States and local permitting counties have no authority over HUD manufactured homes. Setbacks, septics, exterior water systems, yes - the home itself, no. Uncle Sam trumps. If he approves a home, it is done.

If you were on the list at least 3 years ago. You would have been sent a letter and purchase form. Base model is 50k. Unfortunately the department of defense has made many purchases first. So you would know the price.
I love how no one likes to talk about pricing. The fact that these started off at around 40k and then went up to 50k and now they're up to 60K a box. and they haven't even hit the streets yet. They're Still in the production phase. The two-story model looks like three boxes stacked on top of each other so I would imagine that would be 180K. Not to mention that you still have to buy/rent the land that can cost you another 50K. That's great if you live in a very expensive place like California. But here in Chicago, that's the price you would expect to pay for this size home. The benefit will be the fact that it's brand new and you don't have to do any remodeling. And I'm talking about an average cheap house. Not some big beautiful Victorian in a gated community 🤨 But now you got to tack on the price of the land, And more $ if you want to add a garage. So this is still not quite an affordable home if you look at the big picture. I'm having container home vibes. And every year from this day forward the prices are just going to go up as wages stay stagnant. In 2024 they will be 70k a box 🤦🏾♂️. 2025 up to 80k, in 2026 pushing 90k. And the more people that want them, the higher the prices will be. This seems more like a add on to your existing house.
He hinted that the cost of the alternative boxes would be less since they have less features inside than the Casita. Inflating costs have hit every industry. They did not anticipate having significantly higher input costs like we have had the past few years. Extrapolating a $10k per year price increase is a big assumption and unlikely, considering they are focused on decreasing their input costs right now. It seems to me that they intend to bring price points downward or stay flat. I also think that the future 20x40 and 20x60 dimensions will have a significantly lower cost per foot than the 20x20's stuck together. Regardless, if they can stay cost competitive compared to stubbornly rising traditional housing prices, that's still a win. The more substitutes that create downward price pressure on stick built houses, the better.
In Colorado the least expensive cost for land is $150k. And housing here is ridiculous so it would be good for here also but your right it’s not cheap.
It is possible, but if they increase much more it will be hard for them to sell. I fell they will be more expensive then mobile homes, but cheaper then homes being a nice middle ground. Only time will tell, but I hope they do well because having more competition to help home prices drop is just a good thing.
So I was at IBS and got to walk the Boxabl product, some things really impressed me: the setup, the integration, the portability, the new design with the deck is pretty awesome. I also love the scale they are doing this at, complete game changer if they can pull it off! What was less impressive, was the finish quality while I was in there (Im a builder so maybe most people won't care?). Things generally hung out of square, and marks of hasty finishing everywhere, "RV on blocks" was a very unflattering comparison we heard while there. Mind you this is a house set up in a few days at a trade show so they deserve some grace, but it speaks to what will be the critical challenge with the product - it is not a magic bullet to construction, it's not going to solve your foundation, site and finish issues. I hope they are going to set up some serious education for their installer network to ensure quality. It sounds like the ultimate goal is to sell boxes to us builders and help speed the adoption of the technology, it would be a shame if that legacy is marked by poor workmanship. The specter of Katerra still hangs in the air, the caution is necessary! Hope they can figure it out!
This unit was a prototype and while it was built offsite, it had to be assembled quickly on site for the show. That may be why it wasn’t as refined as expected. They’re going to have a “Boxabl University” akin to McDs “Hamburger university” to train in transport, installation, and finish aspects of the units.
That's what it looked like at the show, a mobile home but as lego. Also it's as expensive as building a regular house in my country, even more, and it would be a better quality. They might not succeed eventually, but I think it's a good think for the industry on the whole, big prefabs for some parts and preplanning.
@@arcbrush They’re working on Casita 2.0 which will be much improved in terms of design, quality and ability to be produced quickly. It should be introduced 4Q this year. They bought $15mil of equipment to automate its production. The outside can be clad in all kinds of different siding and roofs as well. Regarding an RV, an RV is notoriously weak in terms of structure. Things are always falling apart. The Casita has 6 inch solid walls clad in steel. It is inflammable and can take a sledgehammer to the walls and 1000s of pounds on the roof.
