    Awesome series that is very helpful. My one weakness is spraying the paint too heavy and it's something that I've been working on. So, thank you for emphasizing that point.

      I am the same Im good with the first Mist coat but I cant resist smoothing things out on second and third. it's hard to resist getting it perfect from the get-go.
      I must tell you that sanding to knock down orange peal between each coat makes a tremendous difference. If don't do it try it each coat after is smoother. I used to think I could "level off" the eggshell but you cant

    What is this 2K clear? I’ve been seeing, is it a single spray? or does it have to be mixed (clear with hardener)?

    Very useful tutorial and thank you.
    I noticed that when you painted the hood you held it with a tongue depressor and partially painted the underneath portion of the hood. What did you wind up eventually doing with the underside of the hood?

    • @NYSMODELING
      @NYSMODELING  5 месяцев назад +2

      This one is a curbside so the bottom of the hood didn't matter but usually most hoods come with a hood latch that's where I would normally clamp it too

    Do you leave the paint in the cup while you wait the 10 mins or do you pour it out and start over

    • @NYSMODELING
      @NYSMODELING  25 дней назад

      Yes keep the paint inside the cup so it doesn't dry out and I always top it off as well before I walk away

    When you wait between coats, do you just leave the paint in the airbrush?

    • @NYSMODELING
      @NYSMODELING  2 месяца назад

      Yes. And make sure you top off the airbrush. Otherwise, the paint will dry inside the cup

  • @shawnstrachan6449

    Hey Dylan, do you ever have a problem with paint drying in the nozzle during the wait time between coats?

    • @NYSMODELING
      @NYSMODELING  6 месяцев назад +1

      I don't really have any issue with paint drawing on the needle tip. But if you have that problem just keep a cotton swab nearby with some lack of thinner and just wipe off the paint from the needle for you spray

    Do you sand before clear coat?

    • @NYSMODELING
      @NYSMODELING  Месяц назад

      It depends if a color has a dimple in it then I will just send that out but otherwise no

    I am not clear when the decals would be applied and can you use a different clearcoat product before the 2k clear application?

    • @nicos3508
      @nicos3508 7 месяцев назад

      as a base for the decal.

    • @NYSMODELING
      @NYSMODELING  7 месяцев назад

      You can check out this video it explains more about clear coating details. Putting the details on before the clear coat, it seals them in, and it keeps them from peeling in the future or discoloring

      @@NYSMODELING Thank you Dylan! Your videos are very informative. My question was not stated clearly and it is rarely addressed by bloggers. I will try again. After you lay down your basecoat paint and it is time for decals, what should you do next when the final product will have 2k clear? 1. Just lay down the water slide decal on the basecoat? Or 2. Brush a little quick shine gloss or Micro Sol as a base for the decals before the 2k clear? Or 3. Shoot some 2k clear as a base for the decals before the final coats of 2k clear? Thanks again!

    What do you use for a reducer when spraying your clear coat

    • @NYSMODELING
      @NYSMODELING  7 месяцев назад

      You can just get some generic off brand you can get at Lowe's or Home Depot, or you can use the actual company clear you use

      @@NYSMODELINGdo you have a specific ratio on the clear coat and reducer? I would love to know what your recipe is for the 2k clear coat and activator and reducer combined. Would you mind explaining that?
