I hung up my Cruiser roller skates years ago. But the memories of roller skating to this song on a Saturday night with my old girl friend at the rink was one of the best times of my life. Sharing a pizza, fries, and root beer float led to a romantic walk home to her house carrying our skates and every once in awhile holding hands and looking at the stars. Among Patrick Hernandez’s musicians were James Stroud (drums) and Alan Feingold (keyboards). I wish Studio 54 was still open for the Justin Biebers and the Taylor Swifts so that they can enjoy some real music, like this song.
