Cante Alentejano is a genre of traditional two-part singing performed by amateur choral groups in southern Portugal, characterized by distinctive melodies, lyrics, and vocal styles, and performed without instrumentation.

You're absolutely right! Me, understanding portuguese, born portuguese, and even being a singer/musician cannot understand Cante Alentejano because I am not from Alentejo! Only TRUE people that understand Cante are from Alentejo! Doesn't matter that you appreciate it wherever country or place you are from! Doesn't matter that it fills you with emotion and even made you cry! If you're not from Alentejo you cannot understand it!! You're absolutely right!!

I belive every portuguese understand the cante alentejano, but only the people who live in the interior of portugal live this. Because the portuguese interior has been forgothen.

We have towns and villages mainly in Alentejo where the majority is foreign and you hardly see Portuguese people. (They) are repopulating Portugal and the rest of Europe. 🤦‍♂️

So what? Do you really think any European people, especially the Portuguese, come from a single genetic origin? You came from Celtic, Iberian, Semitic, and Indo-European ancestries, to name the obvious ones. There is no such thing as genetic or cultural purity, and there is no such thing as "us" or "them", we are just people, get over it.
