The older I get, the more I realize how a fast shifting transmission is really important. I was driving my VW Tiguan (crappy soccer Mom car, which I put a slightly larger turbo on), and I got into a red light race with a mustang next to me, when the light turned green I was a little bit quicker off the line, but he was reeling me in EXCEPT for when he was shifting, he was dropping back 4 feet at a time for each gear and I just kind of stayed in front. I could hear his exhaust making demon noises but those shifts really did alot, I really shouldn't have won.
I bought my wife a 2021 Tiguan AWD RLine, It isn't a crappy soccer mom car by any means. Soccer mom car yes lol but for sure not crappy. What turbo did you upgrade with, I'd love to sneak that in my wifes
Absolutely! (except were skill defeats bad trans tuning) I was driving my 100% stock 96 Ranger 2.3l stick shift and beat a 300C SRT-8 once. We were both at the front of a two-lane dedicated left turn light. I was on the outside as I was going to be making a right turn onto the highway after the left...I believe the SRT8 wanted to also get on the highway so his intention was to get by me after the turn. Light goes green, neck and neck thru the left and as we straighten out he stomps on the throttle...and spins...his trans upshifts...then bogs...then downshifts....then spins...(wash. rinse. repeat)...the whole time I am riding off into the sunset smashing gears on my Ranger, maniacally laughing in the process...We end up and a red light right before the highway. I look over at him and the dude is SEETHING, just full to the brim with rage...he is shaking his steering wheel. One of my favorite memories.
That second race was something straight out of a movie the trans am shifts and pulls ahead then the e36 shift and pulls in front for a second. That has to be one of the best races ive witnessed.
Next time I have to sandbag to get a race, I'm totally using "I had to borrow this fire suit to be here." That's exactly what the Trans Am tells me; hidden hot shoe behind a monster build that's not just a pretty face.

Ever since I saw Riley's Trans AM here on hoonigan like more than 2 years ago I've been in love with it. Such a work of art that car, they are already sexy cars but the work's he's done is phenomenal
I love this series so much. I live locally to where they film this and hope one day they see me cruising around in my 1000hp hellcat and flag me down to come race haha. A man can dream!

That shifting by the Trans-Am was painful. Awesome race. But the shifting.... Amazing car, he made that Trans-Am absolutely beautiful. But I got up and took a shit between those shifts.
Was pulling for the old bird simply because Motor Machine did the engine! Was really cool to watch these guys have a blast rowing some gears! The fact that all the shiny parts stayed on the inside after the missed shift says a lot!
For those who dont know the 1970 pontiac trans am is the winner of Hotwheels Legends 2020 last year and the Hotwheels already made a 1/64 size version so everyone can buy it
Love the series, but one thing I _wish_ you guys would start doing is getting wheel torque figures and listing them in the comparison. It's arguably more important than HP in making determinations for these types of races, and for how in depth you guys go in discussing the cars, it's a pretty large omission.
Given that HP=(RPM x torque)/5252 , one can see that torque figures alone are no more informative than RPM figures. For example, a sport bike motor makes HP through high RPM, though they typically make low torque, and a commercial diesel engine makes HP through large torque values and low RPM.
Just gonna ignore that the “this” car became “that” car at the end lol
