- Опубликовано: 20 июл 2024
- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train drivers view on Slovenian & Croatian Railways between Ljubljana in Slovenia and Rijeka in Croatia in 4K/60 frames per second.
This journey will take us from Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia, in the direction of Postojna which is, at an elevation of 582 metres, the highest railway station in Slovenia. From Postojna the line goes to the towns of Pivka and Ilirska Bistrica, which is a border station with Croatia. From there the line descends to Rijeka, a port and industrial city on Croatian coast.
The railway line to Rijeka was built in 1873, giving Rijeka a direct link to Vienna.

I always knew from past videos that the Slovenian countryside was gorgeous, and this video is changing my mind about the Croatian countryside. Thanks for showing this part of the world.
@kenyongray2615 Happy to hear that! I wish you a nice weekend.
I have not yet finished watching this video but was compelled to tell you now how much I appreciated the height, track, speed and distance information on the bottom left. This added hugely to the enjoyment of this cab view video. 👍
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your comment and I am glad that you liked the added information. I think that added information is valuable, but please bear in mind that those information is based on GPS data and sometimes are not accurate. I am not sure what is the best. How much additional info is enough, not to disturb the great view. Do you think the map line is important?
@@RailRelaxation I found the track line very valuable. I'm only at km 41.5 at the moment, but the map line combined with the height information explained why the journey had an almost 180 Degree turn in it. It explained that the rail track was following a line around the valley that allowed the rail track to have very little gradient in order to climb to the other side of the valley. Without the map line I don't think I would have realized that the view to the right as the train was climbing the opposite side of the valley was actually looking back at Ljubljana. Without the map line I don't think I would have realized that the train had made a 180 degree turn. One only has to look away from the screen for a few moments to lose ones sense of orientation.
I didn't find the information in anyway intrusive into the video. I watch cab view videos on a 55" TV and so I figured that the size of the information was perfect. Easy to read yet not intrusive. It might be different if one is viewing it on a 15" computer but for me it was perfect.
As to the quantity of information, I was thinking it would have been nice to have the time-of-day and week-of-year info as well!
I think that today we all drive around in our cars with GPS data and are very aware that it is not very accurate, especially when going through tunnels, so I figure that anybody who complains about the accuracy is not living in the modern world. A simple "disclaimer" at the beginning of the video, about the fact that the data comes from GPS information and that you can't guarantee its accuracy, is all you need to make.
I don't comment very often on RUclips videos, but as I said, I enjoyed the additional information so much that I felt I had to let you know immediately and not wait until I had completed the journey.
... and I thought that the fact that the height info was color coded was fun. 😊
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@@RailRelaxation I'll step forward to say that the information you give us along the way, plus your map line, add a lot to the value of your videos without being overly distracting to the experience, because they help us to see where we are on your journeys.
@David Hughes thank you very much for your really kind feedback. It helps me to improve. I appreciate your effort to comment. It helps a lot.
I always put the fact about the GPS data accuracy in the description of the video.
@Jos Callinet I appreciate your feedback. As I already said before, this helps me a lot to improve my videos. Thank you.
These railways to The Adriatic Sea offer absolutely magnificent views, was a pleasure to watch every km of this cab ride. Drove also once between Rijeka and Ljubljana, parallel with the railway, but the perspective from the train cab is definitely different. Thanks a lot for the video, greetings from a traveler and creator from Germany!
@Roads thank you very much for your comment. I totally agree with you, when the lines descends to the Adriatic Sea, there is something about it. It just offers the magnificent views....I love the fact that the countryside totally changes in just a couple of hours travelling. For me, coming from Brasil, this is so fascinating.

Thank you, I will. I still have so many plans....now the autumn colours are so beautiful, that I will certainly film again some lines that I already filmed in the spring or summer.
Another nice one... thanks! And now I just want to see the line coming into Rijeka from Zagreb!

@@bowueggertz6813 yeah, the story goes something like this, they were firstly built under some open licence in romania, seem very similar but have more power distributed across 6 axles, these were called romanians, you can see some here, but mostly in eastern republics those bigger ones, so i think končar zagreb started building them here, those asea ones, but i think also those romanian versions too, not sure about that tho, but i think i've read something about that, cheers from cro mate!

Thank you for this video. Nice and interesting cab ride in a beautiful and globaly sunny day. Some beautiful landscapes. Is there any incompatibility between slovenian and croatian network which forces you to change machines at the first croatian station ?
Yes, Slovenian 3KV DC, Croatian 25kV AC mono phasic and both railways use locomotives only for that system, not 2, 3 or 4 system loco, where they only change the crew.

