I worked there in the 90’s. My husband who was the chef there has an office upstairs. It was always creepy upstairs. You couldn’t get me to leave the office and wander alone down those hallways.
My friends and I did an investigation there recently, because I asked the manager, and he said it was open for investigation. Just looking at the doors before I walked in at night sent chills up my back, got a lot of evidence there. You guys should check it out.
Richard Bruno hauptmann was my great great grandfather. He was innocent. We was getting gas that day and received the ransom money for change. My grandfather was allowed into the trial. My grandfather always believed it was Charles Lindbergh sister who killed the baby. She was upset she couldn't have a baby of her own and was sterile and also was very mental. Richard was very innocent!
holy crap this is literately down the street from me and i never knew this. this is awesome. like even 2day i peek into the windows and it just seems creeepy
When i first moved to Clinton in 2002 i went there often...the restaurant served great food and the bar was thriving.. I went there frequently and when i looked at the staircase there was always something creepy about that upstairs. it closed in Sept 2008. I heard all the paranormal stories...The night manager in office and having a paranormal experience, empty children's shoes walking up the stairs, Kids playing on the 3rd floor etc.
I've lived here since 1974 I rolled the roost hanging out in that hotel. 80's and on. I was allowed up stairs and in the cellar. I as a dedicated customer and friends with the whole staff only experienced one ghoastual thing. It scared me and the gal at the front desk. But nothing of the sort you tube saying on here. You wanna know stuff talk to us me! That went there every day. To eat drink and bring business to them.
Management/Ownership had switched off multiple times in the time since the Lindbergh Trial. Apparently, and I'm just repeating what was told to me, there were two men in the basement of Union Hotel, who were developing pictures taken from the trial. My understanding is that there was some kind of argument that escalated into a brawl, and either both, or at least one of the fighters, died from the fight. His ghost is still in the basement, and would have the same fight over and over again. They would store their wine and spirits in the basement, and waiters would go down frequently to get more bottles, only to find them broken. They were losing thousands of dollars in alcohol revenue. After a while, the owners couldn't recupe the losses. The young girl (Sara or Sally - can't remember) is still in the hotel, and she plays in both sides of the building. There are offices to the left - when you're facing it from the street - where the Main Street Revitalization Program held office, and to the left of that, there was a 1-woman operation run by a woman named Carol Nebiolo (sp?) who did freelance office work. My biological mother was the Program Manager for a while there, and I would assist both her and Carol with office jobs. We've all had experiences with the girl. The man/men in the basement, you could hear the smashing late at night. Great building for it's history, but unfortunately not much for dining anymore. It's a shame, their burgers were delicious!
I think I have been in almost every town in New Jersey. I had to go to Flemington and just seeing that building you know there is something not right with it.
I've heard that they were tearing the hotel down to build new stores. This was a while go though, but I'm still not sure about it. I really hope they don't.
@@Katiec6597 OK I guess that’s better than nothing. I saw where all the outlet stores were is going to be condos/townhouses. Used to shop there 20 years ago.
@@samanthab1923 I shopped there for christmas in 2021 I think. like the last time i did before moving west (moving back tho. ugh gonna suck. im sick of the changes. i miss my little old town vibes)
All the time both my cousins and my mother spent at the Unoin Hotel we never felt anything off. My Grandmother worked there in the early 1900s and said it was as normal as any hotel today (1980s) . I and my cousins feel the same today. Unfortunately the politics destroyed the whole town since the late 60s. My family goes back in the area before the Flemming's.
Mr. Moran, Your narration is very much like Ed Wood. I don't mean to say that is a bad thing for WNJ. Mr. Scureman is much more upbeat. You guys should switch depending on theme. Although, upbeat on macarbre works too.
Not fake, it's quite real. It's at the center of Main Street, literally across the street from the Flemington Courthouse. My mother was the Program Manager for the Main Street Revitalization program the town had, and was set up in the offices within Union Hotel. We've both had dealings with the little girl.
too bad that the "new owner" reneged on the deal... The borough is looking for a new developer yet again... This was all in the Democrate & being that some of you apparently live right here in Flemington, don't you read the local paper??

Just found a family connection to this landmark. Will share soon!

I worked there for about 6 months between 2000-2001. Not a week went by that someone didn't see something.
Marige OBrien really? Damn I'd like to hear some of those stories.
I used to live in flemington and everytime I went past the hotel it felt very creepy

Interesting video. Thanks for sharing!
There's a closed hotel like this in nearby Frenchtown. Wonder if that has any interesting stories...
2016? wow they must be doing the hotel over that place is so cool

my mom used to drink at the bar and she always wanted to go upstairs but they didn't allow anyone up there
Not yet, it says it will be officially opened up in 2016. My neighbor now owns that place

I used to live in Flemington that place IS creepy just to look at. its an actual bar and restaurant but VERY VERY expensive too rich for my blood
Lindberg was also an opponent of America's involvement in WWII before Pearl Harbor
Yep, they are fixing it up and I think extending it.
That hotel should reopen just for creepy sleepovers.
I wish!!

Just went by it the other day. I think the town is still trying to save it.
