- How to make JAPANESE CHICKEN QUESADILLAS - Cooking with Chef Dai
A quesadilla is a heated tortilla with melted cheese inside.
I've including some less than traditional fillings to put a Japanese twist on this classic Mexican dish. I don't simply add Japanese ingredients for the sake of adding ingredients to call it "Japanese".The ingredients must harmonise with one another and ultimately the dish must taste great. Believe me when I tell you, this is one of my favourite recipes.
The rice has a wonderful "mochi" chewy texture. The Chicken teriyaki, cheese and mayonnaise work so well together. The sweet sauce is balanced out wonderfully with the creamy mayonnaise and savoury cheese.
This would make a perfect evening meal for the family, perhaps served with a side salad or even a lunch box meal for the kids.
Thanks for watching!!!!!

Thank you to 24Jackmusic for picking up on my blaringly obvious school boy error at 1:30. It is indeed a green pepper and NOT a green onion 🤦♂️
Dai, you are very welcome! I love your videos, because they are so authentic and entertaining. Keep it up that way, mate!
We will forgive you if you give us 5 more videos!
I did not notice the error, but green onions would be delicious too.
Keep it up chef dai. Like & subscribed. Please teach us more cool japanese receipes like oyakudkn and gyudon ones. Love it
Perfect time to come back to RUclips. Let's see if we can get you to 1 million subs before the year ends.
Thanks so much 😊 if we get to 1 million subs by the end of the year, I may be tempted to jump into the river Thames whilst wearing my chef whites
@@CookingwithChefDai screenshot and saved;)

I'm gonna try this later on, thanks chef😊
From an asian chef I'd expect a sharp knife. That's how you know a good chef
Excited to hear you’re going in a regular schedule, can’t wait to see more!
Thanks so much!!!! 🙏
I can’t wait to try this one, looks so delicious and cheap too!
Thanks so much. A great point you made. Yes, definitely won’t break the bank. 👍
Chef Dai is back with another banger. This looks really nice and quite simple to make - thanks for sharing the recipe :)

Thanks a lot Monique. My son absolutely loved eating it.
Love your videos!! Thank you so much for sharing! Stay safe :)
Thanks so much. You stay safe too 🤗
Lovely dish chef..
Thanks so much mate
Loving these uploads, Chef. I love the use of nori and the second you hit it with that mayonnaise you entered okonomiyaki territory; I guess you could say this is an inverted or folded okonomiyaki. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for the awesome feedback Wilfred!!!! I’m glad you like the recipe. Honestly, I came up with this recipe on the morning of the shoot. Originally I wasn’t going to use any rice, mayo or nori and was going to serve it with some salsa, the more traditional way along with the Japanese teriyaki chicken.
But I’m glad I used the rice, mayo and nori after after all.
I was so happy at the way it turned out. My son even said it was one of the dishes that I’ve ever made. Please try it. Take care of yourself and family brother......
I typically don't advocate mixing carb/startch products (with some excepts- like rice and potato in curry). But this sounds absolutely delicious and I want it.
Great recipe, very easy to follow and effective. You know, after spending so much time lately watching long-form cooking-blog style videos, can I say how great it is to have someone who gets on with the recipe and uses proper time-saving cuts without skipping steps? Great to have you back :P
Thanks so much for the awesome comment. I’m still trying to find and establish the true identity of this channel. I might start doing some fish filleting and knife skill videos again. I’m still not sure though.
I’m glad that you like these home cooked recipes!!! Thanks again 🙏
Please don't stop making this content for us!
We will do our best to keep going!!!! We are enjoying this journey and reading your comments motivate and inspire us to create more. Thanks 🙏
Wow, what a delicious twist on a stir fry.. going to make this for lunch tomorrow.. Thank you for the lesson Chef Dai, Thinking of you down here in sleepy Dorset.. Have a wonderful weekend with the family.. D&Pxx
Thanks so much brother. You always leave such positive comments. I watch all of your videos but don’t comment half as much, what kind of friend am I?!?!? I’ll put that right!!!!
I can’t wait to see you and penny again. I can already smell the salty Dorset coastal air. Love it....have a cracking weekend brother. Much love to you and Penny xxxx
We are grateful to receive
That stretchy, melty cheese! The gift that keeps on giving... even when you're trying to eat it on camera 😜
Great recipe! Thank you.
Thanks so much brother. Love me a decent cheese pull 🧀 . Take care mate.
I would love u to make your own version of Baked sushi 😊
Omgosh Chef! Every time I watch your videos I am mesmerized by the way you chop chop chop your ingredients, the way you describe the food, and especially when you eat your masterpiece! I then realize my mouth is gaped wide open with my eyes bulging out in awe and I just start laughing at myself, really loud, because of how funny I must look!!! BTW this is a major munchies video lol!
If you haven't watched Maangchi's channel yet, go check it out. Seeing her enjoy food and watching her mad knife skills brings me so much joy.
Wow!!! Thank you so much for the awesome comment. I’m glad you enjoy watching our videos. I kinda cringe when I edit the videos 😂
I need to relax more when I’m filming. I think I’m quite an extroverted person away from RUclips but I always seem to tense up when the cameras are rolling. I’m sure I’ll get used to it soon after a few more videos.
Thanks again for the support. Much love 😝
elizabluekitty I concur. She is an awesome creator 🥳
FYI you can just type some butter on the skillet and forgo adding oil to the tortillas. Also, lower heat will help you get that perfect extra crispy outer tortilla.
Sensei is back,
😭🔥🔥🔥
Great dish idea for using up leftovers, especially if you’re primary cuisine at home is Asian. I almost always have those ingredients in my refrigerator.
That’s a great shout. Thanks for watching
Hahaha!! This is hilarious! Rice inside a quesadilla?? Mayo??? It's like some people complain about putting pineapple to a pizza. Dude I'll have to make a bizarre Mexican sushi just to let you know how it feels!
Sainsbury's French Style Mayonnaise is a great sub for Kewpie.
Interesting, I will definitely check it out. Kewpie is always my go to mayo......thanks for the suggestion