@Rail Relaxation: You've put together a GREAT video - wonderful videography of a train journey through beautiful countryside on a gorgeous summer's day.
I HAVE ONE SUGGESTION, HOWEVER - could you please find a way to record the AUDIO in stereophonic sound? (Watch your compatriot DULEVOZ's train videos - he has a good stereophonic microphone, which really captures the sound of the trains he videos in full-range stereo - adding greatly to the sense of 'being there.') The sound in your video here is very constricted monaural - it's like watching a 2022 film in 2160P full-frame video, with a 1930's soundtrack.
Despite my one criticism, I watched your journey from Ljubljana to Rijeka from beginning to end, and I greatly enjoyed every minute of it! Thank you very much for creating and sharing this experience with us! I have also subscribed to your channel.
@Jos Callinet thank you for your comment. I am glad that you like my videos. I am working on the sound, just bought a better microphone and at the moment I am testing it and trying to improve the quality.
@@RailRelaxation You're welcome.
It's great to hear you're trying out a new microphone - have fun with it! (Make sure your 4K video camera has the ability to record audio in stereo.) Adding good, clear, full-dynamic-range stereophonic sound to your crystal-clear videos will be the "icing on the cake," because it will round out and complete what you are creating - which are, in essence, AUDIO-VISUAL EXPERIENCES. Even as it is, your video of this journey from Ljubljana to Rijeka was for me very IMMERSIVE, especially when viewed on a good 4k monitor screen - your video made me feel like I was THERE in person - after a short while I was "lost" in it.
As perhaps you can tell from my comments, I am a big enthusiast of high-fidelity audio - the quality of streaming audio is very good now, even on RUclips, when we are fortunate enough to have decent equipment to hear it with. I just bought the French company FOCAL's newly released "UTOPIA 2022" flagship headphones, which are by no means inexpensive, but when used with really good associated audio gear, they bring both music and other recorded sound to life in an amazingly realistic way.
@Rail Relaxation: I took another look at your video here today, Sunday, 9 0ctober 2022 - and although, yes, your sound is monaural, it came through far better than it did the day before - which suggests that RUclips was somehow adversely affecting it. That adverse effect has now cleared up, so to be completely fair to you, your audio is much better than I described it in my first comment above!
There is only one way to describe your video here - it's simply GORGEOUS! Man, you know how to properly set up and use your video camera - you have it very well adjusted to handle bright sunlight when it's directly facing into the lens - everything else remains sharply in focus, with relatively little glare. I'm looking forward to your next releases.
@Jos Callinet thank you very much for your comment. I am observing that the video quality my be different with different internet quality. Sometimes there are oscillation of the internet, and I think that might explain the difference in the whole experience.
@Jos Callinet I really appreciate your reply. Like I said before, I bought a new microphone and just today I made a video that I just checked it on the computer and I believe it will be one of the best audio recording that I ever made. But in any case, I would like to say that I still have a few videos that was recorded before I bought this microphone. So I am kindly asking you all to be patience, because I am doing all that I can to improve the audio experience too.

Vsaj to.

1:56:43 Je li još postojala granična kontrola kad je snimano?
@sasakomsic2408 Da, još je postojala granica.
Fabulous video.... BUT... Why on earth did the shunter at 1:57:43 go between the locomotive and the leading coach to couple up when the loco was still moving? He would have felt my ire if he'd done this with me being the driver! More shunters are killed and/or maimed doing their jobs than any other grade in the railway industry. The correct and ONLY safe way is to stand clear of the locomotive on the ballast or the platform, signal the driver to buffer up, wait for the driver to apply the automatic brake fully (thus ensuring that the locomotive cannot possibly move) before going in between to couple up; I always used to get out of my cab to observe the shunter correctly coupling the locomotive to the train. I am a retired UK train driver and former ASLEF Health & Safety Rep... The UK railway rule book says drivers must stop 2 metres short, then move to 1 metre short , then buffer up/attach the auto-coupler. All of these moves are done on hand signals by the shunter... I cannot possibly believe the rule book applicable to the railwaymen working at this location can be materially different... And as for riding on the buffer beam step holding onto the handrail of the locomotive whilst in motion... the mind boggles.... Stay Safe!
@bigcasey4143 thank you for your comment. It looked dangerous at the time.
@@RailRelaxation you could easily have been filming a man being crushed to death... That was really bad working practice... Even the driver appeared to be driving from the wrong cab for the manoeuvre being made. The cabs of all trains in the UK are fitted with data recorders (known as OTMR) & forward facing video cameras, so management know precisely what drivers are getting up to. as it continuously records everything you do, including the time/date, cab driven from, speed, brake applications) air brake pipe pressure, power settings, vugilance device responses ... even warning horn usage, in tenths if a second of each tone... There are regular downloads of data from the attached hard drives & a download is always performed following an incident... Trying to hide the fact you've had a station overrun, or passed a signal at danger is therefore impossible.
Although it is not permitted for occupational safety reasons, it is often done when there is visual contact with the train driver. In the very rarest of cases, accidents happen; people know what they are doing. Incidentally, I did that myself more often when I was regularly shunting for a railway museum in my free time.
Of course you shouldn't jump between the locomotive and wagons at the last moment, but that wasn't the case here.

za tako " razvito" slo je to sramotna hitrost
??? Hitrost je omejena predvsem zaradi poteka proge. Precej je vzponov, spustov in zavojev. Vse to zmanjšuje najvišjo možno hitrost.
Ravno to soboto sem šel z vlakom do Rijeke..
