Singapore has a high population of Chinese, over 70%, yet with the foresight of the then PM LKY, English was made the learning medium, not Chinese. Singapore students also need to take a compulsory mother tongue as a second language (either Chinese, Malay, Tamil, depending on their race). It would be wise to learn from Singapore.

    • @onlinevoice195
      @onlinevoice195 3 года назад +10

In addition, by making a neutral language ( English) as a learning/education language, it is very fair for everyone in Singapore or any non English speaking country.
However, by making bahasa melayu as a learning/education language in Malaysia, it is not fair to the high percentage of non malays. It also removes Malaysia from its competitors from the English speaking world. In fact, many English speaking countries are learning Mandarin because they want to be part of the huge Chinese business Market.

      @@marianiomar8376 agree with you.
But as an Indian I can assure you that the voices demanding this and that for and by the indians did not come from the representatives of our ethnicity.
Matter of fact, we hardly knew many of these NGOs and characters who were suddenly speaking on our behalf.
I am not going to deny there were unreaaonable voices from our midst. Matter of fact, we can identify a few. The vocal lawyer who claimed to be the champion of Tamil Schools in the issue of khat? He wasnt even involved in Tamil schools up until than.
Unlike the Chinese schools whose sole spokesperson os Dong Zhong, the Tamil schools do not have such a central body hence we could say shady characters self appointed themselves as its spokesperson.
But than there were this other more shadowy group.
They all claimed to be NGOs but no one among the Indians knew any of them. They wwre social media savvy and their calls to gather to show solidarity or protest was synced with fundraising via social media. The fund raising was also expertly rolled out when they were called to give a statement at the police station.
Than there was the LTTE scam, which on the surface looked like another donation scam.
Finally there was the zakir naik issue. These agitators would have easily collected 5 figures on that one issue alone.
But this is where I believe to dismiss these people as extremist, racist or ethno supremacist is erronous.
The aggitation via whatsapp was brought to a fever pitch at the same time the call to donate what little one could do "organise" a demo in Brickfields on the twin issue of Khat and Zakir Naik suddenly took an unexpected turn.
The main organising individual released a statement claiming he is calling off the demo/protest a few days before the chosen date after Anwar Ibrahim had called him and he was given some assurance.
Even Anwar Ibrahim only found out three days later of the purpoted call which he had no idea about.
Just like that, the NGO, the donations and the activist disappeared.
Khat and Zakir was no longer an issue.
The same uncanny and very unlikely set of circumstances that cannot be dismissed as uncorrolated coincidences can be seen in the temple riots which claimed the life of a young fireman, arwah Adib.
The date where a gang of thugs had picked to demolish the temple just happened to be a very rare occasion where hindus have prayers at 4am in the morning. Dsily prayers are at sunrise and not a minute before.
Secondly, anyone who attends temple prayers regularly will tell you the likelyhood of middle aged men attending prayers at 4 am is not the norm. Definitely not at that temple.
It just happened that the "defenders" of the temple just happened to be there that day. I know some of them, I can assure you they are not the praying kind.
Finally the very first 2 dramatic whatsapp video that went viral at 4 plus am claiming the malays were attacking the indians and demolishing the temple?
Well the first video was taken while the guy in the video was seated inside his car. He wasnt in the temple but waiting inside a car. The second video shortly afterwards was shot outside the car but not inaide the temple.
He ended the video by shouting this is what you get for votting PH. The guy in the video is a well known MIC opperative.
Some of the most vocal voices egging the Indians to take to the streets on various issues came from known MIC operatives including Datuk Saravanan.
What I learnt from that 22 months was the non Malays were duped into assuming that whenever people like Datuk Jamal Yunos or Papagomo represented the sentiments, voice and opinion of an entire race when they made statements or even pulled public stunts.
Just like how the malays thought these NGOs and Voices represented the entire Indian community.
We dont even know who gave them the mabdate and authority to speak on our behalf.

      @theallseeingeye9388 3 года назад +2

The ICERD issue was another clear example of shadowy figures making moves behind the scenes.
There was a panel of experts who had beaten the AGs office on advising certain royals on what is ICERD and what are the local consequencea by rattifying ICERD.
Usaha mengulingkan peranan Raja dan Sultan was one of the propaganda points. Along with the story that the rulers could be extradited if they were wanted by an overseas court of law.
The implied message was PH was activrly trying to overthrow the monarchy.
To date, ask the layman what does ICERD mean when he mentions ICERD, and you will hear all kind of answers, none of them even remotely close to the facts.

The education is so bad that a student in the government school can pass with 6marks. You want to upgrade any nationality, they have to fight for whatever want. You give everything on a silver platter, they perform badly not only in their studies but also since they are the future leaders, they will adminster below par. Conclusion, you don't get any able young leaders to run this country. If you are spoonnfed, you expect to be spoonfed all your life. Outcome, you become a kleptokrat, where you use other people's brain to become rich.

If Malaysia is serious to form unity and plural society, one of the key issues is religious freedom. Look at Malaysia, Islam practiced here is very autocratic and being given too much power. We cannot exchange our beliefs and faiths for fear of being arrested but they can openly impose theirs on us and even criticize us as deviant. Government seem happy with this. You expect unity if there is such ridiculous law where a single religion is the center of everyone? While many people blame politicians dividing people, the law and religion itself already divides the society: Muslims and non Muslims. The thinking that: I am superior and you are inferior, I will go to heaven you will be burnt in hell. This is disgusting!

Spot on. Remove race and religion in politics, or at least make sure there is a mix of races in the political team like in Singapore. Also women should also be included in the political team.

National schools have slowly morphed into Islamic schools where emphasis is always on Islam, Islam nothing but Islam. In fact, STEM subjects are not given priorities in national schools. That is why Chinese parents do not want to send their children to National Schools. RealChunWai has missed this point when discussing with Yusuf Hashim about the weakness of national schools where the Islamic religious studies and practices are given top priorities. In fact, in recent years, science labs have been dismantled in national schools. In reality, Malay students may not want to mix with non-Malay students because of the halal/haram issues even though they are in the same national schools sitting side by side. Wahhabism influences are very strong in Malay muslim in Malaysia.

At the end of the day , fear mongering created in the name of religion and race has created a lot unnecessary segregation. Progress can happen but only with the abolishment of outdated policies … In 1994 , I stood in line with my dad to buy a house … at that time the good lots were taken up because they had a bumiputera launch in the morning and for the rest of us … it was in the afternoon. Most of us were dismayed…. Things have changed a little but there still is a lot that needs to be changed. Why should I be paying 10 to 15 percent more for a house today when my earning power is the same as that of a bumiputera ?
