There's a clear bias in the video. Disappointing. Didn't even mention how Nintendo didn't file those those patents until AFTER palworld came out. And you did the barest "research" into why and how this affects ALL gaming, not just palworld. Also players are allowed to stop playing a game for a while until there's an update, which you also failed to mention because a huge update was just announced several days ago. So saying that it fell from grace is SUPER weird. Furthermore, this goes even deeper because Sony and Nintendo have a rivalry which also affected palworld and they got caught up in their mess. There's so much misinformation in this video and ill faith talking points along with a clickbait title and thumbnail that the only good thing about it is that you didn't go into a random alt right vent about how it's also woke or something (yet). But yes, Infinity Nikki is good. If that was the only actual point you wanted to make in the video.

I want to share something I've learned about mobile games that suddenly shut down after just a few months. A lot of these games are created by smaller companies that are linked to bigger gaming firms based in the West, but they actually outsource their projects to smaller companies in Southeast Asia. The idea is to ride the hype of a major title, roll out a clone game, and then shut it down once they reach a certain level of in-game purchases. They then use that money to fund the games they really want to develop. After shutting down these short-lived mobile games, they often sell or bid the source code to other companies. It’s a pretty common practice in mobile games. I found all this out when I was applying to a gaming company in Southeast Asia, where they filled me in on their operations. The developers are really passionate about their work, but at the end of the day, they have little control over these decisions since they’re just working for the company.
Oh wow the first game not only ripped off palworld, but they completely lifted the entire GUI and Style of Genshin Impact. I was genuinely so confused when I saw it cuz I was watching the video from the corner of my eye, but everything looks exactly like Genshin, right down to the rendering and font, thats actually fucking wild EDIT: MIRAIBO TOO ???? Graphics are not exactly the same but the font in the closing off statement is quite literally the exact same one they use in Genshin, wharr???
i swear i never see people mention that the Genshin GUI has spread to like, every new open world / gacha game idk what it is it’s not that great of a UI😭
@@angelofedenism Well, it's clean, obvious where everything is, and good for mobile. And even if it's not the best, I've never seen anyone complain about it either. (Also some companies focus on the wrong things with popular games lol)
Kewlbiverse may not be ripping off Palworld, but it sure as hell is ripping off Genshin. The UI is clearly heavily inspired from it and HSR, if not blatantly stolen, the blue design is also very reminiscant of Hi3's UI, though that's a stretch even for me. The world design is straight up copied from the game, like, uncanny levels. Even back when Genshin was being called BoTW copy you could see what was Genshin and what was BoTW. Looking at gameplay it's even creeping me out just how similar it is lol
For so long on the kewbiverse section i was thinking "wow, i really like the world aspects and styling" and then i realized....its genshin impact. Almost all of the world assets look just like genshin, and it was OVERLY noticable when it zoomed into that one yellow berry bush plant. Like, the whole landscape is just the same as genshin down to the tree and plant assets.
keep in mind that patents and copyright are two different things the reason nintendo isn't suing for copyright over the designs is because they didn't have enough of a legal leg to stand on, while the designs can look very similar, they are legally distinct enough Nintendo went with the patent lawsuit because A. Patent law in japan is very strict and almost always favors the accusant, and B. it was much easier for them to build a case
For Pokemon to win on design theft, Pokemon's own designs would have to be original and be able to show directly how Palworld stole specific design elements, not just "cartoon pun on the idea of a dinosaur plant (a real thing) in the art style of Akira Toriyama (who neither of us ever paid for designs)". I think a lot of people don't quite get the degree to which the original Pokemon stuff is just not very original itself and that they probably have good reason not to want to go to court with that.

@@ZalYagunRyai I am not a fan of nintendo games and very much not a fan of their practices but like... Palworld is a really bad thing. To have this game that is blatantly just stolen assets and designs (and not even their first game to do this) be openly advertised at TGA and on Steam and make millions of dollars without an issue sets an incredibly scary precedent, especially for indie games which are far more likely to have their assets stolen (and the game already used stolen fan-made pokemon designs).
Did you know they do have controversies? The cultural approriation, racism and fetishisation of the native cultures they did in one of their older games. Lumping all native cultures into one amolgination of fictional kingdom literally called Wasteland. Not to mention their inability to add darker skin tones. Gatcha use, and other tactics to milk as much money from players as possible. Some of the events they had was literally predatory and like a betting game on ugly ass dress sets. Making sence of urgency to buy ingame currency to even get any rewards from events.
