- Obviously just because something is high calorie doesn't make it unhealthy. BUT...we should be able to eat a cheeseburger while on a diet. Well, now you can.

3 cheese ranch in everything, I completed your diet 👍
That will be $3,173.81
Thank you
My dyslexic ass thought that was what this would be. I'm disappointed now.
Also, I don't want him to start with healthy foods. I want him to take unhealthy foods and make them even less healthy.
I have dyslexia and I thought that’s what this video was💀

Josh..real talk. My wife recentlyhad breast cancers reconstruction surgery. She needs 100gr+ of protein per day. So thank you for this video. You are helping seriously ill people, not just foodies.
It's lovely that you take great care of your loved one. Wish your wife get well soon, have a nice day man!
Good on you brother God bless
May your wife's new girls be well, and you sir, your beer always cold.
I have watched a lot of fitness cooking type videos and this is the best type of healthy cooking video in my opinion. He doesn’t clickbait with absurdly low calorie numbers and he gives different options and disclaimers where I believe that these recipes are actually a good balance between taste and being macro friendly. I’ll definitely be trying some of these
We definitely need a "But Healthier" series for quick lunch and dinner ideas ❤❤
Look up Exercise 4 Cheat Meals, Joey Suggs and Remington James

@@alexr6527 nah, I just was a little bored
I would LOVE a "but healthier" series
Please !!!
Followup video idea, have Josh make the high and low calorie versions again and have the crew taste test between them to see if they can both differentiate between them and which ones they prefer. Not a "but better" vs a chain restaurant (because we all know Josh beats those with ease) but a Josh vs Josh challenge basically. A lot of the recipes looked really good, might try them out some time :)
Yes create a but healthier
So glad to see the Air Fryer getting some love!!! I've dropped roughly 50 lbs since July and the addition of the Air Fryer was paramount. I saw someone else comment it already, but I would support the hell out of a "But Healthier" series! 💪😤
I'm glad you are back to making slow and nice to follow videos again instead of the fast pased ''tik-tok friendly'' content. Thank you Josh :)
I don’t use Tik tok, is he on there?
either way max time in one tt is 30m
It's a little bit hard to follow, but deserve the attention.
I follow a lot of fitness style diet channels, and they always seem to target beginner style cooking audiences. I love watching any Josh Weissman recipe for techniques and other flavor ideas. I usually sub things for diet friendly options but it’s nice to see how Josh approaches them for example how he is handling the extra lean beef patty. Never would have thought of that.
Thanks for a great vid
Yeah most fitness channels tend to be very basic foods, something simple that most people can make without too much fuss.
But Josh’s recipes are for those that would be more ‘advanced’ in the kitchen. I appreciate both sides though. The fitness channels helped me to see that I could still make good food that is close in taste to the higher calorie ones but much better for you calorie wise and typically protein too. That’s what helped me to lose nearly 50 pounds.
This vid gives me better ideas especially since I consider myself a fairly decent cook.
I think these last two videos are Joshua's response to all the requests for healthy options. I would love for him to do more of these!
This should definitely be the theme of your next cookbook. Huge fan man! You’ve made my Thanksgiving ( I copied your whole video) and my Christmas( I did the deboned chicken thigh recipe from the cookbook) make me look like a seasoned chef.
I will get it!
I just want to give everyone general health tips! You can make easy changes like:
-switching to a diet soda/drinking more water
-walking at least 6 thousand steps(an hour of just walking while listening to music or a podcast)
-Find your calorie maintenance by looking up a maintenance calculator, then add 500 calories if you want to gain muscle, or subtract 500 if you want to lose weight, it’s the minimum required for weight loss.
-Eat clean and within your calorie limit for the week and at the end of the week you can have a cheat meal, for example a dinner or good lunch
-you want to focus more on protein intake(beef, chicken, Turkey, fish, shrimp, etc)
-Don’t remove your carbohydrates regardless what people say because this is what gives you energy
-Go for more volume food, like popcorn and carrots etc
-Egg white contain more protein than regular eggs, but less fats so do what you will.
-you can start the morning with a protein shake, or try not to eat in the morning, and wait until lunch
-Try sprints, for for all an all out run in 10-20 seconds, rest for 2 minutes, and go for 3 sets.
-Make sure to maximize your sleep, sleeping = not eating, not doing any bad habits.
@@MLGProMaster-tu9tzi think for a beginner going straight into a 500 calorie deficit is a bit much, i normally suggest starting with 200 then moving it up or down with whatever your goals are.
Hi Josh as a mom and grandma please stop using vegetable oil spray over and open flame, please
yeah his current cookbook is useless bc it’s not concerned with health
Yes! The key to changing your diet long term is to figure out how you can make small substitutions to get something that tastes nearly as good for significantly better macros!
BRUH!! This should be the focus of your next cookbook! Diet friendly food that actually tastes good! 😋
pls more health related Videos!
Your last few Videos in that regard really helped me loose some weight already - but while at the same time making fun to watch + motivating + fun to cook and taste/eat!

