Just realized today that I never chose a comment, super sorry. I loaded all the comments and gave it a random scroll and landed on "Kenny Vloggins" comment and decided it was proper enough to claim the bag. If he doesn't send me his address within a week, I'll choose another comment. Thanks everyone! More product videos coming as soon as I find the time...
OMG this isn't so rad and what sick video it actaully explained a lot cheers from Oklahoma and if I win maybe I can come out to see you with the bag haha
I remember coming across an article with Taj back in the early 00's where he mentioned using a double guitar bag with the middle liner cut out to travel with his bike. I bought one from Fender for fairly cheep and tried it back in 2007 flying from Germany to Iowa and had no issues. I'll be coming home once again this august and my bike is hopefully coming with me too!
Used this bag and loved it. I found it best to put the front wheel on bottom under the front triangle and put the rear wheel on top of the front triangle of the frame with a cut bottle over the axle for protection. Zip tie or lock it too, I had mine opened do to someone taking a peep at some point and had clothes hanging out and all.
One time I was 1 pound over the limit, barely scraping by on time for flight, had to move over to the side and tear apart my bag like a mad man just to shave a pound off and get it reweighed. Dang airlines Mann. Great video! Also was awesome meeting you at the CK event at Linda Vista! 😁
First off let me say, this is awesome, please don't go away. I would love to see more of these, just raw and personal from the guys like you in the industry who really use these bags and whatever else you review. Its good to see that from just an average joes perspective. As for a traveling story, Its not so much a horror story but I worked in the Florida state prisons for 5 years and it fucking sucked. Fighting my way through most days, I had to do what I had to do for family. After 5 years I was able to get a job that had comparable pay, and less potential to die. This new gig I got is remote so I can work from anywhere. The first thing I did got to New York to see my family and meet my boss(as that's where the company is based out of). I didn't have a bike bag and was stressing the funds that I didn't have to buy one. Luckily my good buddy Chad Degroot, let me borrow his oddessy bike back (golf bag style) which has been to bagdad and all over and is pretty beat. I luckily got through TSA with no issue. However the issue for me is my wife working situation unfortunately is non existent at the moment and I haven't been able to buy a bag for myself even still. Im not begging, but I can tell you that I would love to be able to have my own bag and be able to travel and get some riding done outside that state of Florida when my company has meetings. I know I'm not a kid, but at 33, just trying to make it like everyone else, I would absolutely be floored if I was able to win. If not, it doesn't change anything, I still love you guys and will keep grinding till I can afford one. Please keep putting out stuff like this, as its super relatable too us normal guys out here. No fancy sets, or whatever, pour some coffee and tell us about these awesome things that Bmx brings. Peace! Jason
Well dude, it's yours. A random scroll landed me on your comment and you had me at "less potential to die." Can you email me your address? ryan@ourbmx.com
Any BMX content that is more than small street clips filmed on a VX death lens is appreciated these days, Ryan :D lol A suggestion I would like to see is a casual conversation, call it a podcast if you want, between you and Jeff Z on some of your favorite stories, some of your opinions on the future of BMX, the ups and the downs, your personal experiences in BMX as well as the idea of what BMX is today. And I know that straight 2 people podcasts can feel weird so any third would be great, particularly another person you have worked with for a long time. Also, just in general, anything that displays the nuances of personality that riders have is appreciated. Even Demarcus' how to manual video was just sprinkled with some of his humor and some of his 'philosophies' on riding if you will, and that's very important and I think sometimes lost on young riders these days who are getting used to seeing a "character" of a rider online. It's better to see who someone actually is, rather than who they want you to think they are.
I appreciate both suggestions. We have a ton that we’d love to do...just hard to find the time to put it all together. We’ll be doing our best, though! Thanks for the love and the suggestions!!
i've made my own "bike bag" and added inline skate wheels with lights in it as a decoy. i load it on the counter with the wheels first and it always makes the person at the counter smile. It's the best way to avoid curios questions as they don't see any dangerous thing that way. i'm from outside the usa, so pick someone else...
I flew out to Barcelona a few years ago with my bike packed into a golf bag from CostCo. The bag and bike made to Barcelona fine, but got super ripped up on the flight back to the UK. I only got one use out of that bag as it was way too damaged to use again. I will need t find a better solution for the next trip.
