Thank you very much for this. It's been a favorite for many years. Great times for music in 1898. Viva Faure! Got to appreciate Ozawa's wonderful direction and overall great career as well.
Rest in Peace, dear Maestro Ozawa. This recording was the only consolation I had in my life for many years. ご冥福をお祈りします/I pray for your happiness in the next world. ❤🙏🏼🙏🏼
Medtanaculus, thanks for posting this Suite to RUclips, the performance is as flawless as it is expressive and moving ! Thanks for the information as well ! In a way we are lucky that Fauré, unable to meet the deadline of the London production of Maeterlinck's play in 1898, eventually decided to orchestrate the piece and thus create this blissful Suite which you kindly shared with us.
@@HIJK_LMNOP you've described exactly how I feel!!! anyway, good luck. and enjoy the music! plus, stay safe! I hope we'll all be able to return to normal life soon.
Well, I know that I had been looking for this song since I was very small; a T.V broadcasting channel for children would play it sometimes with pretty moving images on the screen, and was never able to locate the source! It’s a miracle that I did
Boring. Harmonically dull and unadventurous for French music. No real passion or expression. Debussy's is of course better on another level. The Sicilienne really is overrated.
@@ethanbrowncomposer ^ Obviously I’ve listened to his music if I have this opinion. To each their own. Sorry, but compared to Debussy or even Bizet, he’s just not as good. Yes, he uses harmonies found in French music of the time of course, but doesn’t pull at the emotional heartstrings nearly as much as the others.
@@rominn2184 You are entitled to your opinion of course but the statements you make about his music sound like you are unfamiliar. I don't think a comparison to Debussy is quite accurate, considering Debussy is much more of a crucial figure in French impressionism and has around 20 years on Faure. Also, much more forward-thinking. I think Faure's close contemporary Saint-Saens is a better comparison. Saint-Saens was arguably more of a traditional romantic and contrapuntist. Still, Faure is a master of harmony and voice leading. That cannot be overlooked. If you don't connect with him, that's fine. But he is still a genius.

Pelléas et Mélisande, Op. 80: III. Sicilienne it's one of my favorite songs, this is so beautiful
Haunting and beautiful.
Just gorgeous, and thank you for providing the score with which to follow along!
made me weepy :( as all transcendently beautiful things tend to do.

Une émotion mélée de grâce exquise...
Bien résumé . Il y a de l'élégance chez cet élève de Saint Saens.🏙
Certainement la plus belle suite sur ce thème', l'utilisation des flutes lui donne toute sa couleur un peu féérique...
Today I learned they played this at Faure's funeral.
Love this❤

Faure is far from dull. Have you even listened to his pieces?