What are the AI elements in question? I was actively expecting and looking out for generative AI presence, but didn't notice any, so I'd like to know what I missed.

Once a new technology is invented, everyone will attempt to replicate the technology and use it in their own products without first checking if it's even applicable
i wouldnt say palworld 'fell from grace', it just is a part of the normal lifecycle of a popular game where its really strong atfirst and then dies off once people get their fill of it
This. Find me another predominantly single player game that doesn't dip and spike with updates. That's how it works. It's just people trying to invalidate things they don't like.
@@DelondialLottracus I mean yeah, but Palworld's literally had a 99% drop for what is supposed to be a forever game, which doesn't bode well. Doesn't mean that itll die or anything, but games that see that big a drop rarely ever recapture their former heights (and this is coming from someone who likes the game mind you)
I think for me its more of the slow updates with new content. I know they’re taking a ton of time and work to work on the updates, but it is still very slow
@EnigmaticGentleman I think most of their time went to fighting with Nintendo and working around the lawsuits. Nintendo is gonna get what they want no matter what, which is messing with them until they become irrelevant. However, Pocketpair has succeeded in opening the door for other studios to produce a monster catching game. Hopefully, something sticks cause pokemon needs competition.
I feel like since genshin got popular theres an endless amount of knockoffs. Not just in gameplay but also artstyle. Genshins artstyle isnt groundbreakingly unique, but its unique enough that anyone copying it is VERY obvious And like.. it isnt even.. that good looking in the first place 😢
@@gooeater1544and genshin ripped stuff off already, I mean try to compare raiden and Vergil's move sets and animations and try to say they aren't suspiciously similar.
The reason Nintendo didn't sue Palworld over copyright is because it's too big of a property to risk. If by some metric they lose then that opens The floodgate for them to lose the strength of their IP. Pokemon is a billion with a B Dollar business and risking all of that over a single game rip off would be absolutely insane from a risk versus reward perspective. So instead they fight it out with the patents which they would not have even bothered with if they're direct competitor Sony didn't pick up Palworld and start positioning to make it into a global IP that could compete with Pokemon. They would have just left it alone if Sony didn't do that because it's not worth the risk otherwise. The patents are proxy for all this other stuff because of course other games have touched on those patents
Its not even about copyright though, its about the gameplay patent infringement which nintendo created after palworld released the early access not before. People that watch this person really doesn't do any research and just eat up any misinformation and blindly hating palworld
@kensei1912 the gameplay patent infringement is a proxy to prevent Sony from acquiring a competing IP. It's not even actually about the patent itself, they have had that patent and a bunch of others like it forever and don't enforce it unless it's in situations like this. Nintendo sues people but never for no reason.
I do think that some amount of copying/competition is fine in game development. Stardew Valley was inspired by Harvest Moon and Rune Factory, but it eventually became the industry standard for farming sims, for instance. But when it comes to Pokemon, they were the industry standard for monster catching games with their debut, and they've stayed that way. I think it would be hard for anyone to make any cute monster catching game without it being inherently like Pokemon. Harvest Moon was popular, but somewhat niche, so it was fairly easy for Stardew to "dethrone" it after so many years. Meanwhile Pokemon has been internationally record breaking for over 20 years. I think it would take a really unique, stylish, and fun game with enough similarities and differences to really be true competition for Pokemon.
Agreed. I think Nintendo trying to snuff out Palworld is more of a “the friend of my enemy is also my enemy” type thing, though. Palworld has made a deal with Sony, and Sony and Nintendo are not on great terms with each other. Palworld went from a meme that got big, but was still owned by a small company, to a potential actual threat to Nintendo’s rule over the monster taming genre. Sony can pump out merch and such at a much higher rate than Pocketpair alone, and has already made moves to advertise Palworld and expand the franchise greatly. That said, Nintendo trying to snuff out the competition in this way is really scummy. Patenting game features shouldn’t be allowed, because it stifles creativity. Sure, there’s other ways to visually display catching or sending out a tamed monster to battle, but Nintendo being the only one who can let players throw their monsters in a capsule to spawn them in is not something I can agree with.
