I find it weird how people obsess over resolution numbers when the upscaling solution provides a nice image. Would you rather have 2160p with a vastly worse looking game or would you rather have a nice looking game that comes close to replicating 4K through upscaling methods that have gotten very good in recent years? You can't have both with a $500 console when you're talking about state of the art games like this.

I'm sorry what? What people hate is aliasing, which is the cause of low resolutions on higher resolutions. Upscaling is good... when the native output res is at minimum 1080p, not less otherwise you get massive aliasing and shimmering, blurry ghosting reflections, just like this game and many others.
This game has caused all the trolls to come out. My God if you just look at this video PC version has better reflections and that is about it from this video
I play this on my 4090, and the graphics are unreal, it's the first game that truly is net gen, the shadows and reflections with path-tracing are almost like in real life.
I was originally worried because Control at 30fps on Series X was super blurry and disorienting. But the quality mode here is perfect because the movement isn’t as fast-paced and open as their previous title.
7:15 The real winner is Xbox series S for me here as a PC gamer, the fact $250 console can generate an image even with 792p almost similar to the $3k PC is outstanding.
Not the same at all. It is very difficult to tell the difference between 4k and 2k with mobile screen. If you are playing in a 55 inches+ tvs you can tell the huge difference
La diferencia es impresionante, lo primero la consola no vale 250€ vale 330€, segundo la diferencia es impresionante, el pc está en 2160p, la series s en 720p, ese 720p funciona a 30fps, la pc a 60fps, y con gráficos al máximo, no dlss, nativo, así que básicamente estamos hablando de que corre 4 veces el juego como la series s, y encima a 60fps, una diferente ABISMAL y es normal no por nada cuesta 3000$
I personally think that Series X & PS5 user should play in quality mode. The performance mode does give 60fps, but everything else is equivalent to the Series S or even slightly inferior maybe. This is a Narrative-driven game, 30fps should be fine. The extra visual details and fidelity would improve my experience. That is just my opinion though. I have a Series S and will enjoy the game on it whenever I buy it!
@@purringbluzzmuffin8030 I personally don't think so. For years we have played games at 30fps and never seemed to have a problem. I still sometimes play my PS2 games at 30fps. And we don't just get a resolution bump, but also bet textures, vegetation, etc. I agree that 60fps is nice and smooth, but 30fps is not unplayable for me. I played Hellblade on my Series S with the enriched visuals mode, which was at 30fps but gave me ray-tracing and some other visual improvements. Since, that was a slow-paced narrative-driven game I think I made the best choice. In a racing game or something like that, I would prefer 60fps I think, but I have no problem with 30fps as long as it is stable. I mean, we also watch most movies at like 24 or 30 frames per second. So, I think 30fps is here to stay, because they are always going to be able to give better visuals by limiting the frame rate to 30.
@@wizzenberry Spider-Man 2 outside character models and RT reflection is nothing g groundbreaking. This games has full path tracing and in terms of modern technology used destroys SM2...plus in my opinion it looks much better.
I dont see nothing impressive, especially for how demanding it is, it just looks ok. The Last of US 2 on PS4 looks at least as impressive or even more.

I’m surprised pc doesn’t pull further ahead like with cyberpunk overdrive. Besides the obvious gains in reflections, shadows and image quality it’s not as large a gap as I expected. Amazing job
@@neilranson4185The game has some software ray tracing for Global Illumination and reflections unlike Cyberpunk which falls back to either pre baked solutions or cube maps. Just a difference in technology
I just finished it exactly with a 4080, game looks pretty good… although I did had ghosting, lighting glitches and decided to turn HDR off because the glare of the flashlight was unbearable, almost as if I had a fog “shield” obstructing the view. I had some other glitches, but they’re irrelevant to this graphic comparison
The table on PS5 is differently lit because he is a bit further into the story. The investigations options open up and you can use this desk for profiling etc

