Thanks Ashlee, this is what I need. My wrists and arms are not relaxed enough when I play. And, yes, like you said, that prevents me from playing expressively and effortlessly. I have been looking for the exercises to fix the problems. Thanks again for sharing your insights.
I just discovered Ashlee and already I have seen improvement. I will continue to watch her videos and HOPEFULLY will continue to learn. Thank you ashlee.
Thanks for this great video, I’m an adult learner who started 4 years ago and unfortunately I had a wrist injury from poor technique that plagued me for almost 2 years….I’ve only recently started using my left hand again and will incorporate these exercises into my daily practice! Love your straight, easy to understand style😉
Thanks for the kind words!! I’m so sorry to hear about your injury and I can empathize as I’ve also been injured at the piano before. I’m happy to hear you’re back at it :) let me know how the exercises go! And you’d probably get a lot out of the free Facebook group - seems like you’d be a good fit :) facebook.com/groups/casualtoconfidentpianoplayer
Just discovered this channel and it's like a goldmine. You are so clear in your teaching and your passion is contagious. I have been playing for just 18 days so far and I have been loving it. Can you maybe make a video, or a series of videos talking about some beginner Classical pieces from different eras. Maybe like a series of 5 videos and in each video, you talk about 5 and with each video, the peices get harder? Just a thought! Love your channel!
Oh yay!! Thanks for the kind words - I’m so happy you’re enjoying. That’s a really great idea for a video and I’m adding it to my idea list :) my process is to mull for a bit until it becomes fully developed. Stay tuned and thanks so much for the suggestion!!
You are very welcome! I’m glad to hear you like them. Biggest results with the simplest methods is one of the things I focus on. How long have you played?
I've seen a lot of these types of videos including a master class by Martha Taubman but for me I've found that it's really hard to avoid injuries on the piano if you're playing a lot! I have to play every day but I try to limit it to 3hrs & guitar 3hrs & the rest of time 👂 training! So the music can come through me! Anyway great lesson 🙏🙏🙏
@@AshleeYoungMusicStudio Yeah, when you complete the Masters program what that says about your "grit & determination" is not easily seen by first appearances! I recognize it because I share that outright devotion to the craft... as I get up 3:00 am in the morning to get the "edge" on my competition!!😂😂😂

I can’t believe how easy and important these exercises are and I’ve not seen anyone else promote them. Thanks for being a music maverick!
Haha you are so very welcome!! They are indeed important :)
Great practical video. Thank you.
Thank you. From a senior in North Carolina

Great exercises ! Thank you. As an older adult with arthritis I am always looking for exercises to stay loose.
I’m so glad you found them!!

Thanks so much! Yeah, I got a repetitive motion injury in grad school when I was doing 8 hours a day.

@@rogeralleyne9257 amazing!!! Hello to a fellow early practicer ;)
What about the Glenn Gould chair though? 🤣
Hahahhha oh my gosh!!! Whatever you do….DON’T model the chair after him!! 😂😂😂
Man she talks fast. I usually put videos like these at speed 1.5x but I've never had to put a video on 0.75x until now.
🙏🙏🙏
👍🏻
I blame Glenn Gould for my poor technique