Love my OGIO golf bag and probably wouldn't change it. One time I took my stem apart after seeing Brad Simms do it while packing his bike, and then my stem was loose for close on a year & I had to eventually replace it. My bike is just too much of a hooptie to take the stem and forks apart all the time. That being said, you have a good point about foreign airlines, as the one time I didn't travel to America I was charged something ridiculous like $120 each way by Air Maroc because of my oversized bag. So I can see the appeal if you aren't always flying Canada -> America and back.
Flying from Edinburgh to Utah via Amsterdam. Flight from Edinburgh was delayed meaning missed connecting flight in Amsterdam. Ended up with 2 more nights in Amsterdam due to weather which meant three days less in USA overall. Also they made us fly to Minnesota before Utah as there were no direct flights that day. Another flight added. After all that no compensation was given and we ended up in worse seats than we paid extra for too. Nightmare.
You better go away and get a big comfy chair to stay and chat longer! This is a super awesome articulate review video with a great chill vibe! My only horror story was when my flight was delayed for 6 hours from a heavy storm. They didn't want to cancel it to not cause a riot since another fully booked plane was going the exact same flight path but wasn't delayed. When I finally made it to Atlanta, I missed my connecting flight as expected, and then made it back home at 4am after needing to drive 2 hrs from the airport.
My airline story is not particularly bad but what I will say, since my DK Golf bag now has only one wheel, three wheels sounds pretty good. Also, more about that green beast in your garage, please!
I wanted to be an extra hard core skater/rider early on in high school and bough a belt with fake/plastic bullets on it that I loved. I wore it through airport security one day without thinking. Airport security confiscated it and my parent were just laughing after it was all said and done. Luckily nothing else worse came of it, but I lost my favorite belt!
Shame i'm in UK.. Great review though guys.. Haha Ryan, we see you dislike being in front of the camera but you are actually really good. Straight shooting and open, just how things should be. Great work as usual keep it up, you guys rule.. Long live "Our Bmx".
catchers gear bag with my bike in it got stuck in new jersey for 2 weeks after my Italy trip. I thought she was long gone but it make it back to the ATX.
Planning to buy one traveler bag for my way back home, Myanmar from US. Just worry about airline or custom will still charge extra fees for my bike or not.
Just a history. I loved the monogram bag, I've done several travels in and out of the country without issues, until I had to take a early morning flight. I had to wait until the security check office for oversize luggage was in service, they opened way later than expected, and almost lost the flight, because the line for TSA got insanely crowded in ATL . Just got the traveler bag, and it is definitively more easier to transit in the airports with it. So I will be using it from now on. I will keep the monogram for long road trips though.
Also kidnapping a plane to crash it into buildings might be edgy, but what prevents a terrorist from tossing a grenade or use an assault rifle when You're waiting in the TSA line? In other words ... Fuck TSA, You guys don't provide security and waste money from taxpayers.
i took a domestic flight with a normal suitcase with my bike in it. Terrible idea. Had the worst time trying to fit my bike in there including multiple redos. Worst part of it all, was that is was very obvious that is wasn't just clothes so they charged me for a bike. I haven't travelled on a plane with my bike again because of that experience, need to get my hands on one of these odyssey ones!
Was in Dallas for a quick layover. Ended up stuck for several more hours because they lost the pilot and had to find another one. I remember standing in line waiting to board when they made the announcement thinking how the hell do you lose the pilot?
