Joined the National Guard for Health care. Went from 700+ for medical and dental to 300 dollars, medical & dental, a month for 6(2 adults, 4 kids). Worth the weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer time.
19 expecting my first kid in February this will be a blessing
2 weeks in the summer?
What no way I never get a 2 day drill or a 2 week AT lol
@@specialistj3934 what do you usually get. I’ve seen this multiple times saying that it’s more then a weekend and 2 weeks
Better listen all you spring chickens. I currently pay 6k a year in health insurance premiums at my job, plus out of pocket health care costs such as co pays deductibles etc. the military is much much cheaper. And that 6k a year is only for a married couple plan, if I had children it would be 8k a year.
Good point, glad you had a chance to provide this info to those that haven't learned it yet.
Fun fact: You haven’t seen the full video
Yes I have
@@colef.1751 It was a week ago when the video was 50 seconds old
@@mxttu187This comment didn't age well.
This is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much, sir! I was really confused about the difference between Reserves and civilian health insurance and this really helped! So true that many younger enlisted Reservists do not understand or care about things like this, me being one of them until recently.
3 years ago I was watching your videos on joining the army. Now I'm watching your videos on joining the reserves as a active duty soldier. And the benefits of the reserves. Just wanted to say thank you for helping me out through out the years :).
its so helpful, thank you so much. Sir Ward
Congratulations on your son! Wonderful experience.
Just had a child and with the tricare reserve plan, it came out to the exact $62 leftover just as Matt said. This truly is a great video to explain for those who don’t know.
I really appreciate the information that you put out. I’m inquiring information about the Navy reserve at the moment and you have answered a lot of questions. I know you’re in the army and pay for my understanding are pretty similar in all the branches.
Thank you for this!!
Great video super informative
Leaving for basic in 9 days thanks for all the info buddy
Even if you are young and may not need to see the doctor as often you want to invest in healthcare. It may seem like a waste of money now but when something happens, you'll want to have it. Its one of the first few things they'll ask you when you go into a clinic or hospital. Im young myself and have literally had Tricare because of my father and now my husand. If you can get it, please enroll yourself and any other family members you may have.
Going to Fort Benning in November!! Wish me luck!
Hell yeah I'll be in September
Does the army allow you to attend BCT if you have corona virus
@@remmendoza4715 if you have it and you know you have it no but if you don't know and find out later they might make yourself quarantine.
Gl. That 22 weeks sucked ball
Good luck!!
Lol before I left to basic , I would watch your videos thank you they helped 💕
Holy crap! That's amazing- definitely good to know...
Good video, couldn’t agree more.
And FYI your 1st Sustainment Command patch is jumbled - it should be pointing at 10pm
This is a great benefit for many Reserve and Guard members. However, I note that Reserve and Guard members who are also Federal civilian employees are not permitted to use Tricare Reserve Select for their medical care. A Reserve or Guard member who is a Federal civilian employee is required to use the Federal civilian employee health care program, which is known as the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) program. Unfortunately FEHB is more costly than TRICARE. Recent legislation will change this, and will extend TRICARE eligibility to Reserve and Guard members who are Federal civilians, but it won't be effective until 2030. I will add that at this time Reserve or Guard members who are Federal civilians can only use TRICARE Dental.
Free insurance at my work but it barely covers anything (yearly vaccines) with $6500 deductible and adding on my family would cost $200 a week. Paying $350 a month for my wife and my son is way better but still so expensive. I am definitely thinking of join the military to help me change career and build a future for my family. Thank you for the information.
Happy Tuesday Matt!
Great video!
you sir have just earned my subscription.
There are some other benefit often overlooked.
1. You get a Security Clearance. It's really great if you want to get into contracting with the U.S. Govt.
2. There are Army Reserves units in Asia, and Europe, so you can work overseas and train overseas. I live in S. Korea and the USAR is a great benefit here.
Helpful asf!!!
Thanks for the video, I’m shipping out in September and was wondering about how tri care works.
Can you please make a video on bct honor graduate?
Thank you!!
