just gotta say, I love the addition of the insights into your team mates games. Not only do we get more vintage cube, but also we see some different play styles, but with your commentary on top of it, so I feel like I learn even more.
Yea, I thought the trop was worth taking the first time around, and he passed it twice. I can only assume he just missed it being fetchabe. Happens to the best of us.

At 38:45 during the red zone look-in, I was surprised that Theo didn't activate Kinnan at instant speed. He had infinite colourless mana and his only untapped blue/green lands were about to die. He shortly won anyways, but it still seemed like the right play to make.
Just imagine that final game. A portal to phyrexia shows up, a bunch of phyrexian wreaking havoc. Ulamog shows up and cleans all the phyrexian. Then another portal to phyrexia appears and bunch more phyrexians appear and kill Ulamog.
I’m surprised you took bolt over scalding tarn when you were trying to fit ancestral in. There is a world where the bolt wheels considering how late some of the red was going and the fact that the pack was stacked
Also interesting: jessie ran naya and cut you off, despite you picking your white glut of cards on the wheel. It explains why your pack 3 was so atrocious
Yeah, that's extremely interesting. I think that came after LSV passed the late Intrepid Adversary, Jessie was on gruul and moved into white for pack 3
Especially since Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is in your cube, would you consider adding either Cabal Coffers or Lake of the Dead? In the lands-that-add-multiple-mana department, they seem to me like the most viable further inclusions. (As an aside, I adore what you've done with the lands; quite a few of your additions have been ones I contemplated myself)
Do we like Inti? Luis does, but I've been really underwhelmed jamming it in Standard. My cube plays at a generally lower CMC than standard, so Inti would hit more, but I haven't even given Inti a shot after how mediocre it's been on Arena. I guess I'm running stuff like War-Name Aspirant and Hellspark Elemental, so I can probably find room.
I think people sometimes overstate the amount of skill MTG takes - in my opinion, any competent player is making the same play a huge percent of the time and a ton of games aren't decided by skill at all - but you're so good at playing to what actually helps you win and not what, in a vacuum probably looks like the better play. I'm not sure I'd have had the courage to not bolt that Kinnan towards the end of that insane game, so I'd probably have lost a game you won. Good shit.
It's like this. It will take you little effort to bring your magic win % to 50/50. After that, it takes a lot of effort and deep thinking and strategizing to bring your win % up to something like 55 or 60. It's these small advantages which separates a pro from someone who is just good at the game.
So pissed he passed Baelia over Bolt. Inti + Lotus + Baelia attack for 4 and start drawing you two cards a turn. EDIT: NEVERMIND Game 1 he immediately uses the bolt to kill the Baelia. LSV SEES INTO THE FUTURE.😂
@@piercearora7681Honestly, I am certain there is some underlying reasoning that far exceeds my literal zero knowledge of cube drafting. However, he mentions Laelia by name after drafting Black Lotus, picks Inti, then states Lotus works really well with assertive decks later. By the time he picks Bolt, he has Arc Trail, Solitude, Oust, Palace Jailer, the X damage land spell, and Abrade. Bolt's so busted, but surely 7 removal spells is enough? Quite honestly, I think he opened the Ancestral and got kind of tunnel visioned on going bigger to accommodate it. Huge caveat that I'm a scrub, so just thinking out loud here.
I wonder what the group would think about playing a 'Vintage' vintage cube more in the style of how it looked six or seven years ago. I know a lot of people have expressed their disdain for the increased speed of the average deck and the multitude of commander cards that aren't balanced for 1v1 play. I think it would be fun to see how it looked if we excluded all cards that were printed in supplemental or modern-horizons (i.e. not through standard) products.
So, now that the MTGO Vintage Cube is officially closed… how do I find a way to play during the year? Is there some community I could join on the server to jump in sometimes?
The concede at 28:13 seems a little premature, no? Still had Get Lost to kill the cat and win back the monarchy, and there were outs to be drawn still.
With the power of ancestral, Im surprised scalding tarn wasnt even an honorable mention. Granted your burn was low and everything I know from Cubing is largely because of you so who am I to say😅
Shock is 2 damage and lightning bolt is 3 damage. Shock should really be 1 damage and lightning bolt be 12. A 2 might be the result of a bad electrician if 1 is shock. And that's all I got.
I feel like after othari didnt wheel he probably should have been more proactive in taking cards he wanted over hatedrafting/trying to wheel since he was clearly being contested in boros.
LSV how would you rank the REAL power nine based on current cards available in Magic? I suppose timetwister would not make the cut in the real most powerful cards...
Lsv, why do you keep so bad hands? Like the ones in the match 1. You could REALLY do much better in six with this deck, even in five. You kept a hand with only two spells
Round 1 Game 1, forgets to play a land on turn 5. Is one mana short turn 6. Concedes turn 7. Classic LSV. Edit: Day 2 realize you are completely wrong. Classic RUclips comment section.
I basically watch every vintage cube draft he uploads and I'm confident enough to say, that oracle has never been worth a card except for that last video.
"one of the sickest games I've ever played in Cube" is not a small statement coming from you, I am hyped.