Thankfully I haven't had a bike flight nightmare this year (shout-out ratty Matty / Parker for the rental lol) 2016: flying out of Vegas for NYE (which is a nightmare airport in itself) back to SFO (also a nightmare airport) my flight was delayed FOR A DAY. I had drove there (Vegas) with some friends and planned to drive back but a family emergency happened.. Long story short, had to fly back on a very small plane that I'm sure was built in the 70s by Ray Charles and Hellen Keller.. I was not allowed any oversized baggage... The night before my flight, I had to make do with what I had. Literally saran wrap and duct tape... I tore my entire bike down and made what looked like something that would be smuggled across the Mexican border.. a mutual "friend" said they were driving back in a couple days and would bring my bike to me (home in Santa Cruz)... Turns out that person was a meth user ;/ luckily it's a small town and I found their information (address). Two weeks after my nightmare flight situation I was reunited with my bike (which thankfully wasn't mistaken for drugs by the tweekers) lol. Hopefully I will win this bike bag so this *or something worse* won't happen again! Haha
Flew out to Colorado from MCI (Kansas City) to COS (Colorado Springs) with the Dk golf bag and had no problems. Stayed in Colorado for 2 awesome weeks then went to fly back and I apparently got red flagged (whatever that means) got pulled into a room by TSA and they began to accuse me of trying to smuggle marijuana back to KCMO 😂 they told me “we’re gonna search your bags and if we find anything you’re gonna be in a lot of trouble, but if you tell us now what’s in there we can help you” I said “fuckin search my bags! I’m gonna miss my flight!” They searched and of course didn’t find a damn thing besides my bmx. They started saying shit like “you’re gonna have to pay extra for that” “ I heard it’s a $500 fine from the airline if you get caught with a bike” trying to freak me out. Of course it didn’t because I’ve been flying for years with my bike and have never paid a fee ( thank you sweet little baby Jesus 😂) any way American Airlines had just recently removed the oversized bag fees and you should’ve seen the faces on those TSA agents when the check lady told em that. I just made my gate with minutes to spare and made it home with my bmx and a good story!
One time I had to completely make up a story about my “golfing career” just to bring my golf bag on the flight. The lady questioning me just so happened to have a daughter that played golf for her school team which made it a lot harder for me since she knew what she was talking about
I tear my bike COMPLETELY apart and cram it into a 16" complete box and duct tape it shut. That gets it under the 62" size limit of the airline but the TSA cuts it open and inspects it every time. One time they didn't throw my headset and other small accessory bag that also had my tools to rebuild my bike back in. That was a fun surprise when I got to Santa Cruz. I think it's time to upgrade from the cardboard box. 🤔
I don't like to fly that much so I always take Dramamine so I can pass out and wake up at my destination like B.A. Baracus from the A-Team! Any way I was on my connecting flight and I was pretty loopy from the 'mine (that's what I like to call Dramamine) and it was about 10 at night in St' Louis. We are on the runway and ready to take off.... the engines rev up and just as the nose comes up a BIG FIREBALL and LOUD BANGS starting coming from the engine (right next to my window) everyone starts screaming... Not me though I was barely coherent due to the 'mine and I remember leaning away from the window and because I didn't have any other people next to me, I could kind of lie down.. I covered my head and waited to see what was going to happen. We skidded to a stop at the end of the runway. Then we started to taxi back to the gate. We got to the gate and they shut everything down. I see a mechanic crawl into the engine. He comes out with a big plastic tarp. Apparently it was on the runway and it got sucked into the engine. The banging and fireball were basically backfires.. Anyway we had to wait for an hour and half for them to bring us another plane. I am pretty sure they just took our old plane and drove it around the block then told us it was a different plane. That was my worst airplane experience.
I have only flown a couple of times but one of the times i was young and i was landing in Chicago and we came in and landed like in a really far back manual and the front end slammed down and i almost hit my face on the seat in front of me thought i was gunna die
I travel a lot with my bike. I always use a hockey bag, that also fits my skateboard. I was in the middle of Germany and put my bike inside the first class train car. The bike was built, and I had The hockey bag with all my stuff. Dude showed up and yelled like crazy at me, told me there was a dedicated spot for the bike and that I had to exit the next station. Long story short I ended up stressing on how to get back on the train with a bike until I remembered I could just take it apart and put it back in the bag...
