Having seen you bit the bullet to tame a shadowmane, I guess it is about time for me as well. Being distracted by using the stryder to gather stupid amounts of resources, after having gotten both a grinder and an industrial forge from drops made me fast-forward my plans for a main base much faster than expected. I decided to play on 0.8 exp gain and 1x gather to slow down my usual progress, but Gen 2 introduced things that gives me high-level stuff for free, along with the best resource gatherer thus far.
@@bjorn1847 that preference thing is straight made up bs lmao, devs said they don't have preference if not for weight of fish, some 1.4 are 1.36/7/8/9 rounded up to 1.4, that's why you get different percentage
Me and my friend have a fun difference when comes to finding things. Generally he finds all the low levels, whilst I find the high levels. Same with drops, he gets bad drops, I get good ones. However, on alpha kills and other things that give a "reward" of sorts, he gets the good drops, whilst I get mass ramshackle and apprentice.
Awesome creature! “Catnip Evergreen” would be a great name for a green one but I think Crimson Yawn is just purrrfect for a ferocious cat that takes naps.
Taming a shadowmane is SO hard especially since it takes enough time that the game just respawns stuff around when I was doing it and it annoyed me so much, it made me mess the taming a few times

Fish baskets refresh the spoil timer if you go in water while they're in your hotbar. They have to be on your hotbar not inventory. If you press the teleport attack instead of holding it you can target a specific enemy. This helps if you don't wanna piss everything in the area off. Finally, the big alt attack is called "assassination attack" because if you kill a creature with it you'll immediately be able to use it again. Make sure to use it on creatures that are low health so you can spam it.
I agree When I was finally prepared to tame a giga (asc longneck, shocking tranq and biotoxin) it didn't take nearly as long I didn't need to find good fish and rush w them as to not spoil the baskets didn't need to care if it aggroed or if my timing was spot on
At like 18:23 when you use the shadowmanes special attack or whatever, when I played I noticed that it’s not that you can use it a couple times, you use it and if you do enough damage to certain creatures, it fully refills the bar Just thought I’d share what I learned :) great vid btw

@@ShadowFox10587O It runs so smoothly on my laptop. I have an RTX 2070 with an i-7 9750H (if I recall). Only have 16gb ram right now but planning on upgrading sometime. I have a 1T SSD. That's really all I can think of that would make any difference, but I haven't crashed and it runs so smoothly. As someone who mostly plays on their PS4 for convenience, playing on my laptop, it's nearly a different game.

If you out the filled basket in your hotbar and swim in water, the spoil timer resets to 40 minutes. Also you can build a 2x2 trap with walls double high all around. He won't be able to aggro and you can feed him through the wall
Syn a bit of information on the shadowmanes is that with the Ult/Power attack you can do the males and females do different debuffs with them The males do the same debuff as if you hit them which is shadowmane poison and it reduces the melee of the target that is attacking you and they also gain the debuff when you get hit by the other creature and the female also gives the debuff when hit But the female does a different debuff with their Ult/Power attack which is Shadowmane Bleed and it does a bleed for 1% Health of the target which is similar to the bleed of the Deinonychus
Oh yea Syntac! The reason they flip like that when jumping is based on how cats will flip their bodies when falling to try and land straight up! They also will open their legs to help with speed! Squirrels and others animals do it too, it's how they're able to jump and land almost entirely unscathed!
The jump cooldown is the left icon above your 'ultimate' charge bar, in case you were wondering. the right one is the lightning dash. fairly certain the middle one is the stealth option.
my recommendation for the strider is keep one in space and the other near base when the right biome is out use the excavator one in space and store things in its transmitter when full use bed teleport to other one then grab everything i have more peals metal and mutigen then i know what to do with
A tip for your cluster, tame salmon on Gen 1 1 under the ice lake at Arctic n and then cryo them to transfer, and rebasket on gen 2. The reason to do this is because Shadow Man's get more gaming percentage with bigger fish and salmon can spawn really big there I found a 2.5 yesterday
Things you might not know about shadowmanes 1. Their cooldown is longer for each creature hit in the chain lighnting 2. They will heal 800 hp if asleep uo to 50%. Around per second 3. There alpha roar effects humans too.
For when you want to breed them theres an easy way by making a 2x2 box with 2 high walls and then running out of render and coming back to replace the wall its attacking then u can easily tame it without a problem. I have a bad explanation but theres a good video on it and its very simple for taming higher levels.
That attack is just if the blow is a finishing one, you get it back. Meaning yeah, if the dodo's die In one hit it will keep. If somehow it doesn't it won't keep.
Yeah imagine a flyer using rare flowers to attract multiple creatures in one direction then as they get closer the flyer disappears Then out of nowhere a lightning fast shadowmane zips through everything
Syntac the got to sleep is actually a quick heal. basically if your shadowmane is really low on health you can put him to sleep and in a few seconds it starts to heal only to half health. Hopefully you read this :)
wow, I never realized you could tame Coelacanth.. I figured you had to find the target near a river so you can go get fresh fish while you wait for it to sleep.
The spoil time on the fish basket simulates the time a fish take to die of suffocation out of water, that surprisingly is quite a long time in real life

