5:37 Jill actually used the badge to escape when she got handcuffed to a pipe by Dr Murphy. Not only that, but the reason she took it was because the sheriff who wore that badge was the one who saved Matilda (her daughter) from drowning at the start of the film. It says "Sheriff Cameron" on the badge, and if you look at his name tag when he was on camera, it says "S. Cameron".
The film was okay My main complaint was that I worked out very early on that she could sleep because she had died and was resuscitated and if I could work it out then how could a team of scientists not work it out, you would think they'd at least text it, all they'd need to do is ask the girl and old lady what happened to them when the power stopped and they would both say "I died and was recussitated" but no, we won't ask, we'll just take blood non stop lol.
I agree. But from our pov we were able to see she was resuscitated but the doctors didn’t know that. & also the older lady was barely hanging on and seemed to be sedated for most of the time. And the little girl wasn’t there long enough for them to ask tons of questions and the staff was so sleep deprived that they weren’t thinking clearly enough to ask hardly anything. The concept is actually really good I just wish they made it a show instead of a movie so that it could go further. With the right team, this would have been a hit series for sure, I love genres like this so I definitely would have tuned in. However Gina's acting was amazing 👏🏾
I can agree with this. A miniseries, or something. Also, do away with the concept of "absolutely no sleep, not even chemically enduced." That makes no sense, because even if the brain loses the ability to tell the body to sleep, the body doesn't lose the ability to sleep, and even if the brain loses the ability to shut off the conscious part of the brain, there are still chemicals that will allow for this to happen. You'd have to change human beings on a genetic, physical level to induce this, and that's just, not possible from some "solar flare." That way you still have the rush to find the cure. A rush to figure out how to reset the brain, and make it tell the body to go to sleep, and shut off the consciousness, to allow for the subconscious to do its thing, without this rushed and hurried nonsense. You could also deal with dependency issues, as those chemicals often fool the brain into thinking it needs it to function properly.
@@Thoron_of_Neto the body will go into a paralysis type state at that point which is hinted at by the movie so the lack of sleep will get so sever that you completely shutdown and can’t function then boom dead but this definitely should have been a series so something so crucial to the plot wouldnt be glazed over in a throw away line like that
@@calebgilstrap5092 no, not really. It's so disjointed, and poorly explained. Is the genre "crappy movies that don't develop character, nor have a convincing and engaging plot?" Some parts of it, were interesting on the surface, and that's what this movie feels like. A movie wherein the writers and producers Google "sleep deprivation symptoms" and took the first hit on Google, decided to arbitrarily halve the time, and then throw down a contrived nonsense of a way to begin the sleep deprivation.
It wasn’t jump starting that made cars work, it was pre 1988 cars that didn’t have an installed battery that worked. Great idea for a movie, poor execution.
I kept wondering how they kept surviving without eating, no refregirators, no groceries, no food, how did they all kept running without food? How many days had passed before the ending?
The idea was good. Just seemed a little rushed. Would’ve been a great mini series to develop the plot over a longer time and not in such a short time period as said in the video
I loved the concept of the movie a lot. I’m into those dystopian style movies but I felt like it should have been a series and have more time to build the story. I felt like the movie was so rushed. I actually fell asleep a little bit during the movie as well but then woke up and saw the mom handcuffed to some metal pole at the hub and I still felt like I didn’t miss much either way lol.
The problem is that the movie tried to be realistic because they actually need it for the movie to be relatable and people go get interested. That conflict was one of the reaaons the writing went downhill for this movis
I could smell how bad this movie was from the screen, smelled like desperation. Think Story deserves an award and free therapy for making it through it.
@@Donotatmeho no I agree, great unique concept. Just terrible execution, I made the effort to watch it. One of those movies I'll forget about in a few days.
Netflix openly promotes content that sexualizes children much like disney. That scene you mentioned had nothing to do with anything. Furthered the plot in no way
The movie was good in my opinion and it had foreshadowing like at the beginning the pastor talking about coming back from the dead. Another thing does anyone know why the pastor couldn’t sleep if he claimed to have died and came back alive before???
Truth. I was waiting for him also to make a big scene in the movie but they didn’t show him again after the purge in the church. The movie had alot of holes but it ain’t that bad but could be better.