Greetings from Austria!
Hey, Josh. When I got diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, I went looking for some low-carb alternatives to some of the stuff I'd learned from your channel. For the fried chicken on that sando, you can sub almond flour for the AP. AP has like 60 something grams of carbs per cup. Another idea I tried and liked was crushed up pork rinds instead of the bread crumbs. It works. Give it a try.
Go watch Ken Berry type 2 diabetes
Give Indigo Nili's carnivore breading recipe a try. It'll shock you how good it is for low/no carb breading.
Substituting pork rinds sounds good
@@frustrateduser9933 Works great! I use it in my burgers and meatloaf.
From personal experience Switch your diet to keto or eat loads of protein you’d be surprised how much your life would change.
I'm not even on a diet but I just love watching this man cook n damn the food makes me feel hungry!

Great video Josh - I've always maintained that "by default" if you cook yourself it will end up healthier (within reason of course) and will never taste the same, buuuut it's usually great in a slightly different way. One thing I certainly find to be different is the way you feel afterwards - it's just less "heavy" and doesn't contribute to an urge to nap quite so much. Really appreciate the honest tasting notes.
I'd love to see a companion video about "healthier" choices when you do order fast food. There's loads of times I just can't be bothered making something - my energy, time and care-factor just don't always allow it.
Awesome video as usual Josh.
I am definitely going to try some of these recipes for sure.
I have yet to get your new cookbook, although I've been using the first one for a while now.
The only thing I wanted to mention, is if, for your macro calculations on how much liquid the bread absorbs (not as something to do every time) you could use a scale to weigh the liquid content before and after the bread absorbs it to find out metrically how much they hold.
Love this. I've been using these kind of tricks since I was in my late 20s (I'm 61 now). And we eat well, it doesn't have to taste bad, as you've clearly proven!
Joshua is an absolute legend for using imperial and metric units when it comes to his recipes, thanks my man
Josh! thank you! These are the videos that we need! Please keep sprinkling these in your content! You are my go to man for recipes and these are AMAZING.
Amazing transformations of harmful to healthy foods! I'm always in awe of how you think outside of the box to make these creative and nutritious changes possible.
My favorite take-away is that red sauce you made for the burger patties, around 17:35 or so. Can't wait to try it myself!
FINALLY!!!! That liquid mixture to add to the smash burger is genius and only something Josh could come up with. That’s why I need this man to make a “But Healthier” series!!!
Hear me out one for the breakfast sando though
I know I should be astounded at the beautiful creations that are diet friendly, and I am, but honestly I'm most impressed with the fact you know the difference between "less" and "fewer."
Bought both of your books. They’re really really good. Thank you for the love you put into your craft!
If you ever read this comment: would love a sea food focused section. I recently became allergic to most meat and so far haven’t found a situation when you can’t replace meat/chicken with shrimp, sea bass, tuna, or salmon. It’d be great to see a “sea food challenge” video where you cook meat substitutes and challenge people to guess what protein it is.
Appreciate the push to get people to understand that dieting doesn't have to mean cutting out everything you love, or eating something tasteless. Sure, it comes to being intentional on what you're making and we all know the 'real' stuff has a different flavor. But there is just something to be said for homecooked goodness (with some bulked up veggies) that goes a LONG way.
You can use Allulose instead of Sucrose (Sugar), because it behaves/tastes just like sugar but the body can't make use of it (because the molecule is a ring instead of a line, so there is no endpoint to break off the calorie), so its just taste without energy. Perfect for any diet including keto. You can even make caramel with it.
I would just have to say thank you for your videos because you did help me with a lot of my cooking especially my Chinese cooking. You explained a lot.
I really appreciate how down to earth you are, Josh. I mean, you aren't necessarily presenting the healthy options as the better ones, concerning the taste. I am also amazed by your vocabulary how to describe all the different aspects of the food *o*
Keep up the great healthier food content. It is awesome. Definetely going to try a few of these recipes.
Love the diet friendly/healthy version hacks. I hope we get some healthy baked goods too. Maybe adding applesauce as a fat replacement or something. A low carb low fat brownie would be great!
Best youtube viseo I've ever seen. I appreciate the REAL tips to making somwthing tasty and more healthy. The fake cheese, noodles, weird ingredients in most diet suggestions is maddening and makes a person just not want to bother trying to improvw their diet. The others miss the mark, but this was perfect!

As someone who follows a low carb lifestyle, I am accustomed to changing recipes to fit my diet and still taste as good (if not better) than the “original”. I applaud your efforts. Really gave me even more ideas. Especially the quesadillas.

