I’d say it’s okay to pick one or two up at a slightly elevated price if the watch speaks to you. Going back to collect them all, yes there is a risk of overpaying.
I got into watches in 2019 and I’ve never understood the draw to the skx since it’s been discontinued. I get that it used to be the best bang for your buck dive watch but there are so many cheaper and better options from seiko available today. I’m wearing a mini turtle as I write this and love it.
Same sentiment, it is absurdly priced now, and actually much more expensive than a mini turtle. I kinda miss the mini turtle, is yours the japan version or the previous one?
Picked up both the SARB 33 and 35, the SKX Pepsi and the 017 Alpinist right around the time there were rumors that those models were being discontinued. That’s the key-Seiko says nothing but staying in the watch community loop/forums is important as they are a reliable source of information.
Hey Kirby, I have carefully picked up some pieces that I am sure they will pay me back in case I decide to liquidate them. Of course I am not going to do that, just saying 😊. Such an example is the Seiko turtle SBDY015, a JDM model with a Kanji day wheel!
That’s a great watch. I used to have one and I kinda regret selling it. Two JDM turtles to be exact the SRP775J included. Some watches are just worth it no matter what the price. 😁
I own 15 Seiko’s two dress sport watches and the rest all divers . I recently purchased a new old stock SKX011J1 Orange 🍊 boy from Creation Watches for just under $500 and couldn’t be happier. Some might say I’m crazy for spending that much on a older discontinued Seiko but honestly I’d rather over pay a little for a iconic legendary Seiko than pay a premium price for the newer Seiko’s that are $1,200-$1,500 and up . To me the price of the 😮newer Seiko’s is more ridiculous than what the prices are for older or vintage models.
The skx011 is a rare find esp NOS! I also saw one in my country selling around the same price you mentioned. Despite the price to value ratio, it is hard to justify, however, you, I and other Seikoholics don't apply to this category, we buy it because we love these Seiko's. Maybe to the new collectors, a heads up on a potential money pit ahead. 😁
One need to understand different taste in watches. telling the time with day date , moonphase , small second hand , chronograph auto or manual ,military or etc....., Dive, Just waterproof.... tour Billion ..... 1 2 3 axial . Know the Calibre , beat , all synthetic jewels and hours etc...., then forget Brands, those who have more Money go for high end to please whatever one feels. All need services after a few years . calibre base is from Brass and brand use some parts silver or rose gold. casing for deep Dive is More thick etc...... Enjoy what pleases you.

Couldn't agree more. As long as it isn't a delusional price. It's worth getting it.
I love Seiko ❤. I found a pristine gen 1 skx779 a couple years ago for $250. Absolutely stunning watch! Great video 🔥🔥
Thanks!
That's a good looking spork you've got there! 👌Now I regret selling my 1st gen orange monster 😅
Thanks man! 👍Haha. Good thing 1st gen orange monsters are still more common than their successors.

watchcharts, Just search it at google.
@@KirbyYoung Excellent. Thanks
i only ever set the time of my watches with the seconds hand at 12, when you set the spb143 it triggered me. just a little twitch.
I do it like that too
I only set it like that for the video, but when I align it with the atomic clock, I do that too.

Lucky guy. Great timing on getting those, they are beginning/already to be one of those modern classic Seiko’s. They are secretive indeed
I need a Spork!
Hope you can get one soon! It is a gem.

@@KirbyYoung yes a money 💰 pit indeed lol 😂. I’ve definitely put the brakes on any future purchases for the moment 👍🏻

Selling a SRPC07 - Orange Samurai (shoot my shot here)
🔥
this fomo why they are unreasonability priced, supply and demand.
Just buy a homage of the old Seikos. Heimdallr make them
Not the same
@@Chris-de2qci agree.. those will probably be aligned and have a better bracelet, who wants that?
Yeah to the beginner collectors, just dont…. 😅
The Chinese have upped their game now and make better watches for a great price. And things line up.
Sounds about right, Seagull chronograph look nice!