@@ikhwanulislah220 whacked., that's how the movie played it, but that makes no sense. How would dying before, or really after the solar flare change the brain? Basically, if it happened at one point, then it should be good permanently, otherwise, that means it affected their brains in a very specific way *after* the event, so how was that scenario able to be redone by both electrocution, and drowning? Dying and being resuscitated isn't a copy paste thing, it affects every brain minutely differently, so, if it worked once, and then again, and assumedly again at the end, then those who have died and been resuscitated at any point should be able to sleep... it just makes no sense
I was thinking the same thing about this movie. Alot of it doesn't make sense like most movies. That is until you view it from the point of view that no one is sleeping; thus they are doing things that do not make sense. I once couldn't sleep for going into 3 days and it's no joke that I had the mindset to jump in front of a train if I didn't get to sleep. It was so obvious that my boss sent me home, based only off the way I looked and was acting. If you've ever been truly sleep deprived you understand. I couldn't think straight, nothing made sense, could not make basic decisions and I felt like I was losing my mind. Much like this movie. Again for me, this was only 3 days not 4 -5 days like at the hub. Also keep in mind it was stated the effects are being accelerated for unknown reasons
Great video, and thanks for laying on this grenade for us! Will you be covering the latest offering from Marky Mark “Infinite”? I was only able to get through 45mis of it. I’d like to see how you fair, TS!
The little kid found out the cure while the whole science cutting monkey and taking blood from the old woman. Two things can be directing simultaneously over one another that, everyone has remained no capability to understand anymore and the other is when you come to find a solution but you are thinking high and the solution is just right in front of you that you have ignored just because, it's not worthy enough.
I mean, you can explain some of it with sleep deprivation, like the library scene thing, and forgetting the son was there, then forgetting the daughter ran to the unsupervised car, in the middle of the freaking apocalypse. There are other things so egregious they can't be overlooked however.
I laughed during all the movie for all the wrong reasons...the absurdity of this film is stellar! Nonsense, super-predictable, woke (what a surprise)...in short: a total joke.
@@ugly6646 ahahah...stupidest comment ever. Guys, the Internet is finished! Nobody is allowed to comment/critique/have an opinion on anything if it's not able to do it himself, from now on. Let's close everything up and go home! :DDD
Thanks you for making this video. Although I like Mystery Reccap, their “short cut” is really unsettling as it missing ton of detail, leaving a bigger question mark than the movie have to offer.
I danno but i am comfortable with stuff characters do in the movies that is just done on a whim. Makes things much more real. Like if I want to take a badge just for the hell of it and not just to progress the plot forward it will do. Or if one character has a wound on the face without having to reveal in the story why, its just is.
If you paid attention to the subtitles, we always saw the mom of the two children being named "Women 1". This could be the story is being seen through the perspective of the mom, where she had completely lost sense of everything, forgetting her own name, etc. This can be explained because at the end we see her vision being all messed up and sorts. You may ask, why she forgets her name, but not her childrens? A mom's primary instinct is to protect her children, you can't change that. Hence the movie doesn't make much sense, since it's being depicted from a person who is extremely sleep deprived.
Some aspects were a little rushed but it was a pretty solid 6.4 out of 10. The main character (don't know her name) was great, story decent and the movie was enjoyable
I liked the movie a lot. Dont know why its IMDB rating is that bad! If you start taking every movie seriously, you wont be finding any movie without plot holes!
I watched this movie in small segments over the course of a few weeks. Could’ve sworn it was a tv series, definitely would’ve been better as a series, this felt rushed.
Mathilda's and the old lady's cases shouldnt be that rare. There should be similar cases overseas. Contacting other nations with sleepers and then finding out the cause shouldnt be too hard for the worlds best scientists. This is the most unbelievable part of the story.
I knew the cure an hour into the movie. Spoiler* When the mom finally meets the old woman who can sleep and she says she should have been dead months ago it triggered the answer for me. That the little girl had drowned and died, but was resuscitated. Overall a pretty good movie 8/10.
I knew 7:14 wasn't gonna go well (rather than how Jill thought it would go), but why did the woman have such bad aim? Jill was sitting down and didn't appear to have really moved at all. 😅
The movie was ok, just the pacing was off. for example the church scene things escalated from 0-100 ridiculously fast i.e. cop going crazy killing people, threatening to sacrifice a child etc. and it had only been like 1 day since the event happened
Saw a ton of biblical references, when they were surrendering in front of the car to the military looked like the crucifying of Jesus and at the end she baptized her mom, the whole notion of having to die and be reborn, very cool
Yeah, it was choreographed pretty heavily starting from the event to the end. The problem is that none of the shit in the movie makes a damn lick of sense.