Hi food lover ❤
Please do a "But low-carb" series. I am a type 2 diabetic, and I would love to see how creative you could get (and would be ever so grateful for something other than Pho with shiritaki noodles).
Thank you for sharing delicious dishes.
Can you do a video for veganuary with some nice plant based dishes? Would love to see that☺️🥦
You should make more of these healthier videos ❤❤❤
incredible video! Super helpful!!! Thanks Josh! Can you do a what I eat in a day whilst on a diet?
love the video! a big problem for me is that it sucks cooking for every meal especially when you have a very busy schedule. Would love to see a video in this style that covers foods you can prep for the week to come 😁
Not to be that girl but Brian Lagerstrom has a good meal prep video! I think one thing that can limit Josh’s engagement with healthy meal prep is the lack of veg in recipes. I’ve lost weight just by halving the portion of anything I wanted to eat and adding unlimited veg with it (so much steamed brocoli….)
A crockpot really helps with making large meals especially soup or slow cooked meat. I freeze my beans, avocado, and cheese by portions in plastic bags for burritos. I make eggs hardboiled for several days in the fridge still in the shell. Egg salad could be frozen. I typically eat one meal a day so I just eat until not hungry.
Now Josh needs to make a but healthier cookbook
We need more of these types of videos!
Great stuff for folks who are looking to actually lose weight. Phenomenal for those who already workout but don't know much about macros. ❤

Hilarious list. Fats are better for energy, and that's how we evolved for millions of years.
> calorie limit
This is how I know not to trust your list. People have been slim and fit for thousands of years before calories were invented.

HERE ME OUT!! Now i know it changes the macros but...with the peanut noodles, add a tiny bit of regular peanut butter to the peanut butter powder sauce, will give you a closer taste/creaminess 👌
I always find in the type of recipes that are lower fat and what not. There's always wiggle room. A tiny bit of butter in a pan browned can make all the difference in flavor.
Not gonna lie. This looks amazing and my fiance got me both books for Christmas. I'm looking forward to reading them and trying as many recipes as possible.
Sunny side up not over easy, but good video! I appreciate the uncompromising approach to flavor, regardless of constraints.
Just a small note for some viewers, switching the protein to turkey or fish can also help a ton in terms of calories as well.
I mean it's healthier than the original fast food, but most home cooking is better than those options anyways. Definitely adding some extras to elevate the home cooking which is appreciated. Save 200-500 calories on the main and get some veggie side dishes to fill me up and come out fuller and lower overall calories. As a diabetic, I do have to stay under a certain amount of carbs per meal so im stuck with the low carb alternatives for bread/tortilla options. 😂
Loving this new series ❤

The higher carb meals you have here are particularly well suited to eat around your training window. 1-2 hours before (depending on the amount of fat in the meal as well) or just whenever for your postworkout meal :)

Unless you have leftover egg whites please use whole eggs. Yolks are good for you even though they contain some fat. Substituting them for cheese seems to me like not a good idea from a dietary standpoint. I don't see why you can't have both in a different proportion.
Yeah you can definitely just skip the cheese, that could also allow you to add something a little more fatty to compensate for the leaner meat.
I would rather eat 30% less, than use low fat products.

24:00 beef shank is underrated as hell ok you need to cook it for long time to be tender but it's very tasty and hard to overcook
Here's a little interesting info bit about macronutrients. As a diabetic I have to be mindful of what I eat. And that means no excessive amounts of carbs. So how do I get a meal that is filling? Fats, but I also make sure to get those slow carbs. Aka whole grain type of stuff. Now to add another problem for me, I happen to have gout. So that means I can't eat too much protein from specifically red meats. I still do but that comes with the risk of developing needle sharp crystals in my ankle joints. So my diet ends up being a weird balance of protein, fats and carbs from carefully select sources. Good thing I like beans and legumes 😂
Fat is not the problem, Carbs in general and sugar more specifically is the real problem. We’ve been taught (indoctrinated) in our youth in a dishonest way.
While true, the problem with fat is how high calorie it is (like for real, 9kcal per gram, wtf?). If your focus is to fit back on calories specifically, cutting out large amounts of fat is a one (somewhat) easy way to do it
Calories in calories out
None of nutrients are the problem. Calories in calories out is the only problem.
Great video but honestly if you want to be healthier eliminate or reduce the carbs and sugars and add good fats like avocados (and cook with avocado oil for that matter). Eliminated the buns and keep the yokes. Your body needs these fats to absorb vitamins and nutrients. Also don’t buy processed foods that’s are “low fat”. These do more harm than good
This is true I did it a few years ago lost 50lbs, more people should know
I have laughed so much I ended up wheezing and this is a cooking video, 10/10 need more
Dude make this a series ASAP.
I miss the recipes, this new content just feels like clickbait.
oh buddy. your idea of healthy is very 90's. Higher fat, is good. Low fat is bad. Higher protein good 👍 Calorie counting is an antequated model for weight loss. Higher quality fat. Higher quality protein. Low sugar. Low fat is HIGHER sugar and it's awful for baking. I had to throw this out there just once.
Wrong.
Calories in calories out.
Something I've come to find is that even if you don't go the full length of this video to replace lots of ingredients and such, you can still make the same foods significantly healthier by literally just making it yourself. Just cutting out the mass-manufacturing, preservatives, and all the fat piled on to add taste to low-quality ingredients that goes into fast food; it's a surprisingly huge difference.
Today I made the burgers and the tacos and MY GOD sir you deserve a medal. Both delicious and neither tasted like diet food.