i'm kind of mixed between happy and sad that palworld has had the impact it has. on the one hand, i am deeply hoping that more palworld-like games will come out and i guess shake up the landscape of monster collection games; too many have tried to lean on the pokemon-like end of the scale and i would love to see a more diverse gaming landscape. on the other hand, as someone who has been working on a monster collecting concept for years and hopes to one day make it a real game, i am dreading it because i feel it will be labelled as just another palworld-inspired game. 😅
I looked at this game for ten seconds when it came out and said "This honestly looks like shovelware trash" only to be met with "NO ITS NOT, THE GAME IS ACTUALLY REALLY ORIGINAL AND IT HAS GUNS111!11" Low and behold, it was shovelware trash, my surprise meter is measuring off the charts
as someone who spent WAY too much time playing Genshin Kewlbiverse is definitely ripping them off too, even some of the plants are direct rips of crops in the game. It makes sense they would blend another super popular game with Palworld to try and maximize the player base. The landscapes of both games too seem to be directly inspired by the Monstadt region (starter region) in Genshin. The rip off ception just keeps going!
@@adelaestrella3338 you could had a flying creature or maybe a jetpack or fast travel but no🥲 apparently someone thought that shatting fire would be a good idea….
Seriously, all the mental gymnastics the Palworld stans do to justify how lazy Palworld's art style is seems even more pathetic given how nice these designs look
Frankly, my biggest issue with palworld is that it just feels like a game that's designed *for* sales. Like the thought process behind designing it was to garner media and online attention (all publicity is good publicity style) Aside from that, I'm not interested in doing things that are upsetting to npcs (like forced labor), and I'd much rather a very different departure from pokemon's turn-based-combat creature collectors. Speaking of, i need to look into that volleyball one i saw mentioned in the comments...
Looking at every single part of palworld and their devs... you're 100% right. The game was designed to essentially be an outrage machine. All the marketing focuses (and to be clear I dont care what the game focuses on if the marketing doesnt) on being mean to the pals, shooting them, blowing them up, edgy, mean, slavery, haha don't you remember being kid Pokémon want adult make blood This means people got mad cuz it looks like a shitty asset flip, got mad because the marketing was asinine, etc., and therefore people played it because everyone was talking about it, either as "Keurig did a good thing", or as "Fuck Keurig I hate them" And yeah, live service game that nobody is live servicing isnt a good sign when its neither the players nor the devs
I mean youtube was litterally created because a couple of guys wanted a place to post a boob reveal video, snap chat came into being so that nudes could be sent and then disappear after a certain point. Sometimes concepts do outgrow or become something bigger/better/different than the thing that inspired their creation. I think the popularity of Palworld litterally shocked the Devs. It was supposed to be a fly by night meme game. And even with it not being as popular as it was at launch right now, it appealed to something core the maturing Pokemon fanbase wanted in a game. And that’s worth Game Development noting and taking notes from.
I implore anyone who sees this to actually look into the patents that Nintendo owns, you will find that they have the means to sue almost every gaming company on Earth via their patents simply because Japanese patent law didn't stop them from filing patents on the most general game mechanics you can think of. I am firmly of the position that patenting a game mechanic is bullshit, I'm still salty about the "Nemesis" mechanic getting a patent

Not really related to the video topic, but Infinity Nikki is super duper good! I'm really glad you got a sponsorship with them, it shows that you choose based on what you think your audience would enjoy! Great video too btw
I remember seeing a Poketuber be sponsored by MiraiboGo which is already kinda hindering your credibility, but they litterally said the phrase "I'm gonna tell my kids this was PalWorld" which was WILDLY playing with fire considering how much it was clearly a PalWorld ripoff down to the stolen designs shown in the sponsored segment. Extra funny it's shutting down so quickly, even Concord had more going for it
I wanted to erm acktually the line about Pokemon monopolizing the monster catching genre by bringing up my beloved SMT, but then I remembered that an average person would just answer "SMT? You don't actually _catch_ the personas dude"

It’s well known that Pokemon took inspiration from smt and dragon quest monsters, but it is undoubtedly far and away more popular than either of those, and a lot different tonally.