There are many good graphics engines, e.g. Capcom Re-Engine has great technological capabilities, the engine is very well optimized, the productions run very well, high native resolution, ray tracing is weak, but you can always learn or hire talented programmers when it comes to reflections shadows, lighting, etc. another example is Sony's Guerrilla Games studio, many of you have played their production Death Stranding, Horizon Forbidden West, for many the latter looks phenomenal resolution, special effects, water physics, lighting, shadows, range drawing, detail, cutscenes, optimization that deserves praise because it shows that with talent and great skills you can do something very sophisticated, even though the PS5 is not a powerful computer, but a device for a maximum of PLN 3,000, there are many other graphics engines, e.g.: Metro Exodus ( engine 4A) can work wonders, etc. 😉
This is a real next gen game, now I realize why they asked those specs for Pc, there's a whole difference between the Pc and consoles Quality graphics, the consoles are doing good, but seeing how this game looks like in Pc, speachless. I know the master race makes a whole difference always, but never saw a dramatic difference like this in this gen, before. Cheers Remedy!
Esto de las reconstrucciones es algo confuso, que se ve mejor un 1080p nativo en PC con ajustes similares a los de consola, o un 847p reconstruido a 1440p del ps5/series x?
Dlss use AI to upscale so it's better, but particular hardware Is needed and only Nvidia cards has It. Fsr Is more open source but It looks much worse, especially at low resolutions (consoles use this). 1440p reconstructed from 840p with fsr would probably look worse than a 1080p reconstructed from 720p with dlss, because DLSS does a much better job at low resolutions.
mira soy programador y te recomiendo usar dlss o en su caso fsr 3, los 2 tienen un tope, cuando pasas de más del 50% ya no se nota que mantengan calidad, es más las pierden y agregan artefactos, digamos un ejemplo de 720p a 1080 no es víable en mi opinion, de 900p a 1080p sí se vé mucho mejor que dejando a 900p nativos, saludos...
Obviamente lo nativo siempre sera superior, pero ya se esta alcanzando el maximo en referente a poder bruto y de ahi a optar por diferentes tecnologías (IA/hardware especializado/algoritmos) y por lo que veo, el resultado es muuuy prometedor, pero por lo pronto Nvidia esta un peldaño sobre el resto.
1440p reconstruido se ve un poco mejor que 1080p pero peor que un 1440p Nativo, recuerda que se esta recostruyendo la imagen no reescalandola, aqui se esta usando un reconstructor bastante bueno el FSR 2.0 en modo Balanciado en una pantalla 2K se vera bastante bien

Same performance with 1-2 frames difference in few areas... In the second scene actually the PS5 is locked 60fos and XSX has some drops. But both, judging from the video, generally are 98% at 60fps, which is great
@@kostasbousbouras2654Performance isn't the same dude, it drops to the mid 50s on the PS5 on the more dense areas, I agree that it's not a big deal but saying it's the same is lying.
It hurts because the dualsense features for PS5 are king and make any game more immersive. It also has a unique feature of vibrating the controller when certain characters speak-giving a feeling of bass to the controller. But I admit hearing it runs more consistently across the board on Series X makes it tricky which system to buy it for. Apparently even graphics mode has some frame rate drops on PS5-I don’t know if they can patch it to fix it as PS5 has similar specs to the Series X so I don’t get why it doesn’t run as consistently. Yeah it’s not a huge issue but the frame rate drops are big enough it takes me out of it-even for a moment.
Seeing those SSR reflections from newer Titles Specifically from this title gives me Feeling like Developers got lazy With Ray Tracing Technology, Even Tech from 2010 Alan wake Had Far more impressive SSR for its time then Products from "Next Generation"

Every single Remedy game since Quantum Break has always been terribly optimized and started the trend of Devs not optimizating games, Quantum break started the upscaling trend, control was only decent on next gen consoles and was what really kickstarted upscaling replacing normal res on PC, and now Alan Wake 2 with digital only.

Muito difícil melhorar nos consoles, no pc está assim por causa do path tracing (tecnologia nova, ainda experimental) e as placas amd não dão conta ainda. Ambos consoles são de placas amd.
Não é que capricharam mais, é que os consoles não tem poder de fogo para rodar o game no máximo. O jogo é o mesmo, o que falta para o console é desempenho, então tiveram que diminuir as coisas. Console parece que tá rodando o game no médio e algumas coisas no low quando põe em performance

@@krspy1337Control Ultimate edition (same engine, same developer) actually was better on ps5 at launch and then series x with updates ended up with better performance. I think Alan Wake 2 is pretty much a more mature work based on learnings from Control.
even though this game is undoubtedly beautiful, I still didn't feel the graphics of this generation had changed too much from the 8th gen, I think we're getting at the point where the graphics in games will not improved so much because they are already too realistic

@@4ikibrikivdamk3 Agreed fully. The sad truth is that alot of people do not have an eye for detail. While diminishing returns is a thing and graphics improvement has slowed down generation after generation, other areas have greatly improved. Texture Quality and Texture resolution can always be turned up but is something devs cut back on such as in CP77 and I wish they would just release higher res texture packs for the people that have the VRAM to use them. Then there's a huge difference with improved lighting and shadows/AO as well as reflections due to quality RT and Path Tracing. Once I started playing CP77 back during update 1.4 on my 3080 TI at RT Ultra, it literally opened my eyes and made me notice all the flaws with baked GI and cube map reflections. And the real sad thing is that now a days when people see a developer actually pushing technical boundaries, they kick and scream "unoptimized" without knowing a damn thing just because their setup wont allow them to get 1080 native/60fps.
Much of the improvements are quite small which people just aren't looking at. It's exactly how I expected it to be with many things being little improvements to things like foliage, lighting and models. There are some large improvements but it's the small details being made much better

Nice job on consoles. Ps5 amd XSX seem identical in graphics and performance, XSS seems to have the graphics settings of the performance mode of the other two. Also I would like a comparison with a PC that most people play and not the 1% with these high end rigs...