Shadowmane Tips: -You can use all your attacks underwater, including the jump! -You can jump quite a few cliffs that exist! -If you charge your jump for less time, you jump a shorter distance but the CD is shorter! -For a specific target for the lightning warp, click RMB instead of holding it! The red symbol will show, and you can click RMB again to use the attack! -If you hold LMB you can bite!

If you tame a male shadowmane name it ajani (from Magic the Gathering) Also, if you kill sth with the charged punch of the Shadowmane, it keeps the charge
Its a LOT easier if you tame a Shadowmane the same way you tame a Hyenadon, ie putting it in a taming pen where it cant make line of sight while you wear a ghille suit with cactus broth in effect. And you can save the fish in Cryopods until youre ready to use them again to avoid letting them starve or needing to feed them.
Someone likely already has told you or you’ve figured it out, but in case someone else doesn’t know, if the fish basket with the fish in it is on your hotbar and you go into any kind of water that you can drink from, the spoil timer on the fish basket will be reset.
The Shadowmane stun teleport attack works in an area I think. You can see the area it covers when you charge it and it grows the longer you charge it. and using the ult attack on the shadowmane as the last hit on a target instantly refills the bar.
If your reading this 3 yrs or more later. U can cryo fish after trap and keep them to recatch once shadow mane is trapped. U can put filled basket in hot bar and it has no timer. U can trap shadowmane Peace
You dont have to be so fishy with shadowkittys :) Here a few lifehacks: You can sneak to them with ghillie and dont have to run away after feeding. Just stay calm, put the Kitty into the tracker and equip another Fish. After this, stay near it the whole time (at least 30 meters away so ist dont see ya, If it turns).. if you are to Far away, you dont have enough time to feed it . Take the biggest fish you can find otherwise it will lose lvl like this one. 1.5 or bigger for perfect tame.. I prefer all over 1.3 and will catch at least 2 2.0+ fishes for taming. You can store them into cryos as long as you dont need Them! Fish traps also reset spoiling, If you are go into the water (fishes have to bei in the hotbar!) You can net Shadowmanes to reset their aggro. Taming will NOT reset and they fall instand asleep, so you can give Them Fish! Also you can grab Them will quetz or skiff and fly to a Safe place.
its possible to trap shadowmanes and it makes the tame super easy if people are struggling. also putting fish on your hot bar while under water resets their timer if you need help with that
You can trap them and they won't get aggro, you can even run to them. Make sure you replace the wall which they are trying to attack until they are out of aggro then go away until they sleep.
As a heads up, if you kill a creature with the charged attack the bar fills again. With a good mutation stack and plenty of levels into melee these things are absolute beasts that can just spam the charged attack over and over killing most things instantly.
You can trap a shadowmane. Using its teleport to drop it in the trap fly way and back don’t fly over pen land sneak up and replace the wall it’s hitting and loses agro. Then it will sleep feed and it stays in trap no need to run away
The quality of the fish determines how fast it tames and the rate at which your effectiveness drops. I noticed that from taming a few. By quality I mean by size. When you get a 1.5x + tend to work very well.
The Shadowmane inflicts creatures with a venom as soon as the Shadowmane gets hit by a meele attack. That venom works similar to the Deinoychus bleeding.
Hey Syn, if you use the ult attack and kill the dino you get it back, also my friends tested it and you can see your shadow mane invisible but for other players outside tribe they are completely invisible
If you kill a creature with the ult attack it will recharge immediately so that you can use it again. you can not kill another creature with the immediately recharged ult attack directly after that and get it again, you must recharge it the old fashon way. (by punching and biting a creature)
I find it kind of funny how @Syntac has called his Maewing Milkshake from the beginning and i was taming my first Maewing and called it Milkshake aswell
if you actually put a filled fish basket on your hot bar and go in water it resets there timers back to 40 minutes, again it only works if theyre on your hot bar

I recommend using them to kill alphas since their poison lowers the damage of an enemy’s attack that stacks up to 5/6 times like a deinonychus’ bleed.

