Happy Sunday guys! ❤️ Any questions just drop them below! I reply to all my comments here and on Instagram! 🥰📸 Do you know which lens I hold in my thumbnail? :))
The Ikea trick is great 👍 If you are on the tightest budget, I recommend the light modifier/Diffuser being a shoot thru umbrella. It's not sexy like a softbox but it works great and spreads light everywhere so you have to get creative on ways to control it. Another Cheap solution is foam core boards, white to reflect light and black to "absorb" the light (Negative Fill). They also can be spray painted with silver/chrome paint to be more reflective. Copper paint works well on certain skin colors. Learning the Inverse Square Law will save you money. No need for a black background if you know the basics of how it works don't worry about the math equation. Thank you, Laura
I love the "i personally love waking up every morning, with all my creative mess around me...." and the place is spotless, like from a interior magazine editorial :D I was like wth, usually my studio looks like it just survived a direct hurricane hit :D
Your heart is in the right place ❤️ legitimate help for hobbyists like me. I’m a late bloomer in photography. I am in the process of setting up a home studio and having my family as my portrait subjects 😁 also interested in interior still life photography. You’re great 👍🏼
😍 Thank you so much Chase! I’m so glad to know that you enjoy my videos! :) Having a home photography studio and your family as models, is a great way to learn! Keep it up! 📸 Big love from London! :)
Im also a late/mature bloomer with all this ideas and a spare bedroom which became an office during lockdown, and thought about a studio after watching this Im doing it
When I started photography at 16 I modeled and practiced with myself for yeaaars. It really does help you become better and know how to use the lighting, angles, etc. ❤❤
Who the hell said that you're not photogenic? Not from where I'm lookn'!!! You are pretty photogenic to me. Keep on grinding. Thank you for this video.
10/10........videos get better and better. This video is great as you really dive into the realms of owning your own studio, making dreams become a reality and the equipment you recommend is all high quality and super cheap. Thanks again for your amazing videos 😁
Este video es fenomenal! Phenomenal video! I’ve been thinking of a home studio on a budget, but didn’t know where to begin! Mil gracias! Thank you a thousand times over!❤
This is my dream 😊 I recently split up with my partner of ten years since then I have had my cameras on the bed next to me where I spend a lot of time lol. Everywhere I look I see something worth capturing. Unfortunately I’m stuck in the mode of not picking a niche. Being a full time wheelchair user has some practical restrictions to what I want to capture, but I’ll work around it!
The other essential pice of equipment is an L Bracket, the camera sits beautifully on a ball head, and is a joy to use shooting portraits and fashion on a tripod.
Thanks for being confident with the language.... A lot of guys who are confident with their knowledge usually fear the mistakes and you didn't! Kudos for that :D

Hi Laura! Thank you so much for your suggestion. I'll definitely keep it in mind to do a full video about it or to mention it in one of my next videos. 😊 Big love to you too! ❤️ Thanks for watching! :))
I must say, very inspirational Ms. Laura. I really liked the part where you talked about how used orange light on that guitar to make the video more interesting (as I have been paying attention to that guitar the whole time haha). Great sum up at the end of the video as well! Lighting is the soul of photography in my opinion. I have been self-practicing photography for around 3 years as a hobby, but I think with this I have finally decided to pick up a flash and be a little bit more serious!
This video was really helpful, I have come to see this at just the right time as I was figuring out how to install the backlight and the ikea hack was great, thank you!
Hi Mateo! That’s amazing to hear! 😍 Glad this video helped. The Ikea hack is so good right? Way cheaper and you get to save loads of space by not setting up background stands. :)) I hope you enjoy my channel! :)

