I see an increasing number of vloggers in the Philippines, both Filipino and established foreigners, pushing back against the plague of passport bros, and the ladies in this video exemplify the reasons to do so. When my curiosity about the Philippines began, I subscribed to a lot of channels and have unsubscribed from most, often for the reasons mentioned here. I've also unsubscribed from every shill for Christian Filipina and all foreigner-on-foreigner drama vlogs.
The worst behavior I've seen is exploitation of poverty, often accompanied by thirst trap thumbnails (showing a girl who isn't wearing much), following an attractive woman around with a camera (perv-o-vision), and hitting on women while filming them ("pickup artist" crap). Another loathsome behavior is constantly comparing the Philippines to wherever the vlogger came from and complaining (the older ones often do this). If I want to hear someone complaining incessantly about everything, I'll watch a German.
I saw all this without having subscribed to a single passport bro. I didn't consciously avoid them; I skipped them because of click-bait thumbnails and titles.
To put the negativity aside, this channel is a keeper for me. You ask some really great questions, even if things get a little awkward at times because of language barriers. I've learned a lot about the Filipino mindset from watching your videos, and I've learned things about myself too. You actually interviewed my dream woman at one point. She showed characteristics that I didn't know to be essential to me. They affirmed one of my core values. The interview moved those characteristics from "nice to have" to "must have." So, thanks for that! :-)

Spitting is considered nasty in America. Swearing in public is considered rude or if directed at another person.Swearing and F bombs has become a right of passage here in the west for teens becoming adults. However, most adults would never use bad words in public or mixed company and usually they will not use it in public unless they were raised improperly.

    Thanks - Glynn

On the other hand, I am on guard for the locals that see me as a potential victim. Mostly for the skin tax hustle. It happens on the daily. My opinion is it brings discredit to the whole Philippines experience, at least for me it does.

@@ElectronicNewsNet Ahhh, is that it? Couldn't make any sense of that. I wish she would have elaborated on that some more and explain how that is exploitation. I would think that its a good thing to let the world know how people live outside of their own bubble.

Lack of respect for locals is not acceptable. Spitting and urinating in public are my pet peeves, though it's mainly Filipino guys who do this.

  • @ejtaylor73

Some may see people as rude and disrespectful in how they speak, but to them it is their normal way of speaking. Such as an American being honest and straightforward, but that's just how they talk to each other. Another would be thinking they're being condescending or looking down on a person, when they aren't, again they're just straight forward and will tell someone when they're wrong, it's not meant to be rude, they just don't want to let them continue believing the wrong thing. Same thing with bad habits, in their country they are just normal and not thought of as bad, but for someone that has never experienced that type of behavior, they can see it as bad. Each individual decides if they feel someone is being rude or disrespectful, but you don't know how everyone feels about things when you're talking to them and can't say only things that will make them happy. I think those foreigners are just being themselves based on how they were raised and what's acceptable in their country. This of course does NOT apply to ALL foreigners, there are some that are just angry people and want to make others miserable too.
Thank you Lorie and ladies for the interviews, I hope you all have a wonderful day.

I feel uncomfortable sometimes not knowing if or when im being rude when it comes to filipino customs, mano po which in my understanding is for respecting elders. But who is classed as elder 🤔 for me I'm thinking it's reserved for grandparents but i know this isn't the case. Younger people giving respect to those older than themselves is what i see in most cases when whitnessing this action 🤔 it's a little confusing to me 😬😬✌️🇵🇭
