Couldn’t beat it back then and still loving it today 😊
Glorious days, weekends,,, memorys that will LAST a LIFETIME,, LONG LIVE THE SCOOTERBOYS,,
Totally agree, great times
Brilliant.....Best days of our lives....livin for the weekend.
Absolutely, great times.
Best years of my life and still riding a Lambretta! Fantastic photos without a twist and go in sight
Or no plastics as we called them back then.
Plastic chariots 😂
I was there from 78, and still at it today.
Just seen this..wow now that bought some memory’s back. After 30 years with out a scooter. I am now back on the road with a 180ss Happy Days
Fantastic video, fantastic times 😊
Thanks, the best times
My first rally was Scarborough 1981" which was Outstanding, Then went to nearly most main Rallys for the next 5yrs, Best years of my life, Had so much fun" and for me mt All time favourite Rally has to be IOW 1983 and 1984 where there was easy 10k+ scooters, and the Hottest too, Coldest must of been Dunbar 1984, (frozen cables and fingers), Inland rally Newark 1984 was great too, Anyway one could go on and on i guess,!! Many thanks Mick for the share" and keep on Keepin On Scootering," and God Bless to those that are no longer with us, 🙏✊PATCH✊
I loved all the Scarborough rallies and IOWs back then. You said Dunbar was the coldest, I went to a couple there and one was so hot..... we got drunk as you did at mid day, then dossed down in that carpark with grass banking. Fell asleep and woke hours later covered in sunburn. In the meantime I think Mansfield Monsters & Notts Britainia were running around fighting! Happy Days 😊
I remember Dunbar 84 as being quite toasty. We had an easy ride (Perth Red Star SC) as it not too far away. We stayed in a hotel called the Roxburgh. Sat night it all kicked off n hotel got absolutely trashed. Extinguishers going through windows etc . I missed most of it as was pissed out of my tree lol but I do remember the owner running about going mental. Prob not the scooterists finest hours I must admit but great memories. To be fair to the owner he served a fantastic breakfast on Sunday morning lol.
We laughed we did.....🙌
Crazy time in my life and brilliant memories
Greatimes- scooters cost next to nothing compared to now. No cheque book Charlie’s like now - just youth and lots of fun
The best times.
My first scooter cost me £125.
loved 80s rallies ,especially isle of wight. 2 up on L plates using a borrowed full license, on your ....ahem.. 125????? 225cc with 28mm amal carb sucking in rain, and over kickstart fresco and tuning shop stickers all over it, or 'restricted' 50??? special vespa keeping up with everyone else doing 60mph,police checkpoints, knife and weapon amnesty bins when you got off the ferry, and going to the campsite, piss wet thru, with no tent and just about enough money for fuel on way back on sunday, knowing that if you ran out 130 miles from home it didnt matter ,cus you had no job to get to on monday anyway. Wank at the time but great memories now. The 80s rallies were a bit tense and had that feeling of, 'This is fucking great, but it can all go tits up,just like that', wouldnt change those memories if i could though. Nostalgia is never as cold ,wet and hungry as it was when you were there . Great vid, great times.
That is so true
@@greghonda5475 I remember it like it was yesterday👍
Memories indeed. I remember coming home from a great weekend in Morecambe 85. I don't think I could have been any wetter if I'd jumped into a swimming pool as it was chucking it down.Stopped at services on M6 and got as many plastic bags as I could lay my hands on and made an outer skin over my allready soaked gear. Totally pointless really but seemed to make total sense at the time (19).. Just enough money to get home. Totally winged it in them days as you had no fear. I miss my youth lol.. now I would have it planned like a military operation (but probably still forget my waterproofs lol).
@gordonspence6544 remember that morecambe rally well. Got pulled by police 3 times on way back down to Midlands on a px, for 'spot checks' . Being 2 up on L plates didn't help either if I'm honest.
Fantastic photos i loved the 80s runs we had no money but lots of enthusiasm. Loved the Armando special i could only dream about owning one
Glad you liked them. Great times and yes we went all over the place with little money, no mobile phones and normally no map until found a Little Chef.
Great days 👌
Moved onto classic bikes but loved my mis-spent youth!
i was into motor cycles, met a great guy at work (1985) into his cooters. I was amazed at the skill and design in some of them, saw my first Lambazki, Lambretta with a Kawasaki engine. Also i have always like two tone....
NOICE
I'm impressed by how well worn and basic some of these scooters are......truly testament to a movement which celebrated the people, fun and good times. I've never owned one but I always thought the whole scooter vibe was so cool.......not about speed or spending excessive amounts of money. The only "mods" in those days were the dudes that rode the scooters!
Well worn and worn out probably sums up a lot of the scooters back in the 80s but you'd be surprised how much some of them cost to do up and how fast you can get them to go.
Loved that
Thanks! I was just about 30 when these pics were taken -- perhaps a tad older than many of the folks in the photos. There was no scene like that where I'm originally from -- Mississippi in the U.S. -- but I actually do relate. Thanks, too, for turning me on to the Jesse Gallagher tune (I downloaded the album). A terrific, if somewhat correctly eerie, soundtrack for the images.
Thanks. Crazy times back then over here. I have mates still going on the rallies now and quite a few passed on! I bet Mississippi was / is a world away from those photos. Though probably nothing like I imagine it.
I did almost every rally from 82-86
Me too but I started end of 79
@@madmickshere My 1st rally was unofficial Skegness end of 81 season
thats how i remember the scooter scene , a lot of the scooters were wrecks but still got you to where you were going,
Selection. Thank You. . Restriction 2 Marshall.
Cheers
Change the music sounds terrible like a wake
who chose the god damn music ffs
Wonderful.... Background music a bit different, but suits it, great days
Cheers