@@twilightjoltik3151 The former is exactly what I'm saying, it pains me that the original SMT has been around for ages, but is often forgotten about in the monster hunting genre. Fair point about the tone, although if the persona series isn't too chuunibyou for most, then mainline SMT shouldn't be too much of a stretch
9:00 Everyone has already mentioned it, but just want to point out that the artstyle you love so much has literally been stolen from Genshin Impact. As someone who plays it daily, it is pretty much impossible to not recognize certain assets and environments from Mondstadt or Liyue.
Love or hate Kewlbimon, they sure cooked… _something_ with Fyrix. Like here’s a conventionally cute looking fox creature with flaming fur. Perchance, it spits fireballs and is the equivalent to that one Pal you use as a flamethrower? Nope, it FARTS flames and you use it as a jetpack. Is this what they call “gap moe”?
Someone should make a more creepy/dark monster-catching game like SMT but with more mainstream marketing and monsters/humans that look more intimidating than cuddly.
Nintendo has been patenting shit as basic as "a character standing behind a tree still has a shadow". The patent system that was originally intended to protect creativity is now little more than a weapon for big companies that can afford frivolous lawsuits and big risks to bully smaller developers, just like the copyright system has been weaponized to DMCA bad press/reviews. The industry is heading in a direction where pretty much everything that releases will have to fit a box like "CoD-clone", "ARK-clone", "BotW/Genshin-clone", "metroidvania", "soulslike" that has been proven safe because people made dozens if not hundreds of them without getting sued for it successfully while more original mechanics like the nemesis system in Shadow of War get tried once then shelved forever. That being said, originality isn't the the be-all and end-all of quality, Infinity Nikki could be described as the Sims clothing menu slapped onto Genshin's exploration gameplay and I've been enjoying the hell out of it even though I also play those other games, having played ARK and Pokemon didn't kill my enjoyment of Palworld, in fact I welcomed it because of that, Gamefreak and Wildcard had been managing their IPs poorly enough that I was hoping for more competition that could either replace them or force them to improve to stay relevant.
Even if a company does steal an idea, I would rather see them fight in the marketplace than the courts. Especially when it's a small company vs a very big company. Taking an idea, improving on it, or repackaging it to make it better, or even selling it cheaper, is the heart of commercial competition. If we can't do that for game data and code, what does that mean for other technological products, like advanced manufacturing techniques or robotics? The free trade of ideas is a net good for everyone.
I dont get the fall from grace , the game is still top 30 most active game on steam and people just dont play the same game over and over Please show me a game where the player number keep rising infinitely.....

I don’t understand why people are trying to tote Palworld as this innovative, anti-big-company political piece. Like yeah I’m a Pokemon fan but I’m not a Nintendo bootlicker. This entire game has felt bad-faith from the start, especially with them straight up just stealing designs as (presumably) either laziness or some sort of gotcha to Nintendo in which case. Wow. Way to really…. stick it to the big guy by stealing designs made by passionate artists and showing that you’re willing to sink that low. Edit: Begging ya’ll to learn how to read before you reply to this comment.
It would make sense if they went after the designs. They've definitely been more than just inspired with some of them. But that's not what the legal issues are about, it's nintendo thinking they own rather basic gameplay features.
Y'know, it might be cool to see Izzy cover the game Sky: Children of the Light because it's a really interesting flying game, but there's a lot of company controversy within the player fan base.
absolutely! there’s also a lot of controversy in the community on its own. there are a surprising amount of pretty nasty people on there, whether they’re just selfish, weirdos (ykwim), or straight up mean. there are def a lot more than there used to be
I mean, all games will slowly lose numbers as they age, elden ring did that too, but nobody is saying its a bad game. The updates are steady, and yes some broke some stuff, but most things were fixed fast, and the nintendo lawsuit is pretty bad to the point where no one is cheering for them here, they aint suing for a pal looking too similar to a pokemon, its about mechanics like throwing balls to capture stuff, or riding your captured mobs around. which just shows that the designs were not the issue, nintendo just dont want the competition really. I think I really disagree with the way this video phrases palworld as "falling off" and being this "cautionary tale", when its still the same game it was before, just with more content and some fixes. Its not perfect, still has a lot of issues, some really old ones. But for goodness sake, it hit 49k players today at peak, thats plenty and a new update is just on the horizon. Theres a reason its getting so many copycats, if it was as dead in the water, then no one would be spending cash trying to impersonate it a year after release.