ADU's were once considered for the elderly, but almost every adult could benefit from having cheaper housing options. Boxable is rocking it. Housing has not evolved for the masses and needs to catch up to what most can afford AND is energy efficient.
Forget energy-efficient that's just a ploy or like a water-efficient toilets that don't work energy-efficient I mean that Steven pretty crazy you know the best thing would be to have Tesla's energy so we don't have to pay for electricity and that's the exact efficiency but otherwise whatever we have we're being charged an arm and a leg for if you look at the facts. What is it the video I saw a week or so ago about the fact that electric cars cost or like a hundred times more to create the electricity for that car then the gasoline resources gasoline is evidently the second
@@corail53 exactly not to mention septic system and a well, driveway too. These will ad 20-30k unless your trying to put it in a city with city water which still cost and city sewer. City water comes with monthly bills too plus city land is much more expensive. Also unless your home site is in Vegas or real close to where they build them shipping can range upward of 50k!! If you add all tesla solar that will probably run you 50-100k more and those batteries won't last forever and cost a ton each. They also cost a lot to make would you like to know how there made? 😂 nuclear energy is best and I believe nothing will beat it. Do your homework
One more thing they will get you on, repairs!! You won't be able to just go get some wood, sheetrock, ect ect. They will have to repair them at a higher cost as opposed to being able to fix it yourself. I'll pass and build my own
The video I watched said it was totally self-sufficient it showed the batteries how they charge how everything is self sufficient so it is using his energy and some different types of batteries that are not used for the cars I’ll see if I can find that interview. ruclips.net/video/0Cdqs2Q1Vis/видео.html
I can see this for those of us in the military that don't want to live on base in a crappy old over regulated house that we can have shipped to another base so we have the same home. I am impressed! I was a foreman for Habitat for Humanity, and I can really see this to help the homeless and lower income community.
Totally! This would solve the homeless issue by people being able to have a roof for 29K-50K, which will last until its death, so nobody would have to keep paying slavery rent prices their whole life. Not a single politician wants this because rich building owners and construction companies are giving them money. Politicians from the right and the left don't care about the people. The American Dream is dead and all the super stress we have is because we can go homeless at any moment.
Well, Eliana, I think the least the Tiramanis could do is give you a boxable to live in, I mean you have given them the best interviews and sales opportunities! Great interview.
God bless you all for using your gifts to think of others In this world where so many have become "Lovers of themselves" As a senior this is still not financially feasible for me but am thankful to see this available for young people to be able to realize a home of their own one day You can see and hear the thoughtfulness that has been put into your design You guys are awesome 👏👏👏
Thanks for making housing more affordable! Everyone deserves a decent shelter - Shouldn’t be a problem in modern days anymore with all the advancement in technology.
It's quite funny to hear about companies like this because it is already super common to build houses from elements in Finland. You basically just lift walls and roof into place and than just finish the interior and your are done.
I’m hoping to finally hear and see more about the building science (air control, water control, thermal control layers with blower door test results etc) aspect of these. I encourage you to include these things in your reporting.
The time the Boxable staff allotted for the interviews was great and showcases how engaged they are with the communities interested in their products. Hopefully they can be the gold standard they are aiming for to allow for widespread disruption and availability.
Thanks Ellie, for doing stuff on Boxabl....I invested in the co. so I love learning more on the company...Hearing about the third factory and seeing their new model is first time hearing, stuff for me...always appreciate learning new stuff on the going ons in the company.
I've been following them for years. love the progress. I'm waiting for when they get the stories rolled out. I want to either go with them or wait on a 3D printed home both appear to be amazing choices for a first home.
I'm curious if they're looking into fully modular housing with this idea. Essentially, each square = X price, and can serve Y purpose, but you can attach them at will to each other as long as you have the "right" piece. For example, I can totally see the living area in this 2 story model hooking onto another unit that could serve as a recreational area, or additional bedroom space. Then, connect an another unit on top of that that hooks up to the Master bedroom to allow for a huge Master, 4-5 bed, 3 bath home with a deck and kitchen. If the original was paired down to $50k with all appliances, it would be really cool to see the general use rooms be cut down to 30-40k, and be a "buy as you need" model. Absolutely incredible idea.