First time watching your videos and I love the presentation, delivery’s and everything else about this video keep it up and I have already liked and subbed!
Movie was.....ok. I'm guessing she was cured in the end' guessing she woke hugging the kids, saying thanks, saying how smart her daughter was to figure it all out and etc... however I hate movies that make u guess. Had I known a head of time it was one of those type movies...I would not have watched it.
I sorta guessed what the cure is. It’s really surprising scientists couldn’t figure that out. I would have loved the movie even more if the scientists found the cure last minute and not the kids.
What I’m trying to figure out is if the soldiers killed themselves how can they be brought back to life is it by a defibrillator or CPR . Since in the movie they killed their mom and brought back to life with CPR and Noah the boy was brought back by a defibrillator. P.S . I didn’t watch this video just a question of concern.
My guess is, after they killed someone, then they need to be brought back immediately. Just like Mathilda, just got CPR right after she got out from the lake. Same goes to Noah. He got charged quickly by the defribillator. So as their mother, got CPR right after drown :). So I think all the soldiers can't be brought back because they have been dead for a few hours.
So, basically the cure is the same as some vampire movie I saw.. where they vampires had to be caught on fire then immediately put out water.. essentially dying and coming back is the cure..
I hope what I've heard isn't true but I was told to watch this movie. Man has always been his own worst enemy. In the words of the person who hinted me this way...so it begins.
you'd honestly be surprised how quickly the military can find something out when they really need to it's kind of insane, got a buddy who works in, intelligence i think, i don't know, he does tech stuff for the military drones and stuff like that and he said while he has NEVER seen or heard any prof that were constantly surveilled, or anything like that, he honestly wouldn't be surprised if we are ALWAYS being watched, but again, he only says that because they've had things prepared for him at work before he's even put in an order for stuff, but he doesn't know if their listening in, or just keeping better track of his job than he does, i remember once one of his monitors was down, and he said it was replaced WITHIN the hour, nobody even knew it was down except him cuz he didn't say anything cuz it wasn't doing anything important at the moment so he never said ne thing, hour later after lunch theirs a different monitor, not a new one, just one from a different office their, lmao, so it honestly wouldn't surprise me if they kind of EXPECTED this sort of thing before hand in the movie and had already been setting up a facility, i mean all the preparations they took where generic post viral warfare preparations, so replace viral warfare with solar flare and nearly more than half what they prepared could already have been in place, but what do i know, i'm just an artist, not a commanding branch of the military jim!
The Badge... It serves her as it would serve us all. To honor the man whom it belonged to (who is also a man who saved her childs life). You can't leave it on his killers dead chest. Also it can potentionaly serve to flash it to people and go im sherif, drop your weapons. You can't blame characters for poor decisions, they are sleep deprived. This movie gets too much hate. Its better than half of super hero sh++t they shove down our throats. Id give this move 7/10. That been said, i am going to sleep.
4:12 Religion in general. Also that’s why both civilian and police should never allow to carry gun around that freely. Only the military have access to it.
I was really annoyed with this film because I completely understood what was going on when those men woke up from coma.... and then at the end it was exposed like wow this is how we fix this...? It was pretty obvious.

That way you still have the rush to find the cure.
@@Thoron_of_Neto the body will go into a paralysis type state at that point which is hinted at by the movie so the lack of sleep will get so sever that you completely shutdown and can’t function then boom dead but this definitely should have been a series so something so crucial to the plot wouldnt be glazed over in a throw away line like that
Finally a movie review of a movie that I have already seen.
Truuuuuuue 😂😂😂
I actually liked this movie I think the way they portrayed going insane it feels like you are getting sleep deprived as well
True. Even it pissed me off. Tho I figured that’s how the movie wanted me to feel lol
I liked the scene where Dodge mentioned FLAT EARTH.
Fr I made my friends watch that part bagahaga
The earth is flat
The little and mother acted very well, every reaction was on pitch! Top notch acting deliveres by the mother and sister!
This movie is infuriating; it has such an interesting premise. But the execution let it down. Seriously, it could have been SO good.
That one sequence at the hub where everyone kills each other is crazy.
They could have did so much good for this movie but they didn’t. Solid 3/10.
More like a 7/10 because when you actually take the movie seriously and try to understand the genre, it is actually really good.