Not exactly. People misunderstand what is meant when they say the Series S is holding back the PS5 and Series X. No one said the Series S wouldn't improve over the previous generation. It's just an unfortunate anchor point when the PS5 and Series X are far more capable. Even these developers have said that the Series S is problematic, but only in relation to current more powerful hardware. The Series S can still deliver a large leap in quality over a PS4 and X One.

Reflections with rtx, as in other games, seem to look more beautiful, but less realistic than without rtx, which is funny. There are no such puddles with ideally pure water that would reflect everything as the purest grain
When water is quiet its very reflective, path tracing reflections are quite realistic, however, in some games as the witcher 3 for example its a bit unrealistic.
So true I like the PS5/Xbox water reflections more because mostly the water isn't crystal clear like a mirror but full of debris near dock. Where PC version/RT shines though is with Shadows (there is distance focused shadows in PC) and some other reflections
@@W-meme Yeah, but you can dial back RT reflections to exactly match console reflections. Also, I have the PC version, and with RUclips compression, you don't see what it really looks like. It's utterly insane.

Consoles don't fare too bad,imo. At least in the Quality Mode. My only complaint is the occasional shimmering on fine objects/structures caused by FSR.

En PC es realmente el juego más impresionante del año y hay una diferencia abismal con las consolas. Entre consolas es parejo con un poco de mejor performance y algunas muy sutiles mejores texturas en XBSX, pero lo de pc me dejó impresionado, DLSS 3.5 es realmente excelente en este juego.

I just finished it exactly with a 4080, game looks pretty good… although I did had ghosting, lighting glitches and decided to turn HDR off because the glare of the flashlight was unbearable, almost as if I had a fog “shield” obstructing the view. I had some other glitches, but they’re irrelevant to this graphic comparison

There are many good graphics engines, e.g. Capcom Re-Engine has great technological capabilities, the engine is very well optimized, the productions run very well, high native resolution, ray tracing is weak, but you can always learn or hire talented programmers when it comes to reflections shadows, lighting, etc. another example is Sony's Guerrilla Games studio, many of you have played their production Death Stranding, Horizon Forbidden West, for many the latter looks phenomenal resolution, special effects, water physics, lighting, shadows, range drawing, detail, cutscenes, optimization that deserves praise because it shows that with talent and great skills you can do something very sophisticated, even though the PS5 is not a powerful computer, but a device for a maximum of PLN 3,000, there are many other graphics engines, e.g.: Metro Exodus ( engine 4A) can work wonders, etc. 😉

Esto de las reconstrucciones es algo confuso, que se ve mejor un 1080p nativo en PC con ajustes similares a los de consola, o un 847p reconstruido a 1440p del ps5/series x?
DLSS vs FSR
Dlss use AI to upscale so it's better, but particular hardware Is needed and only Nvidia cards has It.
Fsr Is more open source but It looks much worse, especially at low resolutions (consoles use this).
1440p reconstructed from 840p with fsr would probably look worse than a 1080p reconstructed from 720p with dlss, because DLSS does a much better job at low resolutions.
mira soy programador y te recomiendo usar dlss o en su caso fsr 3, los 2 tienen un tope, cuando pasas de más del 50% ya no se nota que mantengan calidad, es más las pierden y agregan artefactos, digamos un ejemplo de 720p a 1080 no es víable en mi opinion, de 900p a 1080p sí se vé mucho mejor que dejando a 900p nativos, saludos...
Obviamente lo nativo siempre sera superior, pero ya se esta alcanzando el maximo en referente a poder bruto y de ahi a optar por diferentes tecnologías (IA/hardware especializado/algoritmos) y por lo que veo, el resultado es muuuy prometedor, pero por lo pronto Nvidia esta un peldaño sobre el resto.
1440p reconstruido se ve un poco mejor que 1080p pero peor que un 1440p Nativo, recuerda que se esta recostruyendo la imagen no reescalandola, aqui se esta usando un reconstructor bastante bueno el FSR 2.0 en modo Balanciado en una pantalla 2K se vera bastante bien

It's due to the lower setting for reflections they use. PC shows the same artifacts at lower settings for reflections