Yes that's exactly what they're doing here. This 2 story design is 3 of their boxes combined together. You can customize them to fit your needs. He mentions in the video how the downstairs 2 bedrooms could be one giant master suite instead. You could attach multiple of them together to form 1 big home.
Thank you for this video! I also saw your previous video on this subject but this video surpassed my imagination. This fits so well with the transformation the world is in right now. I really believe in this way of living in which there is as much as possible for reasonable prices. I myself worked in the construction industry for a few years and did not understand why it all had to be so inefficient and expensive. I hope this concept goes global. Thanks again for your work on this fascinating youtube channel.
Camera man, you need to show us the room from the opening of the door and scan the room slowly left-to-right and right-to-left so we can actually get a sense of the room before you go into any details we don't need to see the man talkin he can still be talking while you scan the room it's crazy that most people have no clue how to show a house
I didn’t see any laundry facilities. Also I think the kitchen makes more sense on the second floor with easy access to the deck. I just think about everyone tromping through my room to get to the deck and wincing. Imagine if the sink had an accordion pass-thru window to the deck then the plumbing would be on the wall central to the house. It could line up with the bathrooms downstairs and be easier to insulate against colder climates since nothing would be on an outside wall except the kitchen sink. It’s a fun idea of a build but I see a lot of tweaking needed and imagine the best first customers will be the ones that give firsthand insight to those tweaks.
I love this new idea. A couple of questions. I have. 1. For the 2 story home, could the 2 or 3 bedrooms be placed upstairs? 2. Can a bath tub replace the shower? 3. Living room have the kitchen area, half rest room and washer/dryer and dinning room 4. Patio area be placed on the lower level 5. Can a regular staircase work in the 2 story house? 6. How is the heating/cooling, electrical, gas, plumbing and water installed? This was a fantastic video! I’m so excited to hear your reply to the questions Thank you so much .
I actually lived with a spiral staircase but it was actually over two and a half feet wide and the stairs were very wide on the outside and there was a very large rounded a handrail of course was on top of all of the iron rods that supported it and I must say that it was very difficult to get anything up and down that stairs that was bigger than a man or woman meaning forget trying to get a chair or a mattress or a piece of furniture it was just so impossible and so difficult and doing anything like taking a laundry basket up and down was not an easy job either so all in all I would say a spiral staircase isn't a good idea for anyone over the age of 18 and obviously adults are usually going to live in a home so I would say never make a spiral staircase unless it is a secondary set because definitely you need a set that are actually able to be safe and functional and truly practical
The spiral staircase didn't seem all that sturdy either. Probably why people were forced to use the outside staircase. Also there didn't seem to be a door or hatch for the staircase. How are you supposed get any privacy. 😅
@@DG-yd4nhMaster bedroom would be better on the ground floor. I don't know why many builders tend to put the master on the 2nd floor and other bedrooms downstairs when the master bedroom is the one bedroom that is always going to be in use. Makes more sense to have the master on the ground floor.
What I am wondering is how many years do clients have to wait on their boxabl house? They sold 160’000 houses, the clients made a down payment and are now on a waiting list. In a newer interview of boxabl they said they could produce 400 houses per year. So that would actually mean that some clients will have to wait up to 360 years on their boxabl house. 🤔
My big question is, what happens if there's a lot of rain, will the water seep through where the walls and ceilings join? Need information about insulation and waterproofing.
Only issue I see so far is the lack of closet space. They do wonders with the space but if you’re someone that has a lot of clothes or shoes this may be an issue. Otherwise I like the design and the fact that they are trying to keep it cost friendly to most people.
I agree that the closets are small. If the master suite was on the ground floor than you wouldn't have the sliding door going out to the deck so you could increase the size of the closet. It's completely customizable so I'm sure you can order it however you like.
This is the future, I love it!!! Gives this millennial hope for owning a home of his own. I want one, when can I buy one?!?!? This is just absolutely Amazing
Before considering this I would love to see 10,000 Boxabl casitas lived in for a few years in the tremors of California, hurricanes of Florida and winters of New England. It feels like Boxabl is trying to sell me a Big Mac before cooking the hamburger I ordered. Lots of hype and push for investment money, little on the side of products that people can actually buy anytime in the near future.