Passed a trop island late in pack 3 that makes Windswept Heath get blue.
Yea, I thought the trop was worth taking the first time around, and he passed it twice. I can only assume he just missed it being fetchabe. Happens to the best of us.
LSV, Black Lotus, and the year 2024: name a more iconic trio.
"I'm probably cutting the ancestral." Wow that sentence did hurt my soul. He is right but still.... hurts
Winning that match has got to do wonderful things for your confidence

That was an absolutely amazing game. Those are the kinds of games that make cube the best format.
1pm est is now my favorite time of day
"I guess we're playing blue!" made me laugh WAAAAY harder than it should have!
Holy goodness that game was wild. Especially relative to the game after it. 😂
For pack 3 pick 7 could you have taken the tropical to turn windswept into U/W? To help cast ancestral.
Yes, that would have been the right pick.
Love that spread of cards at the start
Mack missing with Palantir reminded me of Pat Chapin with Ignite Memories a little too much.
Only true OGs know about that
IIRC, Chapin was much longer odds to whiff on Ignite Memories than Mack was to whiff on Palantir. 😆
@@sjake8308 the stakes were vastly different as well

Theo's deck was both awesome and produced awesome games in every single round. 10/10
Jessies seem to run hot against Louis, reminds me of some of the slaxx matchups 😮
Love your vids, LSV. Keep doing your thing
I’m surprised you took bolt over scalding tarn when you were trying to fit ancestral in. There is a world where the bolt wheels considering how late some of the red was going and the fact that the pack was stacked
I don't think there is a chance to wheel bolt, but did come to the comments to say I like tarn in that spot for the triland.
Yeah, Tarn and trop would've been the correct choices imo. Ancestral is too good not too splash.
LSV drafts are the best!!!
Thanks for covering the other games its enjoyable!

incredible draft!
The game against Theo, it had to be force of negation because FOW costs 1 life if they had FOW then they lose to you pausing chandra

It's very similar in practice to Laelia in the cube, with some reanimator synergy. It's very good.
Any thought in game 1 of equipping the name sticker instead of smashing the captain?
lsv always opens power

Sandydog not at the table=3 white drafters🤣
Ooof pack 1 was pretty slim pickings all around. Tough draft.

Real decks have curves
Man that last game is so tense

Damn scholar of new horizons is pretty cool card, can use it with dark depths to get a bunch of plains lol

Opening lotus, recall and passing tendrils, led, tinker, citadel, turnabout, ritual… cmon Luis, you were the chosen one 😢
You probably should have taken trop since you had a green fetch - keeps you from having to play an Island.
Amazing games!
The concede at 28:13 seems a little premature, no? Still had Get Lost to kill the cat and win back the monarchy, and there were outs to be drawn still.
If he attempts to Get Lost the cat, opponent crews Copter in response and can still protect monarchy

Which land is lsv using? They are sick
I’m sure it’s a question of disciplined deck building, but I feel like Luis loses to flood a lot more than he does screw.
Petiton to rename LSV: Light Sandydog Version
Passing snapcaster here seemed pretty wild. Snapcaster, ancestral, counterspell are a stronger package than any of the red
Snapcaster is functionally a double blue card if you want to flash back Ancestral. LSV's mana was never supporting it here.
23:34 turns out Kaldra Compleat wouldn’t have been the literal worst card he could draw.
14:10 screams in Caleb Gannon's voice take mana tithe!