WOW, that's a lot better then when I was in. I had to wait to retire to get Tri-care . Active, Natl Gd, Resv
Need more vids like this
Shipping to Fort Leonard Wood Sep 15! 🤞🏽 thanks for your videos!
I ship in 6 days! Healthcare is a big reason I joined...
What’s your mos? And where you going?
Just came back from training and had a blast. Met some amazing people ( and assholes) went to my unit and it’s another world. Even better. Just enjoy , learn and give your all in pt . It will change your mindset and body
E T 31 bravo (mp) Fort Leonard Wood
GREAT VIDEO BRO!!! Thank you!! I just commissioned in the Reserves. 😭😭😭🇺🇸
Holy cow. I’m leaving Monday to become a reservist and this made me even more excited. Just told my girlfriend she has to have kids while in in the army Hahahaha
Great video
When I got out of active duty, my fiancée at the time was paying around $662/month for her medical insurance. Before we even got married, she absolutely pressured me to get into the reserves. After getting married, the first thing I had to do was get her into my tricare reserve plan. She cried like a baby when she found out the cost of our family plan would be a fraction of her old individual plan. I made rank about a year ago, so my deductible increased, but her former individual plan is still almost twice as expensive than what we're paying now for the whole family. We're trying for 2 more kids, and I find it crazy that my fees won't be going up any more than what it is now. It'll be a sad day when I finally have to get off of tricare reserve select.
Edit: typo somewhere.
Brand New Daddy talk!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Im pretty sure I've talked with you in cherokee earlier this year. Remember Mr . Martin ?
Tricare also offers really good mental health coverage.
So does the VA
Currently active. I’m considering the reserves/national guard for afterwards.
Same I’m active duty right now and want to go reserves.
Don’t do it
Yes I love this benefit also! But not gonna make me reup I got what I wanted from the army reserves. Half way done and then I’m outtie
Amen to that brother I’m done once my contract is over
People don't think that one can easily get killed on deployment chasing those attractive benefits like cheap PX steaks and booze and healthcare. One misplaced IED and there goes your health. Something to consider when you play this game.
@@comm2531 not every army job will put you in that situation
Thank you for this info! Is there a certain amount to serve in order to get lifetime insurance coverage?
Can you make new videos about the benefits if they change ?
Damn, when he said health care...
I was expecting him to mention Active Guard Reserves
I agree AGR best kept secret
Matt, are there any instances during basic training where a drill sergeant is not shouting at you and can have a casual conversation?
I just graduated Agust 21 in my experiences it depends on the drill Sargents I had nice and chill drill Sargents and had a couple that loved to yell.
August 25 shipping to Fort Benning
Yariel Cruz good luck bro
Alex Pennie thanks broo
Shipping August 24 for Fort Benning too good luck
First? Love the vids. Shipping in Sept for BCT!
A Aron same
@@user-wo1cq8ri9r You headed to Ft Jackson?
Same. Just got back a little while ago how was it
Can you make a video about being on hrt while in the military? I seen on Google tricare covers it but all articles refer to gender dysmorphia vs just taking it for overall well being in your older years. Thanks in advance
U got my civil affairs unit on ur wall 425
As an active duty soldier who is used to free Healthcare the thought of paying hundreds of dollars a month for Healthcare sounds terrible.
This, currently transferring over to reserves lol
@@thatoneguy1741 Ended up just ETS'ing and now I have free Healthcare with the VA anyway lol
Aside having tricare, I keep hearing people saving that it sucks.
Is it worth it?
Hi, is housing covered? Healthcare is supported but whats about housing/quarter? Is housing always out of pocket/ housing assistance/ home owner loan ?
Thank you very much
How easy is it for you to find providers in your area with tricare ??
My dad paid like $20 to have me born 🤣 good ol labor Union Insurance!685 but I'm thinking about doing this !
Matt can you get loan repayment and GI Bill or is it one or the other?
Hey matt what are u in the National Gaurd
’m 20, single, and I’m about to join. Any advices for the reserve?, like how to save money, how to get bonuses, stuff like that. (2023)
This is one of the main reasons I joined.