In the second scene actually the PS5 is locked 60fos and XSX has some drops.
But both, judging from the video, generally are 98% at 60fps, which is great
@@kostasbousbouras2654Performance isn't the same dude, it drops to the mid 50s on the PS5 on the more dense areas, I agree that it's not a big deal but saying it's the same is lying.
It hurts because the dualsense features for PS5 are king and make any game more immersive. It also has a unique feature of vibrating the controller when certain characters speak-giving a feeling of bass to the controller. But I admit hearing it runs more consistently across the board on Series X makes it tricky which system to buy it for.
Apparently even graphics mode has some frame rate drops on PS5-I don’t know if they can patch it to fix it as PS5 has similar specs to the Series X so I don’t get why it doesn’t run as consistently.
Yeah it’s not a huge issue but the frame rate drops are big enough it takes me out of it-even for a moment.

Every single Remedy game since Quantum Break has always been terribly optimized and started the trend of Devs not optimizating games, Quantum break started the upscaling trend, control was only decent on next gen consoles and was what really kickstarted upscaling replacing normal res on PC, and now Alan Wake 2 with digital only.

Muito difícil melhorar nos consoles, no pc está assim por causa do path tracing (tecnologia nova, ainda experimental) e as placas amd não dão conta ainda. Ambos consoles são de placas amd.
Não é que capricharam mais, é que os consoles não tem poder de fogo para rodar o game no máximo.
O jogo é o mesmo, o que falta para o console é desempenho, então tiveram que diminuir as coisas.
Console parece que tá rodando o game no médio e algumas coisas no low quando põe em performance

@@krspy1337Control Ultimate edition (same engine, same developer) actually was better on ps5 at launch and then series x with updates ended up with better performance. I think Alan Wake 2 is pretty much a more mature work based on learnings from Control.

@@4ikibrikivdamk3 Agreed fully. The sad truth is that alot of people do not have an eye for detail. While diminishing returns is a thing and graphics improvement has slowed down generation after generation, other areas have greatly improved. Texture Quality and Texture resolution can always be turned up but is something devs cut back on such as in CP77 and I wish they would just release higher res texture packs for the people that have the VRAM to use them.
Then there's a huge difference with improved lighting and shadows/AO as well as reflections due to quality RT and Path Tracing. Once I started playing CP77 back during update 1.4 on my 3080 TI at RT Ultra, it literally opened my eyes and made me notice all the flaws with baked GI and cube map reflections. And the real sad thing is that now a days when people see a developer actually pushing technical boundaries, they kick and scream "unoptimized" without knowing a damn thing just because their setup wont allow them to get 1080 native/60fps.
Much of the improvements are quite small which people just aren't looking at. It's exactly how I expected it to be with many things being little improvements to things like foliage, lighting and models. There are some large improvements but it's the small details being made much better

Not exactly. People misunderstand what is meant when they say the Series S is holding back the PS5 and Series X. No one said the Series S wouldn't improve over the previous generation. It's just an unfortunate anchor point when the PS5 and Series X are far more capable. Even these developers have said that the Series S is problematic, but only in relation to current more powerful hardware. The Series S can still deliver a large leap in quality over a PS4 and X One.

Reflections with rtx, as in other games, seem to look more beautiful, but less realistic than without rtx, which is funny. There are no such puddles with ideally pure water that would reflect everything as the purest grain
When water is quiet its very reflective, path tracing reflections are quite realistic, however, in some games as the witcher 3 for example its a bit unrealistic.

So true I like the PS5/Xbox water reflections more because mostly the water isn't crystal clear like a mirror but full of debris near dock. Where PC version/RT shines though is with Shadows (there is distance focused shadows in PC) and some other reflections

Se extrañan los comentarios, quizás ponerlos dentro del video como lo haces cuando comparas el tráiler con la versión de lanzamiento te daría más visitas, la verdad esos eran los únicos videos que veía completos, el el resto leía tus comentarios y veía la mitad del video.
Consoles don't fare too bad,imo. At least in the Quality Mode. My only complaint is the occasional shimmering on fine objects/structures caused by FSR.

Its a $3000 Pc compared to $500 console .
Sure it looks better but not $2500 better.

I,m sure console would be $300 not $500 if they just shipped us the parts to put together ourselves .

First time seeing the difference between quality mode and performance mode
En PC es realmente el juego más impresionante del año y hay una diferencia abismal con las consolas. Entre consolas es parejo con un poco de mejor performance y algunas muy sutiles mejores texturas en XBSX, pero lo de pc me dejó impresionado, DLSS 3.5 es realmente excelente en este juego.
Creo que las texturas de la Xbox Serie X son igualitas a las de PS5, no me jodas con la vista. 🙄
El modo de rendimiento del PS5 es inestable sólo en el bosque.
