I have a 2023. For most things, it's all the "truck" I need. I can tow a boat with it. If I need a longer bed, I have a trailer. If I need something bigger, I have a full-size Chevy that'll pull anything I've ever wanted to pull. So far, I haven't needed it. All-wheel drive is just for extra traction on boat ramps. I'm more interested in the "just washed look" than I am off roading, so no issues there.
interesting - I dunno about that but Durango and the surrounding area has some unique geology. I like that you're looking past the truck and focusing on the mountains! :)
I live in New Zealand my man. In NZ we have a choice of 10-brands offering vehicles just like this! Ford. Toyota. Mitsubishi. Nissan. Chevy. VW. Mercedes. Isuzu, and two Chinese ones that are coming on strong. It is very difficult to find a conventional long bed, two door, pickup here.
@@michaelrossssss In Australia as well. The Mercedes-Benz X-Class 2023 prices range from AU$39,710 for the basic trim level Dual Cab X-Class D Pure (2WD) to AU$89,870 for the top of the range Dual Cab X-Class D Edition 1 (4Matic).
I bought one in December, my only complaint is I wish the truck bed was longer. It’s a bit of a struggle putting a bike in . It’s not an off road vehicle.
Wish we could post pics, I have a fin on the back of mine which does help when running at high speed on the highway covered in snow. One warning, I slid the front end into a curb on black ice, (drivers side) at 25 mph. $1600.00 for ball joint, tie rod, and front bearing and shaft. That convinced my that offloading is out, but going from pavement to dirt and back again to pass people on the green lane...very smooth transition. You might hear turbo whine above 90, very pronounced at 120mph, 135... no different
We signed up for a 2022 version and were on "list" and would be informed when it was at a dealer near us (So Cal) ! We were never called ! After months of waiting and searching, we started to see limit amounts in dealer adds. When contacting the dealer for info and pricing we we never given a price and when told that we had the cash, were strongly asked to go in and tal. Came to learn that the dealers were asking 8-12k in markups for "market adjustment" but were unwilling to explain what that was and why they added it. Bought a Jeep instead for a fair price. WILL NEVER CONSIDER BUYING A CAR FROM KIA OR HYUNDAI !!!I
The problem w/ this "truck" is by the time you load it up with features, its starting price of $27k goes to $45k.... and youre on a CV based powertrain which sucks from durability standpoint. You can get a rock crawling Ranger for that price built body on frame... This is an attractive option if you keep the add-ons and price below $30k and use it as a car and house-plant hauler for the wife.
Yeah I agree with you it's compromised for sure. I think it makes sense for a lot of people, but personally my subaru crosstrek is for sale right now and next up for me is a toyota truck. I was going farther and farther offroad in my subaru and did not enjoy the tough trails in that car. So agreed.
Yes. I can see the point on the price, however.. With a back injury it is harder for me to climb up into, or fall down into a vehicle. I have no issues with the top speed of 135mph, which most trucks are stock governed at less than 100 mph. Backing it in and out of our two car garage is also very easy.
Great video here my friend! I would imagine that it is much easier to find these in stock as compared with incredibly long lead times and dealer markups currently from Ford Maverick dealerships? This Santa Cruz is much more upscale that the Maverick in my opinion, that is how Ford can have an incredibly low base price for the hybrid model.
Well, FORD has that covered too. In 2026 FORD will introduce the RANCHERO which will, as all FORD models do, outsell the HYUNDAI like it does for all other brands. !
It’s only a good buy if the final price is under 30k otherwise the other options are just better. 2nd, it’s just looks to feminine. A more el cam8no style would be better for me.

Great job on this video, looking forward to more.
Thanks! I've got some cool stuff lined up for this spring.
Reminds me of my 1981 Dodge Rampage
Jeez, those snow mountains are bald.... no trees.... in CALIFORNIA, snow mountains like those are covered with thick forests....

I have a 22 it’s amazing

Wow, there is a 2023 Mercedes Ute! I'd love to check out New Zealand.

I broke a control arm on my legacy sliding on ice into a curb, I feel like I was doing like 5

I think the dealers are more to blame than the car manufacturers. The car company was willing to sell it to you at list price, the dealer wasn't.
Great video. Love the Santa Cruz
Thanks Alex

Mine is the same color as well, 2023 Sel Premium, that turned can eat some gas when you get all the way on it.
not a truck until you dent it. SEL AWD non turbo. Exactly what I needed a mule, that is easy to park in the city.
Say as in 1960's El Camino , Ranchero.