You should take out the air because you don't want your tires exploding in the plane due to pressure changes. I've been travelling (still travelling now) with the Odyssey Monogram.. Pros👍: >Bike fits with the backwheel intact, which means less work building the bike as noted in the video >HUGE volume which means you can put more stuff inside (I have 2 pairs of shoes, extra socks, hoodie, bike air pump, u-lock, travel tool, like 4 extra Kenda tubes, and my WAHL hair clipper lol, if you do end up buying more stuff in your travels you have even more space, shit I think you can fit another frame or two 😅) >has wheels which roll very smooth everywhere Cons👎: >BIG, I've been asked twice what do I have inside (going to Japan, next going to Hong Kong) in which I reply "Baseball" then all is good :) (if travelling to a country where baseball is not even popular in, say you have a guitar or some other long musical instrument) >Usually you have to take the bag to the over-size department which is an extra step (if you're late to your flight take this into consideration) >when you land and have to pick up your bags at the "baggage carousel", the bag is SOMETIMES left right next to the carousel, but sometimes its not, thats when you have to search or ask around for oversized bags >Might or might not be charged an oversize fee, I've been to 4 countries so far and have not been charged. >fitting the bag inside some small taxi's can be annoying but should always fit >everyone thinks you're a musician (pro? 🤔🎸)
Our BMX cheers! Honestly I would rather travel with the Traveler bag even if it means sacrificing some space, it does get annoying carrying a huge bag around.. also it's not going to be fun the one day they do check what I have inside😅
Flying from Tampa Florida to Pittsburgh PA every time I would try to take a drink the plane would turbulence and drop. Only when I would try to take a drink. It was the craziest thing ever, needless to say during landing I never touched the drink and we landed smoothly. 🤪
I've had that happen, but usually in foreign countries for some reason. Generally, I believe the people scanning bags don't know/care whether you've already been charged for it being a bike.
Once they lost are bikes for the hole trip and we didn’t even get them back till we got back home but I need this bag me and my brother just go to Walmart get some boxes and build custom cardboard boxes that fit are bike and are within the airlines rules
Long Story Short: I was doubting and deciding to bring my bike with me to Cancun,Mexico and head over S.D airport . I was using the DK golf bag, packing was pretty crappy according it was last min decision. Added clothes over it to make it legit as well. 40 mins in the airport, I was getting questioned by two workers what’s in the bag first guy I said clothes and Xbox and second guy I’ve said gifts for family. I already know I’m in some deep sh*t. Thankfully some other came in asked same question and just to tell the truth and didn’t get charged for it just costed me a delayed flight. Who knows what would it happened if I was honest or lied again
My first trip with my bike to Denver from St. Louis I had a 9 hour delay because a lady on the plane at a stop before it got to stl decided to start a fight and then refused to get off the plane so she was escorted off by police later that night after I finally got to Denver I was scrolling through Facebook and came across the story and found out that that’s what caused the delay since frontier wouldn’t tell us anything.
first time i ever traveled alone with my bike I did use a goallie bag for my bike and a huge camping back pack for my clothes , both needed to be in checked one extra fee for one bag. My clothes ,my shoes and my riding gear got soaking wet from a storm in MIA took two days to dry in Bogota. Now I use a duffle bag for my clothes and whats packed with the bike is all sealed in other bags .My bauer Goalie bag insnt the slickest but its cheap and sturdy. Im from Montreal ill pay for the shipping .hahahaa
I travelled domestic from Perth to Melbourne, paid for a bike box and what not, my mistake but I went through the X-rays and had all my tool confiscated cause I had them in carry on. Got to Melbourne and couldn’t put my bike together literally ruined my entire trip and cost me a fortune to replace all my bike Tools
I’ve never been on a plane before but I would love to be able to travel with my bike for the first time with no problems, fees, or hassle. Shoutout odyssey bmx their team riders and parts are🔥🔥🔥
I have not traveled with my bmx yet(I plan to in the coming months), but they will hassle you for having a bike In a bag? And that's why people take golf bags, to disguise that a bike is in there instead of golf clubs?