@@PKSunset okay, so elden ring, sold 25 million, its on 40k rn, so it fell off like twice as as much?? again this logic makes no sense, by it, 99% of games older then a month have fallen off lol. Its the healthy cycle of a videogame, something that was normal a few years ago, until people made it into some weird game where they wait for the numbers to drop to call the game dead lol. Some of the biggest and best games out there, at some point, will have died out completely. Like oh no, the classic half life 2 must have really fallen off, it sold 30 mill copies, but only has 9k players, it really must have gone to the dogs to be so low on players. Maybe that sort of thing has some validity with always online, always multiplayer games. But when its a majority singleplayer/coop game where you can play, and finish the game. It makes zero sense.
@@PKSunset Keep in mind a majority of the player base is on console and those numbers cannot be counted. You are coping for bringing up stats to justify an argument that isn't supported by the stats you are using. Multiple other games sold X million copies but only have a few hundred thousand consistent players. That is how it works. Not everyone continuously plays a game. Elden Ring had similar numbers, and so did the last damn Pokemon.
oh my gosh, I'm so mad because someone commissioned me to do pokemon inspired illustration. But they don't gave design for the trainer and the pokemons! so I have to made that up myself! they gave a bunch of AI arts as "reference" but it so far off and make me confused instead. They kept asking for more, even though it was far more beyond the budget 😭😭
Just as a heads-up, but commission clients like this, especially with no real specifications and AI art reference, can be scammers. Remember not to send any refunds until you're 10000% sure their entire payment has actually cleared, and only send them back to the original payment method! It's usually best to just flat out not accept commissions from anybody who can't *clearly* articulate what they want.
Honestly you should just cut contact with anyone who gives you ai generated references. I don't take their excuse " I can't do a reference " anyone can do a croodly crooked pen drawing from first grade. Make art for people who respect art.
the nintendo lawsuit has nothing to do with stopping the game it'self but instead is because sony bought palworld and they need to make sure sony can't do some cutthroat legal loophole bullshit (it's japan companies are just like this) to fuck with pokemon and palworld is collateral.. basically thats the tl;dr
Pokemon never had guns in their games people that say "palworld is copying pokemon" need to get a real life also pokemon didn't invent the monster catching stuff at all so pokemon aka nintendo is copying another monster catching game MIC DROP
I have seen some channels mention that if Nintendo go after the throwing mechanics patents. Rockstar could actually sue them due to them owning the rights to a Mod that was created before that mechanic was patented. I'm not sure if that is actually true, however, it would be funny if that happened.
I'm not an expert on IP Law, but since that Mod was a Pokemon Mod I feel like that would kinda fail since it's pretty undeniable copyright infringement.
@@Star-vf8vz while yeah, nintendo owns the name of Pokemon. Rockstar would own the code of the mechanic of throwing the ball. Due to the way that they have the whole "we own the rights to the mods created" way they handle things.
Reminder that Palworld could have just took the money and ran, there was no incentive to add FREE updates. A bunch of cry babies will always see it as a rip-off that got lucky but I saw it as finally a reason for Nintendo to get off their lazy asses and make a better Pokémon game. Yeah, Palworld is more ARK with pokemon than pokemon with guns.. but pokemon has a much larger and kinda self centered fanbase, so of course it is all about them...
Honestly the big thing that puts me off from Palworld and all these Palworld-likes is how nothingburger the creature designs are. They all feel like they’re trying too hard to be cutesy/cool and appealing to the point that they just feel generic? Pokémon always has a bunch of weirdos like bugs and objects which while not everyone’s favorite help to make things not feel samey and have a lot of personality to them. My favorite Pokémon nowadays is GHOLDENGO for god’s sake, despite how silly it looks!
It's because the design process starts and ends with "make it kinda look like this Pokémon but change it a bit so it's not blatantly illegal". Salazzle is a seductive lizard because it's based on the mo'o, which is a mythological Hawaiian lizard creature that shapeshift into seductive women to prey on men. Fitting for a Pokémon from a region based on Hawaii. Lovander is a seductive lizard because Salazzle is a seductive lizard.

