      @duongtran5094 Her original father was American stationed at the military base in Hawaii. Her mom was Japanese. They divorced and her mom went back to Japan and remarried. This is why when her father came onto the stream, he sounded Japanese. So while Irys is fluent in pronunciation, her vocabulary is lacking and had not seen use for 10+ years. It is also why she is so clueless to western culture, because she is essentially Japanese. This also explains why she is half nephilim, because she is a halfie of Japanese and American.

    Honestly, it's a talent and understandable (so many comedians have made a crack at the English language already for its inconsistency, also British pronunciation and American pronunciation are different to add to this) for her to mispronounce those words. I will miss it when she learns the proper pronunciation of all the words.

    It's painful to see but mostly because it is relatable. I am technically ESL. Craziest one I got wrong was Pisces, I pronounced it as Piss-keh-s like the Japanese pronunciation (ピスケス). Immediately got laughed at but was also told the proper pronunciation. Honestly should've known since I heard it from Fairy Tail lmao

      Isn’t it because in Japanese they were pronouncing Latin’s Piscēs? It’s not your fault, in English it’s the amalgamation of the original Greek Ἰχθύες (ikh thú es) and Latin Pisces. All of which just means fishes of course.
      Germany is more well known of course but some languages don’t use the exonym Germania passed down from Latin but Deutsch.

    • @Leonlion0305
      @Leonlion0305 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@lc9245 Thanks. Yeah, it was because Japan sourced it differently (directly from Latin, instead of through English or Deutsch). From what I later found, it seems like Japan's Greek/Roman mythology related terms (including constellations and planets) are all closer to the Latin pronunciation.
      I didn't know better, now I do though! It's hard to know how to pronounce every word in English since they all depend on their roots.

    In her defense... English is a weird language. I mean, Colonel is pronounced as Ker-nol. Not to mention how Queue is pronounced as just one letter but has 4 silent letters.
    Her pronunciation of IKEA was actually correct though. Turns out you pronounce it the same in both Japanese and Swedish.

      I think IKEA is pronouned wrong only in English. At least in Europe evryone pronounces it the right way.

    The funny thing about the bit with the Greek Gods(/Notable figures, looking at you Diogenes) is that her pronunciations are mostly correct... if you go by the original Greek. Dee-oh-jen-es, poh-say-done, zeh-oos, those are all much closer to how they would have been pronounced in ancient Greece than how we say them now.