I took a trip in Rio de Janeiro with my family, I'm from Brazil but I'm moving to the US, and when we went to get our bags someone stole our bags and then we got no clothes during the whole trip, and when we were coming back to our city, our bags were recovered
Dudde. I really need one of these in my life. I litterally have to lie every single time airline ask me whats inside the bag. Worst story that i got with my bike bag was when i went to malaysia. I got this bike bag that really sketchy. No strap, no pads, no wheels and not even hard plastic. So i have to take off the bar, fork and frame just like you in this video. But remember my bag dont have strap that come wirh the bag. So i have to strap everything together and its not connected to the bag at all. This bag look really big too. Boxy looking bag with fabric material and rubber or fake leather inside. Of course the airline ask me whats inside the bag. So i got charged bcs of the bike for 55 USD just from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur. 55 usd might be not much, but i went to malaysia with really thight budged. That was rough. But the worst part was, i broke my wrist while competing in malaysia and had to deal with the same thing all the way back home. I can only use one hand bcs my left hand was casted and have to carry the bike bag without wheels. Still cant believe if i have to deal with my bike bag again
My airline story was actually this past Wednesday. Was trying to fly from New Jersey to Munich Germany, the first plane had a mechanical, 3 hours later they got a second plane which also had mechanical issues, then another 3 hours later they fixed the second plane the crew had timed out so i had to find a hotel at 4am. The next day i board my plane at 5pm and then we get word that there is something wrong with the plane, after an hour of sitting on the plane they decide we need another plane, 4 hours later United finally gets us a new plane and they say we will take off as soon as we get some paperwork from the hanger. After an hour they brought the wrong paperwork and had to wait another hour for the right paperwork. And that is my story of 2 whole days at the airport 😂
Better shift from Golfer 😂,im always ended with my bike in garage,or borowing unfit sized bike. but if i had this monogram bag nothings can stop me from riding. Kip it up bro.
Buenas noches me gustaria conocer mas diseños para poder tener mas conocimiento. Gracias por su explicacion Hermilso Quilindo Figueroa. Desde POPAYAN. CAUCA.COLOMBIA
Bold statement..Have you had all of them? I’ve honestly never had a DK bag somehow, but doing a direct comparison between the Traveler Bag and any golf bags is apples to oranges. I prefer the Traveler Bag style now...
It’s honestly similar to the ogio bag in size, don’t have to take your bike 100% apart, it’s going under the plane anyways. And if you don’t want to pay you tell them it’s golf equipment and the size of the golf bag was more convincing to them to carry golf stuff. It had wheels and thick enough material to not feel the bike through it. It is all preference though everything is lol
Yup, I get that and said the same thing regarding the golf bags in the video...did you watch it? Haha. The golf bags have their downsides, though, so that’s where Traveler Bag fits in perfectly.
I was goiing on a trip with my parents to Switzerland an there was like an stop in Belgium but there was two days ago a bomb atack we didn't now so we went instead to france en we were like yes now we are in Belgium en there a guy en he sad excuse me you are in france so we were likt wtf but yeah we had a nice vacation after all
I got detained for ~26 hour's going to visit my ex fiance in the UK. We had 6 weeks planned out of shit to do but they thought I was trying to illegally immigrate to the there. Got sent back next day.

We're giving away one of these Traveler Bags, so make sure you watch the full video to find out how to enter.
Moved from Alaska to Idaho, the airline messed up and put my bike on the wrong plane, never saw it again, thanks Alaska Airlines

I can do that. Maybe a photo bag check with Z and a video bag check with me?

Was in Dallas for a quick layover. Ended up stuck for several more hours because they lost the pilot and had to find another one. I remember standing in line waiting to board when they made the announcement thinking how the hell do you lose the pilot?
Thankfully I haven't had a bike flight nightmare this year (shout-out ratty Matty / Parker for the rental lol)
2016: flying out of Vegas for NYE (which is a nightmare airport in itself) back to SFO (also a nightmare airport) my flight was delayed FOR A DAY.
The lady questioning me just so happened to have a daughter that played golf for her school team which made it a lot harder for me since she knew what she was talking about
I don't get why you can't just say that there is a bike inside, what am I missing ?
That was my worst airplane experience.
no real bad airline stories only went on a couple trips, trying to get away more and having a proper bike bag would help a lot!
Pros👍:
>Bike fits with the backwheel intact, which means less work building the bike as noted in the video
>HUGE volume which means you can put more stuff inside (I have 2 pairs of shoes, extra socks, hoodie, bike air pump, u-lock, travel tool, like 4 extra Kenda tubes, and my WAHL hair clipper lol, if you do end up buying more stuff in your travels you have even more space, shit I think you can fit another frame or two 😅)
>has wheels which roll very smooth everywhere
Cons👎:
>BIG, I've been asked twice what do I have inside (going to Japan, next going to Hong Kong) in which I reply "Baseball" then all is good :) (if travelling to a country where baseball is not even popular in, say you have a guitar or some other long musical instrument)
>Usually you have to take the bag to the over-size department which is an extra step (if you're late to your flight take this into consideration)
>when you land and have to pick up your bags at the "baggage carousel", the bag is SOMETIMES left right next to the carousel, but sometimes its not, thats when you have to search or ask around for oversized bags
>Might or might not be charged an oversize fee, I've been to 4 countries so far and have not been charged.
