The Cross that saves is Christ's Cross. His atonement is and was completely sufficient. We take hold of it by faith alone in Christ Alone. As a new creation, as born again children of God we must then live as such....but our salvation is not dependent on us! That's the great great news of the Biblical Gospel. If you ask, God will give you the strength and the faith. One of the fruits of the Spirit is faithfulness - this is an attribute of God (the Holy Spirit) and so it is not on us to bring faith from within ourselves but for us to pray to ask God to fill us with his faith, his divine persuasion. Same with strength, God says his power is made perfect in weakness and so St Paul says he will boast in his weaknesses because when we are weak, God is strong. If we could do it in our own strength we wouldn’t need God my friend! All He wants is for us to ask for his help and his grace, because he will never force his will upon us we must choose him freely. Choose to seek after God anyway, in spite of your weakness and in spite of the guilt and the shame and he will meet you where you are and uphold you with his righteous right hand.
9:50 "and (His) love is the reason we MUST take up our cross". I'd add........It is our experience of His AMAZING love that we willingly choose to repent, finding joy as we take up our cross". Romans 2:4. "God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance". Repentance.........turning away from the seductions of this world........is NO piece-a-cake. But we willingly surrender the desires of this world because we've truly and deeply experienced God's love.

Plenty of counterfeit spirituality in the ortho church too. People coming in just before communion, think that being part of the one true church is enough.

Father may God bless you however, the point of God in our lives is ultimately to live with him and through him. When you discount the benefits of God and don't recognize the weakness of man and the need for God's comfort and peace, you change your sermon. I would encourage you to redo this sermon. The reason being is God recognizes our weakness and our needs he says come to me and I will give you rest. You have it backwards. It's not God who needs us, but we need God because our very nature we are weak. Desiring God out of weakness, magnifies the Lord. Desiring God for his peace magnifies the Lord. Recognize that we are not at equal footing with God. He does not hate us, but it is. We need him to comfort us to help us through the trials and tribulations of life.

Naked and crucified in the Hell of this world, hounded by the darkness of evil, to a supernatural level, which only reenforces my conviction. Your sermon denies all the fruits of the holy Spirit, and unfortunately is inconsistent with our orthodox faith. Please rethink what you have said. I pray every day that God helps me get through the pain of life and gives me peace, my peace I give you is out of this world. Stillness through the Jesus, prayer and peace of mind knowing that you are with God is a benefit. The whole point of God is that he benefits man both here in this world and in the next. The sermon you gave Father is misleading and inconsistent with orthodoxy. In a way it takes away hope... and completely denies the fruits of the holy spirit... Remember the fruits of the holy spirit, father. Spirituality and its pure form is a union with God mind and body, the purpose of the union is to attain grace and peace. Now those individuals who have very high levels of spirituality will be tried more. However, the end result is the same the Lord ultimately grants them peace. If you remember Saint Anthony, the great, he was constantly under warfare to the point of beatings from Satan. He turned to God and God after a period of suffering alleviated his pain and restored his tranquility and peace the same as true for Saint Moses, the black. Makarous, the great dealt with spiritual warfare and turned to God, ultimately for protection and peace.The words of the Pharisees and the Sadduceess and the burdens they placed on man were heavily criticized by our king and God.
So what is the "simple" credible evidence that proves god is real? You can assert god is real, but until I see evidence to support your claim I am unconvinced. Good luck.

Unfortunately, the sermon discounts all of the benefits of spirituality in the strict sense and all of the fruits of the holy spirit. Remember, there is a season for everything under the sun. God does not expect you to suffer torment spiritually on a consistent basis rather he wants to shield you from the work of the enemy and give you peace. If you read the psalms time and time again, David is pleading with God for peace and time and time again the Lord granted it to him. He did not mean for us to live in pain. The very purpose of pain is to seek the face of God with all your heart, all your mind and all your strength. He will comfort you and provide you with peace and joy. Remember the fruits of the holy spirit, father. Spirituality and its pure form is a union with God mind and body, the purpose of the union is to attain grace and peace. Now those individuals who have very high levels of spirituality will be tried more. However, the end result is the same the Lord ultimately grants them peace. If you remember Saint Anthony, the great, he was constantly under warfare to the point of beatings from Satan. He turned to God and God after a period of suffering alleviated his pain and restored his tranquility and peace the same as true for Saint Moses, the black. Makarous, the great dealt with spiritual warfare and turned to God, ultimately for protection and peace.The words of the Pharisees and the Sadduceess and the burdens they placed on man were heavily criticized by our king and God.

@TboneWTF It depends on what you mean by evidence. There are many things that you can not measure, or at least physically prove because of the lack of emperical evidence. Such as conciousness, or even love. You can't measure it scientifically, but you can experience and feel it and that's all the evidence you need to know that it's real in the same way that you know God is real once you feel His presence and His love.