Boxabl only started assembly line production for 1st time in Q4 2021 (16 months ago)... They built 33 units in Q4 2021... And 123 more units in 1st half of 2022, to finish 156 unit order for Department of Defense... And Boxabl completed production of their 300th unit, right before Christmas 2022 (so ~270 units produced in 2022)... Units produced in 2nd half 2022 were going to a remote Arizona Mine... Boxabl wants to deliver early units to non-consumers in the first couple years, to test them out and make change for "Generation 2" Casitas, which are planned to enter production in 2023... So, unlike others who want to be the 1st to live in these units, you actually want to wait and see to believe... Not a bad plan, let the bulk order customer clients be the guinea pigs before direct-to-consumer sales...
Thank you the Boxabl Houses are amazing! We desperately needed to downsize, it's time to make home ownership available to everyone! Thank you, excellent job!!
Ellie, Great interviews! I hope they choose TX for a MUCH more central location! But I'd really like to see them in the Carolina's with a factory!!! Either way, I want 1 or 2 Casita models in NC and another near Cape Canaveral in FL. I'm praying the regulatory hassles get solved quickly! Cheers, Eric
@Heidi Celeridad I heard $2-4/mile delivery. County permit and site prep is always a massive variable. I'm planning to use it as a cabin/retreat at a lake & mountain near my daughter. Thanks for the Boxabl update Ellie. I like the 3br, 2.1**ba design and being able to deploy more boxabl on a piece of property you may own as needed is something I hadn't really thought about until hearing it in this video. Looking forward to the continued coverage.
I know this is nitpicky, but it was 2.5 bathroom... There is tiny half bath hiding at the bottom of the spiral staircase... perfect for guests not needing to go into bathrooms for those who live there...
@@rule1capital Not nitpicking at all, thank you for the correction. I saw it in the video, don't know why I left it out in my comment. My current area 3br, 2.1 bathrooms is going for $400-$600k+ for a well lived in home so this was quite refreshing to think you could plop one of these down somewhere for $150-250k whatever they end up being sans site preparation. Excited to see what the future holds if this is the beginning.
@@Devilsmed98 Things for Boxabl building shells will really get interesting at the next scale of Megafactory, where you could have a 2 20x40 units stacked vertically... And offset by 15... so you could get a "free" 20x15 walkout 2nd floor patio upstairs and "free" 20x15 covered garage downstairs...

Like you said, all that needs to be done first they'll figure out a program to get a slice of it.

The two story boxabl is extra appealing because it meets a lot of minimum size requirements for areas that aren't tiny home friendly. The Casita model would often have to be relegated to a secondary dwelling unit status in most areas, so I'm really happy to see you guys using the success of the product to leap frog into something more feasible for "normal" buyers as well I do think boxabl is the future of housing. It's takes care of so many issues in regards to affordable housing
Ellie this is a wonderful exploratory short! I'll be interested to hear in the future how and when they begin to resolve local building regulation issues. It reminds me of Teledesic working through the global international issues of a LEO internet constellation in the early 2000's. Those giant steps helped pave the way for StarLink, OneWeb, etc.
I’m curious about the energy efficiency of these. Do they have any numbers for energy usage? Having a quick set up up time and relative low cost for entry is awesome but I always want to know the long term cost. I would assume that because they are factory built the panels would tight but what about the connection points? I don’t know that I have ever heard anyone talk to this.
Have you thought of, for the future builds that you want larger models is to stand today's build length and unfold the whole four or six panels that presently include floor, ceiling, and two wall and keep all the same but on cnc have the windows and all, just rotate 90°, have 4 say Casitas on end unroll to make a two story home outside walls, when its 20' long make it tall 20' then. join those together keep a center core like the kitchen inner wall with all the main elements of plumbing, electric and Kitchen any brains of the house in that core where that needs to happen and that is one floor unrolled for the same but also the walls are structural for the 2nd floor. Spiral stairs will be on the out side where another outside door cut out will be added and just have fastener components to drop on the walls edges will house the reciprocal fastener and it will attach the three hinged walls for the staircase to the outside wall with floor to keep it square. Bottom core can be structured to hold 2nd floor so outside walls don't bare the whole 2nd floor. Then another core upstairs to have bathroom and and wall attached closet and storage to 9.5 feet and a custom ladder added to place and store their items only used occasionally but they won't part with. 9.5 feet is Great as if shallow cabinets can be option. Most of the new plant might use 3d cad draw to place all fasteners alignments for any new models or custom fixtures stored in CNC memory to just scroll and press start never use a tape in that department again just hang the components and they are exactly mounted and all hole and electrical chases all cut bye CNC. Wire harnesses prewired and cut to length and striped ends for 110v or any needs couplings in place where all ends are just snapped together. So it's interchangeable wall pannels and all wall cutouts rolled 90° and if needed structured edge brackets installed to be bearing for 2nd floor.
