- One of the most revolutionary and influential fashion designers of his time, Martin Margiela has remained an elusive figure the entirety of his decades-long career. From Jean Paul Gaultier’s assistant to creative director at Hermès to leading his own House, Margiela never showed his face publicly and avoided interviews, but reinvented fashion with his radical style through forty-one provocative collections. Now, for the first time, the “Banksy of fashion” reveals his drawings, notes, and personal items in this exclusive, intimate profile of his vision.
The film features interviews with, among others, Margiela himself, Jean Paul Gaultier, Carine Roitfeld, Trend Forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort, Fashion Critic Cathy Horyn, and fashion historian Olivier Saillard. The score has been composed by the Belgian rock band dEUS.

I remember reading about him when I was in fashion school back in 1991
He just came on to the scene, and I was so shocked by his sensibility and how he thought about fashion and design. I wasn't sure who he was or if he would have longevity or not in the fashion industry.
Leaving the House was the culmination of his art.
So exciting... can't wait to see this.

I wander what his taste was like as to what his sensitivities were etc and to how it came into the style but I think what made the style was the different questions or assignments persay that brought him to take those perspectives. The way he saw objects as a means of communication in communicating thier beliefs and a mindset on behalf of thier natural beauty that’s what made him seem like a minimalist but he wasn’t he just saw that was it.

I've actually never seen his pieces in public at first i thought he was a scam then i learnt people really do take him seriously and since then I've been researching him so i dont sound stupid among my peers 😂

That shows the stupidity of fashion, it’s rich people giving meaningless things meaning and judging others based off that shit. Classism at its finest. There are a million Martin magielas oit there but you’d never know unless people talked about them