How much responsibility they feel they have to “Make Pokémon Great Again” which really calls to mind how silly and petty all of this is; The designs I really like that have a lot of meaning to them are Snivy and Zygarde (specifically the 10% form: “Zygarde 10% Forme may be based on the wolf Fenrir. The green leash-like object around its neck could be based on Gleipnir, the rope that binds Fenrir. Its left front paw has a different color from the others, being green instead of black, which is possibly a reference to Fenrir biting off the god Týr's right hand in reprisal for being bound by him. This Forme could also draw inspiration from Garmr, the watchdog that guards Helheim's gate. In appearance, it resembles a Dobermann Pinscher.”) with Snivy's inspiration being part Asian vine snake is so interesting to me because of how they made a snake into a literal “Vine Snake” (“Designer Reiko Tanoue mentioned that the idea for Snivy's design came from a picture book which mentions snakes that have the appearance of vines;[1] the specific snake may be the vine snake, tree snake, or green snake.”) and the western culture inspiration is also really tight!

4:13 you say no doubt in your mind but if that was the case nintendo would've sued over that and had a slam dunk case That they're going after them thru patent trolling is rather telling. Being able to send out your monster where you want is more integral to palworld than pokemon since the battle state is in the field. @@RoyalKnightVIII That's my point. Regardless of copying. I think it's terrible that Nintendo is trying to copyright game mechanics 🙄 especially ones that have already been used a ton of times... Like come on!! I hope they lose or that Nintendo gets a ton of backlash for this at least... Because there's bound to be a creative soul out there who wants to create the best variation of this type of game that backs out of it because they're scared of Nintendo suing them regardless of how similar or dissimilar it would be to Pokemon. Also what about Digimon games? What about yokai watch?? Also yes! I agree. Pokemon has had the dang torch long enough... It's time for someone better to come along cause I'm pretty tired of Pokemon's monopoly doing the shittiest work on their games because they have no competition 🙄
The reason for Palworld's decline is that the game isn't meant to to be played for years. It gets repetitive if you don't seek out new things constantly. But that's also true for almost all the games out there. Just like Pokemon games. The player counts for Pokemon games also nosedives after a certain period. But all things considered, Palworld was a breath of fresh air for the genre and I'm glad they managed to pierce the impenetrable dome Pokemon created.
I need to get me not a rip off game, sooo glad love Nikki group sponsored you! Even their phone ver has a lot of beautiful outfits! Hope u check that ver out too
Say what you want i love pal world. The ark like gameplay mixed with the creatures witch are clearly legally distinct yet very similar feels like a big "i hate Nintendo" AND I LOVE IT
YEAAA LETS GOOOO INFINITY NIKKI MENTION!! like its a really fun game its worth playing it's like playing through a 00s Barbie movie and say that as a positive
Pokémon ripped off way too many things to be called original itself. I actually like palworld, since it's sticking it to Pokémon by making an actually engaging game that doesn't run at 2fps. Palworld is not a ripoff unless Pokémon can be called one, since it steals from ultraman,(staryu, DC(palafin.), godzilla,(tyrannitar, frigibax, Aggron, Starmie, and many more) many pre existing folk lores, and they couldn't even keep their original NAME because of how blatant of a ripoff it was. " capsule monsters" was already too close to a pre-existing property, monster quest did the monster catching thing, and many Pokémon are direct rips from many properties. Pokémon should suffer greatly as a result, if they get to win this trivial lawsuit, monster quest, ultraman, and godzilla all then have grounds to sue.

What the fuck
15:17 I took the "forgiveness" line to be apologizing to the players who have put actual money/time into a game that would only last a month

keep in mind that patents and copyright are two different things the reason nintendo isn't suing for copyright over the designs is because they didn't have enough of a legal leg to stand on, while the designs can look very similar, they are legally distinct enough
Nintendo went with the patent lawsuit because A. Patent law in japan is very strict and almost always favors the accusant, and B. it was much easier for them to build a case
Really looks like she didn't even bother and just has bias over nintendo and pokemon with everything about palworld

When the Devil Children games are resurrected........ That's when Pokemon will be dethroned...........
Stardew Valley inspired from Rune Factory-Does not Compute
i'm kind of mixed between happy and sad that palworld has had the impact it has. on the one hand, i am deeply hoping that more palworld-like games will come out and i guess shake up the landscape of monster collection games; too many have tried to lean on the pokemon-like end of the scale and i would love to see a more diverse gaming landscape. on the other hand, as someone who has been working on a monster collecting concept for years and hopes to one day make it a real game, i am dreading it because i feel it will be labelled as just another palworld-inspired game. 😅
People can't make anything these days without it being called a ripoff of something else.