I'm also wondering if they could some sort of disaster relief unit that could be set up easily for victims to have someplace to have a safe temporary shelter, that can be taken down, cleaned and stored for later use...
Great concept looking forward to it. One suggestion as a cook in future models can you design the stove in the middle of the counter tops and not next to the fridge. Just a suggestion. Keep it up 👍
If I were a well off person I would purchase land to put different styles of Boxabl homes on it like having a community of Boxable homes. I would give people the option to purchase the homes from me or to rent them or maybe even rent to own. Something has to be done about the working homeless and low income people that can not afford rent for these high priced apartments. I would rather have something like this than the other alternative where the major cities in the US start looking like the shanty towns of South Africa and India. The Boxable homes are not fancy but they still look nice and much better than shanty towns.
Brilliant… and exciting… I LOVE THESE ( and I’m an old retired architect ) I’m pleased also that you chose to diversified your product mix to another industry that NEEDS disruption… beyond Tesla cars / solar / SpaceEx all things Elon. … As it appears … in manufactured housing the Boxable casita / expansion is more then “just different” it’s a design well done … I’m still watching now… but solar is the missing “off grid” … “accessory “! Maybe it just needs an additional off house solar collector frame?… (if there is not enough roof surface to mount enough properly positioned solar collectors on top.
Boxabl (modular) is definitely shaking up onsite and offsite... They were just trying to show off how/where you could put your Tesla accessories... Would probably need to upgrade standard 200 amp utility box with base Boxabl, if you were going to have all Boxabl outlets, HVAC, washer/dryer, Tesla Level 2 car charger, battery backup, and solar array...

Fantastic reporting Young Ellie👍
We can’t even maintain a stable birthrate globally. Only africa is spittin em out. Everywhere else is at or below replacement births. We aren’t colonizing any planets anytime soon unless we start having families of 4-8 in the developed world again. Even india and Mexico and Brazil have low birth rates now. I really like this design and love all of the windows, including skylight roof. I wouldn’t want this home on a busy street or in a crowded neighborhood. I’d prefer land with surrounding trees for privacy. The stargazing from bed would be fantastic!
Me personally I would change out the deck for another room or to make the master suite larger I prefer the deck be on the first floor separate from the home but that's just me.
When Boxabl starts building 20x40 units at next scale of Megafactory... You could get a "free" walkout patio, without giving up the square footage, by offset aligning a 2nd story 20x40 15 feet over the 1st story 20x40... That would give you a 20x15 walkout patio upstairs, a 20x15 ceiling for a garage to be fitted out downstairs, and still get all the square footage of 4 20x20 equivalent units...
50 years ago I worked at a company called United Modular of Delaware. We built modular homes on an assembly line, then hauled to sections to the job site where they were set up on a foundation and finished. Of course, ours didn't fold up. 😎
@@MichaelMacherey Also, tons of people, especially Tesla fans like myself, have asked about the solar question over the past 2 years... For the single Casita, I believe you run into an issue of not enough roof space...

Inflation
@@dylankmorgan studios already exist and at least they’re in multifamily properties.
He kept saying throughout the interview that finishes and other things would be different and this is just a prototype.
@@arcbrush lucky you! In the U.S. it's much less expensive for one of these versus traditional home build....
ADU's were once considered for the elderly, but almost every adult could benefit from having cheaper housing options. Boxable is rocking it. Housing has not evolved for the masses and needs to catch up to what most can afford AND is energy efficient.
You still have to buy the land which is the expensive part.