What’s the pay like? I have a great paying job but making extra money wouldn’t be a bad thing
What does delta dental look like brother? Thanks
What about home VA loans?
I leave next month for basic... After my 4 years, can I re-enlist into the reserves? Then go to college while enlisted?
Yes
Anyone here August 24th to benning?
Juggernough
Does anyone know how does tricare reserve select work for a family of 2?
Do you recommend ROTC as a path to officership?
Yes that’s what I did 👍🏻
Can I put my little brother on the NG healthcare plan? I'm in the process of being his legal guardian. Would really help out in life
@Luimi y Shira cool, thank you
can other family members join?
I have a question if anybody who's been in the reserves or NG could answer it I'd really appreciate it. I want to join the reserves in the summer after I finish my first year of college. Will AIT interfere with the start of my second year in college (which starts in August) if it extends past the starting date of my second year?
Join as a split op
Are you still in the army?
Ive never been this early
i leave for shipping tommorow...god help me
how are things?
When are you are eligible to the va loan in the army reserve
After 6 years I think
Well hellooooo wonderful people in the comments
My civi job healthcare covers 80% in network and 75% out network :D and only pay $64 per month (not in military yet) and birth cost for my son was $0.00 didn't have to pay anything 😉
Do u still get army benefits if u leave after 4 years?
No
A promotion?
Does tricare cover physical therapist?
No, I looked into that myself. And neither does Active duty except for certain circumstances. So that’s a bummer haha
Why wouldn't tri care cover PT’s as long as your in you get it right? And are you talking PT or 68F?
@@tesalou430 the service not the occupation lol
FYI. If you are a fed gov employee and in the reserves, you can’t use Reserve Select. It is against the law.
Really? How?
Some double dipping conflict of government interest
Matt Ward what states have the best National Guard benefits??!!
Doesn’t really matter since you 99% of the time have to live in the state you are in the NaT Guard for. So unless you want to move to the state that has slightly better funding for some benefit then you’re just stuck with the state you are in
I’m looking to relocate and would like to maximize the benefits and upon doing my research I trying to learn about each state’s benefit packages. Currently, I’m in NY and currently making comparisons.
@@isidorebranham5327 you'd probably have to contact a recruiter wherever you're considering moving. Every state puts a different emphasis on their NG, and so compensation and benefits are almost completely different across the board
A Aron thanks for your input. It’s Florida.
@Angie Ball Thank You so much!!!
RUclips have me the notification for this video 2 days late. Very upsetting.
Wow...
Wtf $62 to have a baby?!?!?! Na na na this can't be right 🤣🤣🤣 seriously ?!?
Meanwhile in Canada...
How can I get a green card. In the usa If I live in south africa.
South Africa is cool
I’m 16 and I’m going tmr to see if I can join the army full time because it says primary reserves but I don’t know what that means and it’s very confusing how would I go to basic training if I’m doing part time. I’m Canada btw but also would appreciate it if anyone could answer would mean a lot thanks.
Can you get a midwife and a home birth covered with their healthcare?
Just tell me already…. More than a minute to say what it is!
you gotta pay for a having a baby? tf not here. god bless Netherlands where hospitals are free.
Annual taxable income (gross)
€ 0 to 20.384 - 36,65% tax
€ 20.385 to 34.300 - 38,10% tax
€ 34.301 to 68.507 - 38,10% tax
€ 68.508+ - 51,75% tax
Hospital is *definitely* not free here. Personally, I would rather pay insurance and use what service I need rather than pay high tax for a service. Tax rate in Netherlands discourages earning more, I think. While I’m in the United States, I notice people keep more of their income and decide how to spend and make investments. It is easier to make investments in health care in the USA than it is here. I’m not trying to start a problem, but just letting you know that you are paying for hospital no matter what.
Edit* also just checked out your channel! Great stuff, super cool! Keep it up!
@Centurion 0mega it certainly is more expensive. And you also need to factor in the cost of paying for those that are not paying taxes, like recent immigrants, children, and the elderly.
17000 - seventeen-thousand dollars for medical bills for having a baby? Are you quite sure?
Hi Matt, sorry. I think someone used your picture to do scamming.