It's hilarious to me that the Palworld ripoffs have more original creature designs than Palworld
Seriously, all the mental gymnastics the Palworld stans do to justify how lazy Palworld's art style is seems even more pathetic given how nice these designs look
Frankly, my biggest issue with palworld is that it just feels like a game that's designed *for* sales. Like the thought process behind designing it was to garner media and online attention (all publicity is good publicity style)
Aside from that, I'm not interested in doing things that are upsetting to npcs (like forced labor), and I'd much rather a very different departure from pokemon's turn-based-combat creature collectors. Speaking of, i need to look into that volleyball one i saw mentioned in the comments...
Looking at every single part of palworld and their devs... you're 100% right.
The game was designed to essentially be an outrage machine.
All the marketing focuses (and to be clear I dont care what the game focuses on if the marketing doesnt) on being mean to the pals, shooting them, blowing them up, edgy, mean, slavery, haha don't you remember being kid Pokémon want adult make blood
This means people got mad cuz it looks like a shitty asset flip, got mad because the marketing was asinine, etc., and therefore people played it because everyone was talking about it, either as "Keurig did a good thing", or as "Fuck Keurig I hate them"
And yeah, live service game that nobody is live servicing isnt a good sign when its neither the players nor the devs

The only thing Palworld has going for it, is a bunch of disgruntled gamers pretending that it's a pokemon killer, when it doesn't even compete with pokemon.
Edit: Also, an example of an infinitely growing game? Hearts of Iron IV. it's done nothing but grow for 7 years.
@@DissedRedEngie i agree its a bit unpolished ,and i don't get why people call it the pokemon ripoff or Pokemon killer. Because the game is barely have any pokemon gameplay and more closer to Ark ripoff
Yeah but filling patents on game mechanics that you didn't invent in the first place is very ethical and fair
@@jinniziWhere did I say literally anything about the ethicality of what Nintendo was doing?
It would make sense if they went after the designs. They've definitely been more than just inspired with some of them. But that's not what the legal issues are about, it's nintendo thinking they own rather basic gameplay features.
@@RisingRevengeanceI’m not even talking about the lawsuit
cant believe you got "oh so you hate waffles"'d TWICE
Oh nah, over 8 million sold and a 20,000 concurrent player count is a fall off.
Im tired of this coping
@@PKSunset elden ring sold over 28 million copies and got a player avg of 40k.
your argument is stupid and tbh nonexistent
@@PKSunset Tf? It's not a live service game. People finished the game, thats all
@@PKSunset Keep in mind a majority of the player base is on console and those numbers cannot be counted.
4:15 'moon channel' has an extremely good video going into this re: japanese patent culture
Yes!!! I think anyone who watches this vid would appreciate that one.
16:27 Why was bro doing a little jig
oh my gosh, I'm so mad because someone commissioned me to do pokemon inspired illustration.
Man, look at what they need to mimic a fraction of BeatieBalls power
eh, beastieballs designs aren't very interesting either, and most of the people playing palworld are specifically looking for something thats 3d
Having to purposely butcher your game to avoid legal violations you didn't know were punishable is crazy any way you look at it.
"let me just list off a quick 👏👏👏👏 list" was so iconic
the nintendo lawsuit has nothing to do with stopping the game it'self but instead is because sony bought palworld and they need to make sure sony can't do some cutthroat legal loophole bullshit (it's japan companies are just like this) to fuck with pokemon and palworld is collateral.. basically thats the tl;dr
love ur new hair !! ^___^
this is more important than my guitar practice
Pokemon never had guns in their games people that say "palworld is copying pokemon" need to get a real life also pokemon didn't invent the monster catching stuff at all so pokemon aka nintendo is copying another monster catching game MIC DROP
Have you heard of Cassette Beasts? It’s a monster collecting game that’s super underrated I feel
But they took the legal route which was the laziest thing you could have done besides nothing. If the next Pokémon game is a buggy empty ugly mess like the last 3 games I will specifically blame the people who complained about Palworld.
15:36 a theory… a game the-
Gamefreak themselves ripped off Dragon quest, they have no leg to stand on.