I've just discovered your channel, and wow, so glad I did. I'm in love with studio photography, I'm thinking of taking the next step and making a "studio corner" at home and this video was so informative than many others I've seen. Cheers from Argentina!
Awww Jeremias! So nice to hear that you enjoy my channel! 😍 And yes yes yessss! Build that studio! I was crazy excited when I decided to do it and now I can’t stop using it. Not just for professional work but also for my own creative personal projects! 📸 You will enjoy it a lot, so glad this video helped! Big hug all the way from London to Argentina!
I think a great option for easing into flash photography would be to look at using a speedlight paired with a transceiver. Personally, I use 2 SB-24 speedlights and own 3 Cactus transceivers. That is what I had when I started learning flash photography about 10 years ago. Then, life happened and I walked away from photography until a couple months ago. Now, I've gone back to using the same thing, paired with the Godox S2 brackets, 2 umbrellas and 2 entry level light stands. The Godox brackets allow both umbrellas and bowens mount light modifiers to be used with a wide range of light units, including speedlights. Now, I do realize that a speedlight may not be as powerful as a monolight, but they are something I was able to get for cheap years ago and I don't have to pay for them again as I get back into photography. I can upgrade my light modifiers before my flash units, or I can choose to upgrade the flash units first. It is just very nice having that level of flexibility and choice. If you are just starting to look into flash photography and don't have the budget for a complete monolight setup, consider looking into something similar to what I described. Remember, the best gear for learning with is what you can afford or already have and sitting at your computer and only fantasizing about gear setups won't help you learn the art.
One thing you didn't talk about is wireless triggers. Very much recommended to avoid cables everywhere and accidental light/camera falls. Just make sure you get compatible wireless systems (godox for godox lights, Profoto for Profoto lights, ect.). Note, Godox and Neewar look the same, Godox is the manufacture of both brands, however I've yet to find any confirmed report of wireless compatibility. Your Neewar light won't work with a Godox trigger and vise versa.
Neewer is a rebrand compagny, they rebrand godox, cononmark, visico ect... if you take a godox rebrand neewer the trigger will work, and most of time you ll have a jack to put other brand receiver on the flash. I use 3 brand with the same trigger.
Noah! that's amazing to hear! I share the same passion for portrait photography and product. Being able to do it at home is just so handy. You can spend all the time you want experimenting. Thank you so much for your words! I really hope my channel grows one day! 😃 Big hug! ♥️

This is exactly the video I was hoping to find! You answered all my questions, after me trying to figure out what to buy over the past few weeks. Thank you so much. I've just ordered a continuous light, softbox and stands. I'll be saving your video in order to order some other bits in the coming months! You're a star! x
Awww so nice to read this! I'm glad this video helped you with your gear. 😊 It's all very affordable and works in a professional level so I'm very happy with all of it! Enjoy it now! 😍❤️
I have watched a few of your videos, subscribed right away. This was a good video. I liked the dramatic paper background colour. Using yourself as a model - well, you are younger and more attractive than any person my age, but you gave good advice. One has to learn. My editing software does not have tethered capability. I use Control My Nikon and it does lots more than I need, but your needs may vary. Do use some sort of tether cable safety cord so a tug on the cable can’t put sideways pressure on the camera’s connector. I use TTL and love it, but my Godox radio trigger will transfer settings set using TTL to manual (TCM button) but another Godox unit does not. This is a nice feature to have, but you may find you don’t need it. I’m just an amateur, but still like playing with toys.
Hi Edward! Thank you so much! I’m so happy to know that you enjoy my channel! :) I totally agree with you, everyone’s needs are different. We all love to play with our toys and discover what is best for our work! 😍📸 It’s nice to experiment and try different gear to find out what we like the most, what we need, and what we don’t. It’s all a learning curve, a very creative one! 🥰 Big hug from London!
Well constructed presentation that tickles ones creative buds. I have just been inspired to create my own home studio and I know exactly what equipment to buy and the budget I need to work with .
Hеllo. Very useful video. I'm currently wondering what kind of flash to get. Do you know if your's is suitable for "splash" type of scenes where the water spills. As far as I understand, I have to buy and an external flash trigger for the magic to happen?
Thank you so much Nikola! 😍 So sorry for the incredibly late reply, I've just seen this. I'm so happy to know that you enjoy my videos. This flash is enough for splash type scenes. With a continuous light you would struggle. And yes, you have to buy the trigger to connect with your camera separately. Thanks a lot for your support! Big love! ❤️📸

Awww so nice to read this! I'm glad this video helped you with your gear. 😊 It's all very affordable and works in a professional level so I'm very happy with all of it! Enjoy it now! 😍❤️
@@LauraBC thanks Laura! I will ❤
I have watched a few of your videos, subscribed right away.
I totally agree with you, everyone’s needs are different. We all love to play with our toys and discover what is best for our work! 😍📸
It’s nice to experiment and try different gear to find out what we like the most, what we need, and what we don’t.
It’s all a learning curve, a very creative one! 🥰 Big hug from London!
Awesome and so very helpful! Thank you for this video!

I want to hear you play that bass.
Thank you Laura! It helped me soooo much!!! Thank you!
Big love! ❤️📸
Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge!

hi Laura! first of all, thanks a million for sharing valuable info, you inspired me a lot! i'm about to buy the essential gear, and wondering about paper backdrops. i also live in London and as you know the humidity can be quite high here, i wonder if you noticed it affecting the quality of your backdrops overtime? thanks