@@calebgilstrap5092 no, not really. It's so disjointed, and poorly explained. Is the genre "crappy movies that don't develop character, nor have a convincing and engaging plot?"
Some parts of it, were interesting on the surface, and that's what this movie feels like. A movie wherein the writers and producers Google "sleep deprivation symptoms" and took the first hit on Google, decided to arbitrarily halve the time, and then throw down a contrived nonsense of a way to begin the sleep deprivation.
*Kicks pinecone*

It wasn’t jump starting that made cars work, it was pre 1988 cars that didn’t have an installed battery that worked. Great idea for a movie, poor execution.
And military cars?
Damn I slept while watching and I literally woke up when the movie ends where she gasped at the end 😅
lmao
I kept wondering how they kept surviving without eating, no refregirators, no groceries, no food, how did they all kept running without food? How many days had passed before the ending?
The idea was good. Just seemed a little rushed. Would’ve been a great mini series to develop the plot over a longer time and not in such a short time period as said in the video
I loved the concept of the movie a lot. I’m into those dystopian style movies but I felt like it should have been a series and have more time to build the story. I felt like the movie was so rushed.
I actually fell asleep a little bit during the movie as well but then woke up and saw the mom handcuffed to some metal pole at the hub and I still felt like I didn’t miss much either way lol.
when i watch movies i don't really care about how close the plot is to reality, i just go along with it. that's why i liked this movie. LOL!
It honestly wasn’t that bad, had a potential
Tbh this is probably what will happen in reality. If you're sleep deprived you will get these symptoms. But then your body will force itself to sleep
The problem is that the movie tried to be realistic because they actually need it for the movie to be relatable and people go get interested. That conflict was one of the reaaons the writing went downhill for this movis
i personally enjoyed it! i lowkey want a part 2
God no .
No should’ve been a series
No
Literally I’m shocked by the reviews ! I loved it
I could smell how bad this movie was from the screen, smelled like desperation. Think Story deserves an award and free therapy for making it through it.
The movie is watchable
Nah I was pretty good I think it’s very different with the no sleep approach but it can definitely be better
@@Donotatmeho no I agree, great unique concept. Just terrible execution, I made the effort to watch it. One of those movies I'll forget about in a few days.
Garbage film with a horrible main character.
Wasn't too bad. Could of been way better! I enjoyed it.
Netflix openly promotes content that sexualizes children much like disney. That scene you mentioned had nothing to do with anything. Furthered the plot in no way
Funny you mention Disney the little girl was in stuck on the middle
You sound like me when I’m watching these movies that make NO SENSE. Thanks!
I think the reason why the pastor can't sleep because He was dead and came back to life long time a go before the solar flare.
@@Thoron_of_Neto its the logic in the movie. Not in real life
Nice explanation, thanks for clearing some parts for me. The movie was fine but it's one of those which I will forget about after a month.
Ikr! I feel like people are hating on this movie bc of dumb characters when that's kinda the point.
Great video, and thanks for laying on this grenade for us! Will you be covering the latest offering from Marky Mark “Infinite”? I was only able to get through 45mis of it. I’d like to see how you fair, TS!
It's stated clearly in the movie that only old vehicles without electronic components are able to work
The little kid found out the cure while the whole science cutting monkey and taking blood from the old woman. Two things can be directing simultaneously over one another that, everyone has remained no capability to understand anymore and the other is when you come to find a solution but you are thinking high and the solution is just right in front of you that you have ignored just because, it's not worthy enough.
This is more fun than the movie.
it's like birdbox but everyone is sleepy as hell
Yeah when characters do things that logically dont make sense, it's hard for me to take the movie seriously at that point.

Although I like Mystery Reccap, their “short cut” is really unsettling as it missing ton of detail, leaving a bigger question mark than the movie have to offer.
I'm shocked that 4:23 wasn't edited.
This would have been a whole lot better if it's something from a black mirror episode. We wouldn't bother much on making it make sense
7:09 I love this scene. It’s funny 😂
Spoiler*
When the mom finally meets the old woman who can sleep and she says she should have been dead months ago it triggered the answer for me. That the little girl had drowned and died, but was resuscitated. Overall a pretty good movie 8/10.

I don’t agree with the car thing but the drowning the mother did remind me of the Bible

a series with a similar concept from 2016 is Day 5 (by rooster teeth productions)
It's so confusing to me why Netflix movies are (mostly) sooo bad but their shows are (again, mostly) great
I sorta guessed what the cure is.
