@@magnusauslandstoresletten3786 : All chart music is pop regardless of genre. And Merseybeat is just a label given to bands who emerged from Liverpool at this time. Rock 'n Roll is not confined to Elvis, Bill Haley etc. Over the years it has evolved into a broader spectrum. Even Hard Rock and Heavy Metal is defined as rock' n'' roll and that's a long way from being the rock 'n'' roll of the fifties and early sixties.

U can tell what era this song is from by the equipment & the stripped dwn just singing & playin - not alot of fancy overdubs or computer generatored musical effects. The music had 2 stand on its own!

Tony Hatch wrote this song for The Searchers in '63. Sounds a little like Sheila by Tommy Row from '62

Far better `driven ` sound and vocal construction than the Beatles could ever do

Millions wouldn't agree with you the Beatles were the top group at that time with the Stones not far behind.

This is great song, but sounds of its time. Beatles music from the same year, is ageless.

And yet The Searchers couldn't write a tune to save their fucking lives. Idiot.😅

Someone please find that documentary on them that John Peel hosted. I'm surprised that there's not one documentary about them, here on youtube.

      Epstein.
Ps. And that's not even true because he had no interest in managing local groups until he saw The Beatles.

This version is a cover. The original was by "The Cryan Shames". At least, that's the version i have in my collection.
