I’d say in this one the subtitles are pretty spot on. The rap is in Urdu and often times Urdu words are more complex and deep with a lot of meaning, so translating it does require a little extra explanation
The rap part was translated surprisingly well even though the lyrics were pretty deep, the singing part had fewer verses and were simpler in comparison but it wasn't as accurately translated to my surprise, which makes me think there are more than one person involved in translating the songs.
The first Singer Faisal he has had his band called "Strings" and has also produced some of Coke studio previous season songs. So he is quite famous.
Omg, you sing so well!! No wonder both of you are able to pick up the nuances in the Pakistani singing like nobody’s business. Esp with the modulation that you did mimicking how Faisal was singing. He’s a legend; and I would love it if you guys can react to Strings band awesome performances (which he was a part of). I have enjoyed this Coke Season partly because of your reactions too because I learned from your views. Will be cheering u on in future as well. All the best 👍
Great reaction as always. This was a single take gentlemen with the elaborate set depicting challenges and struggles of the artists and with hope at the end ( light at the end of the tunnel sort of)
Phir Melainge ( pronounced melain gai ) means till we meet again.
Loved your live song in the beginning ! Well done !
Danielle showing off his singing skills, them vocals though mate.🔥
Thank you for reacting! And yes, that’s one of the great things about Coke Studio, the rhyming translations doesn’t effect the meaning, in fact makes it better to understand the deeper meaning.
You know the leading singer Faisal he was part of Strings Band
Strings :
Strings is an internationally acclaimed Indie Rock band, currently comprising of two members; Faisal Kapadia and Bilal Maqsood.
Faisal is band's lead vocalist while Bilal is the lead guitarist, who at times lends vocals for songs too.
They are known across the world for their stringed rhythms. Their songs are applauded not only for their melodies but also for being highly poetic. The lyrics are written by Bilal's father and famous
Pakistaní writer Anwar Maqsood.
Their song 'Na Jaane Kyun' was also
featured on Spider Man 2as an OST.
You forgot to mention that they also produced 4 seasons of coke studio
@@hafsawar5917 yep you are right Thank you 🤘🏻
Faisal kapadia is a music legend in Pakistan. Together with Bilal Maqsood, he formed a band "Strings" in 1990 n sang not only in Pakistan but also in India. They also sang the OST of Spiderman II in hindi language. They ruled the local music scene for 30 years, produced many seasons of coke studio n then they disbanded around 2020. Now Zulfi requested him 1 last (& first as a solo) song for season 14 n he complied.
Abella, your voice is sooooo gooood!!!
Coke studio is like puzzle game you have to focus on each and everthing to find the hidden beauty
Wow, you guys are really talented! Loved your singing in the beginning!
And thanks for introducing and reacting to music of other countries.
Wow amazing what a voice such beautiful u sung it ....... Im listening it on repeat
This song,is all lyrics, so deep,so mesmerising,so powerful.
Amazing vocal disection.....this song sings one in it......objective review is easier said then done
season 14 close with this song guys 2 generations of music in this video
faisal kapadia is the legend he has 33 year old career the man which has taken over the hollywood and bollywood in his young age the man who gave music in spider man 2 and many other the man who produced the 7,8,9,10 seasons of coke studio the man which have legacy great to listen him but damn he still looks soo young
Indeed Strings is a feeling and Faisal's voice is so nostalgic.
@@hafsawar5917 yes❤❤
The lyrics in english are pretty spot on. Urdu words are deeper than English, one word means more than 1 thing.
Please react to the magical journey of this song. You will have a much better understanding of everything that went into creating this amazing track. Sadly, this is the final song of season 14. It’s intentional that they saved this song for last, because“Phir Milenge” literally means “until we meet again.” So this is CS team’s way of saying goodbye for now.
Last song of this season 🥺 phir milenge means ( till we meet again )
The translations are pretty accurate and beautifully capture the essence of the lyrics of the rappers.//
So you should pay attention to them, you might think they are lengthy but that is because Urdu- the language they are rapping in has words that can say all of that without huge explanations the same isn't true for English.