My cousin works here and its so cool!!!
Boxabl is a game changer. I can't wait until Vegas allows for multiple Boxabl ADU's on the same lot.
I can see this for those of us in the military that don't want to live on base in a crappy old over regulated house that we can have shipped to another base so we have the same home. I am impressed! I was a foreman for Habitat for Humanity, and I can really see this to help the homeless and lower income community.
I thought the same my family was in the Canadian military….those homes would look great on a base!
God bless you all for using your gifts to think of others In this world where so many have become
"Lovers of themselves"
As a senior this is still not
financially feasible for me
but am thankful to see this available for young people to be able to realize a home of their own one day You can see
and hear the thoughtfulness that has been put into your design
You guys are awesome
👏👏👏
Thanks for making housing more affordable! Everyone deserves a decent shelter - Shouldn’t be a problem in modern days anymore with all the advancement in technology.
It's quite funny to hear about companies like this because it is already super common to build houses from elements in Finland. You basically just lift walls and roof into place and than just finish the interior and your are done.
humans make things harder and pollute more.
Not for hurricane or tornado prone states.
Excellent production value as always... And great 3rd Boxabl video...
I’m hoping to finally hear and see more about the building science (air control, water control, thermal control layers with blower door test results etc) aspect of these. I encourage you to include these things in your reporting.
SO BEAUTIFUL "THE CASITA"!! AND I GOT IMPRESSED WITH THE SELLER WHO SHOWED YOU "THE CASITA"!!👍👍👍👍
Great video Ellie! Paolo was really generous with his time and information. Great tour. I could live in a Boxabl no problemo.
The time the Boxable staff allotted for the interviews was great and showcases how engaged they are with the communities interested in their products. Hopefully they can be the gold standard they are aiming for to allow for widespread disruption and availability.
Best Comment on here!!! The only thing I would add is; it's about time some Brave Souls took on the Task of Revolutionzing the housing Industry!!! YAY
You realize they paid for these interviews right? They have tons of negative publicity on the company being a fraud.
This is what I've been waiting for! Great news! Now, let's get those approvals, and get this thing on the market!
You're a liar these are depreciating assets
Skylight sunroof house just because the signs are in the sun, moon and the stars .
This company is GENIUS!
Great video, you asked all the best questions and showed an excellent tour.
On the spiral staircase could you replace it with an elevator. At my age of 72 I am finding stairs harder and harder to deal with.
Right, that would be much better!
I think someone could do that for you I'd be speaking to elevator companies.
Can’t climb up loaft !
Fantastic stuff. I'm loving the constant iteration and the deck looks awesome.
There is stairs outside that goes to the deck. They don’t have to go through the room
Small space in upstairs bedroom had a washer/dryer combo.
Awesome video Ellie!
Coming over!
Mr. Modular Kerry makes an awesome cameo!
I love this new idea.
A couple of questions. I have.
1. For the 2 story home, could the 2 or 3 bedrooms be placed upstairs?
2. Can a bath tub replace the shower?
3. Living room have the kitchen area, half rest room and washer/dryer and dinning room
4. Patio area be placed on the lower level
5. Can a regular staircase work in the 2 story house?
6. How is the heating/cooling, electrical, gas, plumbing and water installed?
This was a fantastic video! I’m so excited to hear your reply to the questions
Thank you so much
.
Thank You Ellie!! Nice work!
Love it - perfect for my small family- comfortable and spacious. Amazing
Probably why the washer/dryer was in the master bedroom..
That’s why they had a full wide staircase going down from the upstairs deck. That’s how you would move furniture in and out.
I would do a shaftless elevator. The deck is a must an entry way to the deck to get the furniture in.
as someone on the wait list im so glad a man with three homes got his. thats great.
😂😂😂😂😂 I did that math too lol
They'll ramp up the production
I think they currently can do 400 a year but they're building a massive 3rd factory that they claim will keep up with the market demand, we'll see!
Como on they are just starting and it’s a great idea. I’m sure they will eventually open more warehouses to produce more.
I am curious what their solutions are for water drainage with the flat roof design. Are the roof edges designed to accept rain gutters?
My big question is, what happens if there's a lot of rain, will the water seep through where the walls and ceilings join? Need information about insulation and waterproofing.
