It would be a good ability if it didn't have the targeting it does. It seems to target the middle of a group of enemies - which makes sense in one way as it means that the most enemies will be affected by damage done during the curse, but of course the only towers that will end up hitting something in the middle of a group are artillery which already deal AOE damage and so won't gain too much from the curse. I think it's only really usable with a high damage melee hero who can actually single out the cursed unit.
It probably would be great if the ability target all enemy units in range which means each of them share damage with everyone. They can just reduce the percentage of damage dealt for balancing it. I hope Ironhide can make something about target priority for abilities. For example, the Axethrower from KRF totem ability sucks because they target the wrong unit. It prioritize the nearest enemy to the exit which means the ability got wasted on fast enemy making it not worth to get.

It isn't, really. The reason for that is displayed perfectly at 0:07. What the hell is that targeting? Hunter's Mark targets closest to exit, but Sylvan Curse just doesn't. So they rarely end up on the same target. They also have different cooldowns, so they won't sync up most of the time. Sylvan Curse is a bad ability.
What makes this worse is that you get this ability maxed out for 1750 (including tower cost) while you get weird wood with the smash ability for 1740. Also I feel like the only good thing about ability is the combo with star upgrade that makes the archers sometimes do bleeding.
If we are talking the worst ability in the series, then. Here's the top 5, in my opinion. 1. The crow... (pitiful damage for a high cost) 2. Pickpocket lvl 2 (Only increases the chance by 10% for the same cost. It doesn't even increase the amount you get). 3. Sylvan curse (It looks cool and could be pretty good, if it just a couple of adjustments. Currently it's not worth using). 4. Explosive mines (They deal decent damage, but has too small of an aoe to be useful). 5. The infernal mage's armor thing (It only targets one target, which isn't good cause Vengeance has tons of tough enemies, so it doesn't benefit you much).
For the crow, I think if Ironhide makes the crow disrupt the enemy abilities/basic attack, hinder movement or all of above while dealing at least 2 dmg with very fast att speed then its probably worth to get. Really great against enemy spellcasters or enemy with huge dps
To be honest, this ability can be very deadly. I like to place a lot of barrack choke points within one or two artillery range. So my enemies are almost always clumped up. Then I throw in Vez'nan and suddenly everyone just dies to the massive AoE boost both the tower's curse and Vez'nan's abilities have... I mean normal enemies always die but the tougher guys have no chance of surviving either. So the curse isn't really useless, it's very good in fact... but in specific gameplay styles.