So to still balance the peotic essence they are intricately arranged in English.
This time, the subtitles didn't lose the exact translation
always always love your reactions . please react to the next older Coke studio song called Baliye laung gawacha by haroon shahid and Quratulain Baloch. it's awesome
great Freddie rendition ..
Good reaction in detail. I like it, its coke studio season 14's last song.
By the way your song in the start was awesome.❤️
man.you have amazing vocal.
I think you should also react on the Behind the Scenes of " The Magical Journey | Phir Milenge". You will get the insight of the song, you will find out how much hard work they did to produce this gem. Btw the whole Video and Audio was 1 TAKE shot(obviously after several rehearsals). Also, this song was the last one of the season 14. You will see the Xulfi(the producer of this season) not only singing but also crying in the rehearsals. You will love it.
I think meaning is often lost in translation, but I think coke studio does a good job in translating the meaning behind the lyrics the best they can!
Edit: I really appreciate them having the urdu lyrics at the top, the urdu written in english in the middle, and the full english translation at the bottom!
Beautiful ❤😍✌
Mashallah Coke studio Pakistan 🤗😍😘😇😚☺

Coke studio Pakistan a music from heaven.👼👼👼👼👼👼👼👼👼👼
love your song love my life!!!
Hello 👋 Dave and Mathew, it is always a pleasure to see one of your reactions!!
As for the translation of the lyrics. I do not know if they are trying to rhyme it or not, but if they are; it is lyrics and hence poetry!
As you are already familiar, since you both are professional songwriters/singer and musician. A word to word translation called "transliteration", would clearly not do just, and may even garble the over all meaning.
Languages, especially ones that are from different language families and culture, tend to have dissimilar perceptual views, on a given subject; giving rise to contrasting connotations and associations.
What I am trying to say is, I think the translator wished to convey the actual meaning that the lyricist wished to convey. Which sometimes requires extra words to be added, to bridge the gap between different languages.
There is also grammatical differences between languages that changes the length of statements.
For example, the English statement, "I am lost" would be translated in Urdu as "میں گوم ہو گیا ہوں۔", a standard way of saying! Though "میں گوم گیا" would also make sense to us, just not the standard or formal way of saying!
All in all, it is the poet or lyricist, who actually knows, what he wished to convey. Though poets/lyricists do tend to make their work flexible, leaving a little space, for the audience to ponder over it. Therefore, viewers tend to see it differently depending on there own life experience, cultural background and maturity!
Finally, I am not a linguist, songwriter or a poet! This is just my opinion!
Best of luck to both of you, in you endeavors and hope to see more of your reactions! 🙂
love u both
oh dear guys just remembered you haven't reacted to a song by fateh Ali khan called khuda aur mohabbat OST. it's gorgeous visually and vocally. it's mesmerising 😊
Always looking forward to reaction from you guys. Been following your videos throughout coke studio season.
And yes you are right, the lyrics arnt translated well as someone tried to explain the poetry of the lyrics in every sentence instead of just simply translating the literal meaning of the words sung and therefore leaving it upto the viewer to realize/acknowledge the poetry.. hence in some places the subtitles were a bit biased leaning towards the translators’ understanding of the poetry behind the words.. the original literal translated subtitles should actually be shorter n simpler as the words spoken were moslty from simpler urdu. This problem seemed to have increased as the season progressed (it would even confuse a native urdu speaker if they tried reading such complex subtitles) :)
Once again, loved reaction from you guys: so professional and genuine
You guys have got to see 4th Impact's newly released music video, Here We Go!!! They wrote the song themselves and it is a real BANGER!!!!

Love pakistani music
Good
React to kaha jaun by bayaan
The lyrics are *slightly* doctored to translate them better, cause a direct translation wouldn't make as much sense to people who don't know Urdu, but there are some words in the language that would translate to multiple words in English, so the overall meaning is as you see in the translation, actually.