Right to me they are luxury tents
Thank you Ellie !!!!! You are the best !!!!! BY FAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! Thank you!
@@ellieinspace And kind about it !!!!!
Agreed. It wouldn't work for me due to tiny closet spaces.
This is the future, I love it!!! Gives this millennial hope for owning a home of his own. I want one, when can I buy one?!?!? This is just absolutely Amazing
Excellent interview keep up the great work, 👍 I think there will be a demand to stay in these as Airbnb's
Wish much success to boxable 👍
This is really nice! Make that deck, the master bedroom suite, and you'd have a winner.
Thank you the Boxabl Houses are amazing! We desperately needed to downsize, it's time to make home ownership available to everyone! Thank you, excellent job!!
Ellie,
Great interviews!
How much for a studio tiny house plus shipping and installing?
@Heidi Celeridad I heard $2-4/mile delivery. County permit and site prep is always a massive variable.
I'm planning to use it as a cabin/retreat at a lake & mountain near my daughter. I could totally live in one of these full-time. I'd like a 2 bay garage too.

Two!!! One on each side with a deck in between
Ellie, you certainly have a style of presenting videos that is all your own. Thx for being so entertaining on my grey days.
@@Devilsmed98 The boxable cost doesn't include the cost of the land, the cost of foundation, the cost of connecting water and electric and sewage and probably some other costs that I'm not thinking of.
@@kylelieb2977 Yes, site preparation as I mentioned above to Gregory. I saw on their website they have a partnership with a third party company to get your permits for the Boxabl. I'm sure in the future they would start adding partnerships for site preparation contractor as another way to generate revenue as well. Like you said, all that needs to be done first they'll figure out a program to get a slice of it.
Great video! Great tour! Tons of good information! Thank you!
I love these vids on affordable housing. The expense will arise trying to connect these houses to the local grid and water/sewage networks.
The expenses arise when people realize they need to find a place to put it.
Thank you, I love BOXABL!!!
Awesome, Ellie.
Love! ❤️ This is such a WINNER 🏆 Keeping the Price and Quality are Key!
I loved this idea! What I’m concern about is with the changes in weather, will this stand a strong wind or that how does the water or snow drainage from the flat roof?
I am all in on this unit layout!! I REALLY like this prototype. Planning now!! :)
Beautiful, Affordable & Wonderful!! Striving for Amazing. No One can do Like you. All are the Hardest Works. I'm so proud of your Achievement Success!!!🎉
The two story boxabl is extra appealing because it meets a lot of minimum size requirements for areas that aren't tiny home friendly.
The Casita model would often have to be relegated to a secondary dwelling unit status in most areas, so I'm really happy to see you guys using the success of the product to leap frog into something more feasible for "normal" buyers as well
I do think boxabl is the future of housing. It's takes care of so many issues in regards to affordable housing
This is amazingly gonna change the world. Housing i feel like housing is the main cause of problems these days. I'd love to work for this company
Probably not much savings on conventional construction or resales after you add the costs for land, garage, plumbing and electrical.
Thanks ellie. Love the interviews
Ellie is amazing!
We need this in Florida ASAP. Rent prices are crazy here!
I think if you watch the earlier videos from the first smaller one, they talk about the R values and what not.
Love, love, love!!!!! I'm in love, and I want it!
Can't wait to have boxabl build my 22 home community in the future
Fabulous interview Ellie. So did you find out how much $$ the 2-story single family home costs ... to purchase and have installed in Texas?
Good question! For those who didn’t watch or who might have missed it, the CEO said this about it… 13:27
So interested! If price is better than custom build, or used, I'd definitely use this for my future home.
North Carolina would be a great choice for a factory
I'm also wondering if they could some sort of disaster relief unit that could be set up easily for victims to have someplace to have a safe temporary shelter, that can be taken down, cleaned and stored for later use...
Great concept looking forward to it. One suggestion as a cook in future models can you design the stove in the middle of the counter tops and not next to the fridge. Just a suggestion. Keep it up 👍
I concur in the stove placement.
Great story, thankyou for the indepth coverage.
Glad you enjoyed it! :-)
That's the one we're waiting for.
God bless us.
