Just goes to show how thirsty the world is for music when some idiot whose sole inspiration is sausage rolls seems to hold the heavyweight belt for most #1 xmas singles. How pathetic have we become as a species.... Beatles for the win.
It's completely beyond me why they didn't pair "Now & Then" with (or haven't previously released) their amazing, rarely-heard Christmas songs. To my knowledge, only an edit of the repetitive "Christmastime Is Here Again" has ever turned up on a commercial Beatles release. To hear how the gorgeous but fragmentary fan club tunettes could've been used to turn "N&T" into a guaranteed #1 Xmas double A-side single, listen to the RUclips post entitled "Beatles Christmas Supermash" -- it's fully Fab-worthy fare!
The song had the most unusual chart action in the US. On the Billboard Hot 100, it debuted number 7 and then fell completely out of the top 40 the next week. The reason for that is because everybody who wanted the single bought it immediately. It's sold so fast that everybody owned it right away so it fell out of the charts. That's what happened to a lot of their earlier singles. They sold so quickly that they just shot up into the charts and then fell out. It debuted at number one on the downloads, 19000 units at the moment of release. I'm just happy to see them have another top 10 hit in 2023. Great upload, thanks for sharing!

And I’m totally sure they will accomplish it, no doubt

THAT is only part of the reason. Single sales are only 50% of the chart. The other 50% is airplay (radio + streaming)
