as much as I love him I hate him just as much for it.

Dana needs to be humbled

Didn't he come out of retirement to fight? Randy ain't no joke.
Randy had terrible communication with the UFC at the end of his career. He wanted more money and Dana and them said fuck you

Randy learned that combo that dropped Tim from Dan, lead inside low kick followed by a big overhand right

It was such an iconic moment for me too. I remember losing my mind in the first 10 seconds of the fight when Randy landed that OHR. @@jimsheppard3166
Where I’m from we call that the okey-doke fake Low hit high
I'm pretty sure they trained at the same place at one point. They have similar styles in that regard.
I still have never heard a louder crowd than in this fight. GSP deafeating Hughes the first time might be close second. The golden days of the UFC.
You know the crowd is loud when it drowns out joes commentary, by far the loudest pop I’ve ever heard watching ufc
One of the greatest fights in the entire history of the UFC. I got goosebumps watching it again after so many years. Thanks for sharing!
Nope.
I didn’t realize how shitty of a mma fighter Tim was.
How he became the champ is beyond me.

Thanks for this great quality...was looking for awhile. Respect
I remember watching this with my Dad, such a great memory

One of my All time favorites!!! Thanks
Watched this live back in the day. It such an awesome moment to that first knock down.
“Baseball is a million times boring” Joe Rogan is hilarious 😂😂😂
One of the greatest and most underappreciated fighters of all time
Every single fighter on his record is a killer
I remember watching this fight back in the days, Randy Couture has done a demonstration of MMA.
Randy Couture, a true legend of this sport.
Good fight.Randy's head movement is underrated,he also nearly finshed prime Sylvia faster than Fedor 💀💀💀
If Randy had had ko power he would've been almost unstoppable.

I'd put Glover on the list also. Randy and Glover are the only two UFC fighters to win a championship over the age of 40.
George Foreman you said fighter not mma

Randy has the best spotsmanship of most any fighter.

This is definitely top 3 fights in the UFC. Up there with Griffon vs Bonner and GSP vs Pen.

25 minutes of domination from Captain America. Much respect to Tim Sylvia as well.
Randy has been my favorite fighter for many years. This fight proves (one of the many reasons) why.

Randy was a favorite for sure

Sylvia between rounds 3 and 4 thinking to himself, "I can't wait until Dana invents power slap."
Randy was also known for naming the “Atomic Butt Drop” as a mma move 😊
it's funny to think that today's lightweights and featherweights could easy wipe the floor with these guys

I remember this fight very well Randy Couture took the fight right to him.
Round 1 should have been scored 10 8.

I like the young Joe Rogan commentary better. “You think this is boring? Baseball is about 1,000X more boring”
"Not bad for an old man😉😏"
And people complain about present heavyweights ...
Such a shame Dana hates couture so bad that he has scrubbed him from the ufc history books. Man is a damn living legend 💯😎💯