Brilliant… and exciting… I LOVE THESE ( and I’m an old retired architect )
I’m pleased also that you chose to diversified your product mix to another industry that NEEDS disruption… beyond Tesla cars / solar / SpaceEx all things Elon. …
As it appears … in manufactured housing the Boxable casita / expansion is more then “just different” it’s a design well
done …
I’m still watching now… but solar is the missing “off grid” … “accessory
“!
Great Idea! Would LOVE to start a Humanity Project in Missouri for our Veterans and Disabled! Housing is a Major Problem and the Wait Lists are Years Long!
I wish I could purchase enough boxables to build a little housing community for college students. I went to college on full scholarship, but I know plenty who had to worry about housing cost on top of tuition. I don’t think a college student should have to deal with that much stress. Most of my friends say that college was our most stressful time
Love these. Another banger vid Ellie. ❤
Thank you!!! 🌹🫶
Nice presentations. They should integrate solar roof or solar panels into these units.
can't wait to purchase!
I’m living in Ireland and these modular buildings would sell like hot cakes over here. Someone had a genius moment having Elon associated with the first Casita. I wonder if I’m detecting a theme here, SpaceX, Cyberlandr and boxable? If we are to truly to become a multi planetary species we will need some way to get there and some where to live right? Fantastic reporting Young Ellie👍
A Boxabl Casita, under a Glass Geodesic Done, would be an interesting combination, as well!
Literally the entire world needs to fix the demographic crisis
Why would they sell like hot cakes in Ireland?
@@Jekyll_Island_Creatures - I guess you haven't been to Ireland! 🤔😁😂
Elon musk is the one who called boxabl. He wanted to buy the first prototypes.
I love how liberating this will be for people 😊
will this two story boxabl survive a florida hurricane? what about foundation? what square feet is it? includes garage/ info desried. with 167k back log i dont expect to see it anytime soon.
Also have u consider making a box that is for handicapped and for seniors in mind.
I really like this design and love all of the windows, including skylight roof.
I wouldn’t want this home on a busy street or in a crowded neighborhood. I’d prefer land with surrounding trees for privacy. The stargazing from bed would be fantastic!
I LOVE the idea of construction inspired by legos!!! It's awesome and satisfying to just snap things into place!!!
Bring one to the Canadian winters. I wanna see what happens.
i wonder if they have any plans for a basement version. Have not seen any modular basements yet. If anyone has seen some, please let me know.
Icf is essentially Lego basement
50 years ago I worked at a company called United Modular of Delaware. We built modular homes on an assembly line, then hauled to sections to the job site where they were set up on a foundation and finished. Of course, ours didn't fold up. 😎
WOW, that noise that you let escape, at 31:57.....me too & Yes!!!
Would love this for our property in Mexico.
So great to see your channel and happy you're covering content like Boxabl. I will share this link with our favorite gal Sally!
Have a chalange for Boxable. Make a home that is totally addable for ADA persons with disibailetys.

In my opinion Boxable should integrate solar roofs by default, and a heat pump for airconditioning please!
Boxabl Casita 20x20 uses a Mitsubishi mini-split for both Heating and Cooling... To save space, it is located above the kitchen window...
@@rule1capital Thank you for the info!
@@MichaelMacherey Also, tons of people, especially Tesla fans like myself, have asked about the solar question over the past 2 years... For the single Casita, I believe you run into an issue of not enough roof space...
How do you connect utilities and sewer with the boxabl homes? Is solar power involved?
I'm sure they will add that option for solar at some point for an extra 20k
It reminds me of my invention idea. Mine was less a square box, and more with a hexagon design. Much more modular, and much more artistic in completed look. Not so foldable, but still stackable. Not really so quick, but still easy while following the plans.
The folding is the real innovation. Being able to ship as standard shipping is huge.
@@charleslivingston2256 Not so much. The folding is nice for speed of setup. Mine, just like theirs, is stackable. I just didn't hinge them together.
@@PaulADAigle the whole thing revolve around folding. that's how they enable shipping further distance without huge cost. otherwise, the cost saving in the factory will be offset by the shipping cost which essential zero them out. There is reason why house is the way it is today.
I’m jazzed.❤ Being in Austin sounds pretty good, too.