Shadowmane Tips:
-You can use all your attacks underwater, including the jump!
-You can jump quite a few cliffs that exist!
-If you charge your jump for less time, you jump a shorter distance but the CD is shorter!
-For a specific target for the lightning warp, click RMB instead of holding it! The red symbol will show, and you can click RMB again to use the attack!
-If you hold LMB you can bite!

If you tame a male shadowmane name it ajani (from Magic the Gathering)
Also, if you kill sth with the charged punch of the Shadowmane, it keeps the charge
For me I'll take a Enforcer over a Shadow any day of the week.
The jump has a cooldown, it's just above the hotbar on the left. The more you charge the jump the longer the cooldown will be btw
Imagine this was like volcanic biome in gen 1 and hits him and the shadowmane at 97%
Its a LOT easier if you tame a Shadowmane the same way you tame a Hyenadon, ie putting it in a taming pen where it cant make line of sight while you wear a ghille suit with cactus broth in effect. And you can save the fish in Cryopods until youre ready to use them again to avoid letting them starve or needing to feed them.

Someone likely already has told you or you’ve figured it out, but in case someone else doesn’t know, if the fish basket with the fish in it is on your hotbar and you go into any kind of water that you can drink from, the spoil timer on the fish basket will be reset.
Name the shadow and “red menace” think this Name could fit really well!
The Shadowmane stun teleport attack works in an area I think. You can see the area it covers when you charge it and it grows the longer you charge it. and using the ult attack on the shadowmane as the last hit on a target instantly refills the bar.
Just a tip, you can put the filled baskets on your hotbar and then go in water to refresh the timer.
If you put points in to mele damage the chain lighting attack will do more damage

U can cryo fish after trap and keep them to recatch once shadow mane is trapped.
U can put filled basket in hot bar and it has no timer.

Here a few lifehacks:
You can sneak to them with ghillie and dont have to run away after feeding. Just stay calm, put the Kitty into the tracker and equip another Fish.
After this, stay near it the whole time (at least 30 meters away so ist dont see ya, If it turns).. if you are to Far away, you dont have enough time to feed it .
Take the biggest fish you can find otherwise it will lose lvl like this one. 1.5 or bigger for perfect tame.. I prefer all over 1.3 and will catch at least 2 2.0+ fishes for taming.
You can store them into cryos as long as you dont need Them!
Fish traps also reset spoiling, If you are go into the water (fishes have to bei in the hotbar!)
You can net Shadowmanes to reset their aggro. Taming will NOT reset and they fall instand asleep, so you can give Them Fish!
Also you can grab Them will quetz or skiff and fly to a Safe place.

its possible to trap shadowmanes and it makes the tame super easy if people are struggling. also putting fish on your hot bar while under water resets their timer if you need help with that
You can trap them and they won't get aggro, you can even run to them. Make sure you replace the wall which they are trying to attack until they are out of aggro then go away until they sleep.
As a heads up, if you kill a creature with the charged attack the bar fills again. With a good mutation stack and plenty of levels into melee these things are absolute beasts that can just spam the charged attack over and over killing most things instantly.
You can trap a shadowmane. Using its teleport to drop it in the trap fly way and back don’t fly over pen land sneak up and replace the wall it’s hitting and loses agro. Then it will sleep feed and it stays in trap no need to run away
If you put a fish in a basket onto your hot bar then jump in water, it will reset the spoil timer on it.
I love the interaction of the creature and the new creatures really raised the bar.
The quality of the fish determines how fast it tames and the rate at which your effectiveness drops. I noticed that from taming a few. By quality I mean by size. When you get a 1.5x + tend to work very well.
The Shadowmane inflicts creatures with a venom as soon as the Shadowmane gets hit by a meele attack.
That venom works similar to the Deinoychus bleeding.
Hey Syn, if you use the ult attack and kill the dino you get it back, also my friends tested it and you can see your shadow mane invisible but for other players outside tribe they are completely invisible
If you kill a creature with the ult attack it will recharge immediately so that you can use it again. you can not kill another creature with the immediately recharged ult attack directly after that and get it again, you must recharge it the old fashon way. (by punching and biting a creature)
I find it kind of funny how @Syntac has called his Maewing Milkshake from the beginning and i was taming my first Maewing and called it Milkshake aswell
if you actually put a filled fish basket on your hot bar and go in water it resets there timers back to 40 minutes, again it only works if theyre on your hot bar