New Mexican Cusine: *TERIYAKI QUESADILLA*
Those drums in your intro feels incomplete without the "YOOOOOOOOOOOOO" that comes after haha. Loving these new videos tho
Can u make more video of Japanese knife 🔪 fillet fish?
I will try. I prefer to do those in my restaurant as I have all of my knives there, large sink and chopping board. Hopefully the restaurant will be open again soon
"Start by chopping half a green onion into thin strips." Proceeds to cut a green bell pepper :D
I’ve literally watched this video over 20 times when editing and never picked up on that error 🤦♂️ 😂
Thanks for the heads up
So, (are you and I being unnecessarily particular) your version is only half accurate....I didn't see any mention of a "green onion".
Raymond leGrand 1:30 I said green onion. What a plonker
Haha, how did I miss that? Good eye (and ear)
You should make keto recipes
Not that the current intro is bad, but I miss the rolling egg intro.
😂 thanks mate. We filmed that intro such a long time ago
Mexican Japanese...MeXaNese
Chef Dai, I must say I've learned a lot from you over the years about cooking Japanese food but when you put mayonnaise on the quesadilla I lost a bit of the shimmer I have for you in my eyes.
I hear you brother but hear me out. 1) don’t knock it until you try it and 2) forget about any traditional quesadillas you may have had before, this is not supposed to mimic one in anyway. This is a completely unique dish that I came up with and I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how good it tastes.
Definitely more Japanese than Mexican and is Japanese, we love our mayonnaise!
Thanks for the feedback though
@@CookingwithChefDai Honestly, I knew your angle and I genuinely love the approach to the fusion cuisine. Japanese food is probably my favorite to both eat and cook at home. That said, my hate for mayo is something I have a hard time getting over. But if you say it's good, then I'll have to try it and maybe send you a response video!
WolfGaijin thanks for the awesome response. I appreciate your opinion and ALWAYS take on board positive criticisms. Hope you do make it and enjoy it!
@@wolfingitdown2047 I hate mayo as well but Japanese mayo is different and I actually find it less offensive. Also, homemade mayo is a real game changer. I made a tuna melt with homemade mayo and it was so good it changed my general aversion to mayonnaise. At least it's an ingredient that's easy to exclude on something like a quesadilla.
Cooking with Chef Dai anytime, Chef! Thank you for all of the insight into Japanese cooking. You’ve helped my channel tremendously.
