This turned out to be a very good radio.

I use the DB25-G as a base station along with the exact antenna in the video mounted on a big cookie sheet by an upstairs window. The terrain here is level for the most part, and I easily hit a repeater 17 miles away.

We thinking of trying that exact set up and making a video of it.
I just don't know how big the cookie sheet needs to be. The bigger the better I suppose.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

I keep mine in my SUV with a mag mount and can hit our main repeater about 50 miles away no problem. Great radio for the price if you only need 25 watts.

I agree. I've used my DB25G for awhile now and still like it a lot. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      What antenna are you using?

@@photographywithbrallan1247see our other video. We tested 2. Different antennas.

Glad that you are using real world testing. Where was the base antenna located ? That car antenna is made to work with the metallic car body as a ground plane. The base would be better served with a $40.00 Jpole on the roof. In that configuration you should easily do 6-8 miles.

Good question that I should have covered in the video.
The "base" was actually a second DB-25G mounted in a stationary RAM Promaster Van.
The mobile vehicle actually went about as far as a small car could in direction of our test.
We're talking about going a different direction with a second test. It will be down hill but won't end with rough road.
Thanks for watching and commenting on our first video. It was fun to make and we plan on many more.
      Ideas and comments are appreciated!

Nice job on simplex! I'll bet if y'll were using a repeater at 15 watts with an antenna on top Hill or a bridge, you could have extended well over 10 miles. That's depending on the height of the bridge or the height the antenna tower.

Question what is the difference between the DB20 and DB25 because from testing videos neither come close to there outputs?
