Singapore Airlines ... why cant you grow your destinations like Qatar Airways, Emirates and Turkish Airlines? They bring people to transit in their countries and fly people to many destinations after that ...
Because SQ needs to make money without oil money or state funding.
SQ needs a large fleet of aircraft which they do not have enough to compare to Qatar Airways, Emirates or even Turkish Airlines. SQ only has less than 200 aircraft, Emirates has about many times more aircraft compared to SQ.
Singapore Airlines in my opinion maybe unable to have giant fleet like +200 planes because Singapore is a small country

why do SIA fly to Moscow??
That's because Singapore Airlines make their money a direct flight from Singapore to Moscow since Aeroflot won't fly to Singapore.
One thing that I can sure is if Moscow-Singapore route is very high demand due to more load seat factor, of course Aeroflot will fly to Singapore one day in the future. Furthermore, Aeroflot want to make share joint profits beyond Singapore to make Moscow-Singapore route will become even strengthing.
