this movie is a nuanced adaptation of william shakespeare The Taming of the Shrew, which is why the high school is a castle and there’s so much poetic dialog as well as the shakespeare references. this was a good one

Man Heath was just a treasure to watch and so amazingly talented. I love this movie. I always come back to this and watch it every now and then as a comfort movie.

Fun fact when heath ledger sung “I love you baby” when she whacks peoples ass and runs down stairs….it was him just being him playing his character. I saw it in a documentary they didn’t know he just went along with it. He always in most of his films got into character. His lover in brokeback mountain is the godfather to his child because they became really close mates. He was so talented.

This is a classic rom-com, not just pure romance. Love watching this movie. If I remember correct she was really crying when reading that poem, and they kept that take.
Taming of the Shrew was my introduction to Shakespeare. Its also the only play by him that I really enjoyed. I remember watching the play in English class and laughing at the dirty jokes. No one else got it and I got teased for being the nerd who laughed at Shakespeare.
The whole story of him getting paid to go out with her and then falling for her then her forgiving him and them ending up together just reminds me of she’s all that and he’s all that also the bit where she is drunk and goes to kiss him and he moves away just made me think of that song “real sweet but I wish u were sober”
We didn’t have to dissect frogs in high school science but we did have to dissect livers and stuff and it wasn’t that gross but the smell , the smell was unforgettable and it made the building smell for a week at a time of just rotting organs