I’d say Palworld copied from ARK more than Pokémon, just replacing the Dinos with Pokémon. Almost every other mechanic was the same
you throw balls, have dungeons and use captured beasts as base builders in ark?
Pokemon took eggs (Gen 2), variants, and Terastilization (Digimon Rearise,2018) from Digimon. Z-ring (Yokai watch), Whisper (Rotom Dex), Z-crystal (Yo-kai medal),etc from Yo-kai watch.
I'm sure the 2D Artstyle in Pokemon S/V is from TemTem.
@Dany-rx7rs don't forget how similar their og designs are to dragon quest 2
it definitely was ark but reskinned with Pokemon, I was never sold on it
Yeah, Palworld is more ARK with pokemon than pokemon with guns.. but pokemon has a much larger and kinda self centered fanbase, so of course it is all about them...
Im usually weirded out when youtubers are sponsored by mobile games but omg Nikki the queen
We need some crazy infinity war crossover between yuh gi oh, Pokémon, digimon and monster rancher
Monster Farm/Rancher's failed MMORPG still makes me sad all these years later
@@leetri Exactly, thank you, I see everybody on the Palworld side defend the designs to the teeth for no reasons except to hate on Pokémon/Game Freak/TPC/Nintendo. The whole foundation is built on spite and greed that it's insane I see people willing to sacrifice themselves for this game.
@@leetri There a kind of Design philosophy to make your monsters memorable but it doesn't mean you have to used the same artstyle.
@@GasmisenFeik There is a reason why the game is currently dead. A game where it's hype solely comes from spiting another game never lasts in the long run. imo
@@GasmisenFeikthis is so true. i get we all want to support indie projects, but it really just feels like the only reason people defend palworld so hard is specifically because it's an indie game and they want to stick up for the little guy vs the big evil company or whatever rather than any actual merit the game might have. it's so obvious that they're trying to rip off pokemon, and even if you can't prove it from a legal standpoint it's super obvious and the people who claim it's totally original are just lying to themselves, and why wouldn't you want to play a game with it's own identity?? there are a lot of games out there with a similar premise to pokemon that are about monster catching and battling but are clearly their own things, but palworld is just blatantly trying to be pokemon but in a different font.
PETOCRAFT SOUNDS LIKE A FUCKING COMEDY SKIT WTFFF
For anyone not fluent in finnish.. (peto means beast or predator) yeah wtf were they thinking😭
I've not laughed that much in a while lmfao
4:13 you say no doubt in your mind but if that was the case nintendo would've sued over that and had a slam dunk case
That they're going after them thru patent trolling is rather telling.
Being able to send out your monster where you want is more integral to palworld than pokemon since the battle state is in the field. Pokemon still has the battle field be static and turn based so where your monster is released really isn't important
They'd be in so much better a position if Pokemon itself had ever developed a really cohesive vision of its creatures or its own unique art style.
@Nassifeh would they? The court case does not mention nor really involve the ©Ed elements
What Nintendo is tackling ar the broad mechanics
Pokemon took eggs (Gen 2), variants, and Terastilization (Digimon Rearise,2018) from Digimon. Z-ring (Yokai watch), Whisper (Rotom Dex), Z-crystal (Yo-kai medal),etc from Yo-kai watch.
I'm sure the 2D Artstyle in Pokemon S/V is from TemTem.
@@RoyalKnightVIII That's my point. They can't reliably sue over the designs because they're already derivative and they have very little chance of proving that Palworld stole their exact design elements, rather than that Palworld used the same concepts and inspirations they did. So it was their own unoriginal way of working that led to this.
1:31 OMG THEY MADE ANOTHER GAME??? I HAVE DRESS UP NIKI AND THATS IT
there are 5 games in total! nikki up2u, hello nikki, love nikki, shining nikki and now infinity nikki. the servers of the first two games aren't up anymore
Infinity Nikki is great I highly suggest it! I’ve been enjoying just running around and getting outfits! The animations and voice acting is also really good! Except the occasional bug, but they’re rare.
14:48 "peto" meand "fart" in italian, so it's even funnier for us

my partner works at a pet store called PetO, they hate going out in public with the shirt on
Hm… I think I’ll just stick to Minecraft mod packs.
YAAAASS INFINITY NIKKI it is my GOTY
