Visit Lane Museum//First Drive in the Autozam AZ1 1600lbs Revs to 11K
In this episode I visit my friend Rex, the education director at the Lane Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. After a quick look around we head down to "The Vault" to pick up the Autozam AZ-1 and I rip across town to my friend Greg's. Greg has raced PPIHC for 10 years so naturally he killed it with the drivebys, and he gives us a few of his thoughts on this JDM icon at the end.

Greg Turned a 2WD Camper and 4WD Passenger Van into This Globetrotter
Просмотров 5 тыс.День назад
Check out Greg's website here: www.boxeer.com/ This Vanagon is the union of a 2WD Westfalia Camper and 4WD passenger van. Greg mated the two vans, swapped in a diesel engine and with his wife drove the van down to the southern tip of South America. The trip included operating elevations up to 18,000 ft, super fine desert sand and all-penetrating dust, extreme temperature changes and rugged road...
This '08 Tacoma and 1975 Chinook Are Now One

The Chinooks of the 1970's were your Toyota home on wheels. Rob gave a new life to this Chinook camper when he mated it to his 2008 2.7L 2TR-FE 4WD 5speed manual Toyota Tacoma. The Chinook originally came with a manual pop top, Rob built this electronically actuated pop-top himself. Rob works at Vanlab Durango where we filmed this video, and he has over two years into this, his personal project...

Really enjoyed the video, and very cool van!
Really cool little car, and great video!
Wow! Those fly byes are seriously fast! Love the video and next time at the Lane maybe the Renault 16s or Renault TURBO ❤
@@Syncrogreg thanks! We hired a professional racing driver
coolest dad fr
@@griffinlyon haha yeah they go on a lot of adventures ✨
Amazing! I really wish i didn’t live in the middle of nowhere. I would deeply enjoy working at an automotive museum. Nothing interests me more! Great video. Incredibly cool car. Absolutely love the AZ-1.
@@Follett2121 thanks for watching!
Did you make or steal this video? I want to give credits to the right person.
@@nieks.7326 uh I made it
@@michaelrossssssno you fuckin didnt bruh
Apparently you stole your brain since you clearly don't know how to use it.
❤great vehicle
Cool van, but that LT40 in the background. Now that’s the one to have.
He has both! The LT40 I *think* has his new 1.4T gasoline engine... he's been putting some videos on his channel
Yeah. Super cool 🤘🤘🤘
So stocked! This video is clutch 😂
I find the T3 the most beautiful Transporter there is! I myself own a T4 ACV which is an amazing camper and daily driver but damn this little beast makes me jealous!
Awesome video, great visual storytelling, cool interview and project. I personally think you can be a bit more brave with saturation with the color grade :)
I agree!
holllyyy this guy gets it! I just bought a 2.1 4wd vanagon. Really interested in how he converted from gasoline to diesel~!
Link in description he sells these engine kits ;)
oooooooo this is goooood
thanks for watching!
If you’re super familiar with chinooks, proceeds to pronounce it wrong
Awesome ❤
Appreciate it
Sick build. I'm currently building a 4x4 chinook using a 77 chinook and an 88 toyota 4x4. I love the roof lift mechanism you made.
Good stuff
That's cool. I loved the original Chinook Toyota camoers and this is a great update.
The pass through Is so sick
Sweet build! I’ve got a 2013 single cab 2.7 with a Four Wheel Camper Eagle. I wish I had a pass through. Interested to know what that thing weighs.
Me too
But it’s still a Taco. 😢
Deluxe Taco
This is such a sick build! Great work!
Nice build! Keep an eye on your SPCs, my bushings went after 8k km
Sweet set up .. where did you get the accordion seal at cab .??? I wish to take my rear window out and make a pass through opening
McMaster Carr has pretty good accordiion edge seals for this type of project
@toyotaworldrunners
Wicked cool. Thanks for sharing. Please update as build progresses!
NICE
Should have left it white. That white on black looks so good. That dark paint in the sun is an oven. Good luck trying to cool that thing down in the middle of the summer. Other than that, it looks really good.
Not even dark dude
Push bar is B@d Ass,....
How many miles on that truck ?
I heard removing the oil filter just dumps oil all over the suspension, did that happen to you? I have yet to change the oil on my truck but I’m getting close
Yes it did! Removing the skid plate improves access and cleanup, catch the filter oil in your drain pan and remove the filter with a towel in hand to minimize the mess
It'll be fun to intern down there for a few weeks. Great maker community!
One of the most beautiful car I've seen yet
Start right up
What a snoozer. You need tonpick up the pace for your audience.
Awesome Sprinter! Right up the road here in Alamosa.
hello, what are the tire sizes?
Hello????
Clearly he didn't research jeeps at all just reading stats
I spent several hours researching
The guy doing the interview is the definition of an air head.
STFU you piece of shit, he did fine.
damn I was wondering how much he was gonna say he paid after saying he got a really good deal on it and DAMN was I surprised when he said 12k. I imported myself one all said and done for 5.2k
In what condition? The closest importer to me has 3rd gens going for 14-17k just just do detail and oil change and sell it.
@ just needed to replace the rear window motor. Less than 200k km. Manual turbo diesel.
I got one from Duncan with 29k mi. I like RHD in a slower vehicle because the idiots who pass on the right are never in my blind spot.
I know the pain of having to source parts from overseas, I'm up around Tahoe and 90% of my parts come from Australia. Still can't find a dash to replace mt cracked one
Great video and i love your little car. It looks great with the fog lights. Its quirky design and retro looks are so different and its good to be different. They give you a feeling of solidity. I think the colour suits it very well.👍
Thoroughly enjoyed your video. Very entertaining and surprisingly very informative.
Inside Hood release 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sick sick sick! More Econolines please!
I will see if you are still making videos. I recently bought one like this... blue. I love it. If All your content is like this, I will surely start following. 😊. You make learning fun. And I love when you saw the astro and mentioned it. I like all types of vehicles myself. I grew up going to car shows. Joe here in Pennsylvania
And I will not be going through any high water...
no fender flares big mistake.
not a truck until you dent it. SEL AWD non turbo. Exactly what I needed a mule, that is easy to park in the city.
I owe 95 1kz just like yours, but I’m in Kazakhstan. To be fair, I dont really get, why would you pay 12g for 2nd gen 4runner… - there is no options that surf has, that 4runner does not have - 1kz is not good on gas, prone to head cracking, fuel system is quite complicated, and super hard to diagnose. I would advice the owner to buy SPV valve and keep it as spare, as it can stop the car just in about any moment with no warning. I feel like 2nd gen 4runner with 3.4 swap is cheaper, better option and less headache with finding parts for it. To be fair, it can be fun to mod this engine a lil. This engine responds very well to exhaust mods, get or make new dump pipe, install EGT gauge and crank the boos up to 14psi. You can make resistor mod as well ofter you install EGT gauge, you can crank up fuel and boost it will drive waaay faster then now, 4.88 gears on 33s is very good too, or you can get 4.56 gears off a junk yard 2nd gen 4x4 4runner, will help a alot with power on 33s, right now you have 4.10 gears. Get a lunch box locker, will make the world of a difference offroad, you will be amazed how good this thing is offroad with locker. 2nd gen lexus gs300 seats bolt right it, they are waay more comfortable too. If we are talking about 3rd gen, then JDM surf had some cool unique features (compas, spoiler with mirror in the back, super cool instrument cluster etc.) Dont want to sound like hater, I owe exact same car, but I picked it up because RHD diesel cars are not very desirable here therefore cheaper.