>fitting the bag inside some small taxi's can be annoying but should always fit
>everyone thinks you're a musician (pro? 🤔🎸)
I've flown hundreds of times without taking the air out of my tires, but fully agree with everything else!
I always assumed bags got scanned after they are weighed and that they would notice it???
Could a road bike (only frameset) - xs size, fits in?
The actual golf bags just don't cut it.. would love to have a bag like that! Do a bike tool review can never make up my mind on one too get.
I travelled domestic from Perth to Melbourne, paid for a bike box and what not, my mistake but I went through the X-rays and had all my tool confiscated cause I had them in carry on. Got to Melbourne and couldn’t put my bike together literally ruined my entire trip and cost me a fortune to replace all my bike
Tools
Nice Datsun! 240z that is?
Never flew with my bike yet, but next summer I'm going to Australia.
So what were the airline charges of the traveler bag vs. the golf bag?
Normal bag charges for the traveler bag. The golf bag opens you up to getting charged for your bike.
@@OurBMX why would they suspect there's a bmx in a monogram bag when its slightly taller then the traveler bag?
I’ve never been on a plane before but I would love to be able to travel with my bike for the first time with no problems, fees, or hassle. Shoutout odyssey bmx their team riders and parts are🔥🔥🔥
I know it’s late now, but it’s better to take the air out of your tires cause your tires might pop from the pressure in the sky
I've been on a several hundred flights without letting the pressue out and haven't had an issue. But maybe I just don't run that much pressure.
Our BMX ah ok, makes sense
I have not traveled with my bmx yet(I plan to in the coming months), but they will hassle you for having a bike In a bag? And that's why people take golf bags, to disguise that a bike is in there instead of golf clubs?
Basically, yes. Some airlines are more lenient than others
@@OurBMX what a bunch if racists! Haha
Can you fit 24 inch bmx wheels in it ?
I think you’d struggle to get it sealed up. Same goes for any of the golf bags, too.
A 21” frame fit there ?
Yup
This would be sweeeeet for the airport part of traveling! 🤙🤙
You should try the wethepeople flight bag next
I’m sure we’ll get one soonish. Then we’ll just have to wait for the world to reopen.
There was one time where opened my bag after a flight and it was missing a few things...
Buenas noches me gustaria conocer mas diseños para poder tener mas conocimiento.
Gracias por su explicacion

Very informative, looking forward to more reveiws.
great review. enjoyed watching it. buying a bag.
Bag looks great and would love to have one. Good review as well. Please pick me‼️🙏
Get a job you broke boy
DK golf bag is the best one
I like the look more of the traveler bag and I’m guessing it’s probably better price
Yup, I get that and said the same thing regarding the golf bags in the video...did you watch it? Haha. The golf bags have their downsides, though, so that’s where Traveler Bag fits in perfectly.
@@sryfodaweight was it the ogio max rig 9800?
Why would you lie? Is it illegal to fly with bikes?
Really digged the video
I was goiing on a trip with my parents to Switzerland an there was like an stop in Belgium but there was two days ago a bomb atack we didn't now so we went instead to france en we were like yes now we are in Belgium en there a guy en he sad excuse me you are in france so we were likt wtf but yeah we had a nice vacation after all
Monogram bag u don't have to take rear tyre off! Traveler u must....
thats great, thank you!
This bag like so good
My story with Jett blue I pay 150$to bring my bike to Dominican Republic and my bike got stolen. In the airplane and never got my money back
as a 45 year old. watching him

I got detained for ~26 hour's going to visit my ex fiance in the UK. We had 6 weeks planned out of shit to do but they thought I was trying to illegally immigrate to the there. Got sent back next day.
It was my first flying experience too lol.

I Need this bag for my new Bike! I Hope i will win this bag!🙏
The zipper is only single stitched and busted out the first time I stuffed it full. Two thumbs down
