The beautiful aspect of this video, is it reveals how white artists, considered it an enormous privilege to perform with the amazing African American artists evolving with the new, very exciting Soul Genre., in the 70s. It's not a competition - it's a very courageous, expression of respect. AND WILSON LOVED IT!!!!! A fabulous video.

@@Kget2knowme Yes!! And I adore them all. They are legends. And it’s kind of disheartening to see the people on here criticizing and rating this performance like it’s a competition. Those people probably have no idea that these three are some of the only blue eyed soul artists to always pay *full* deference and reverence to the black artists who inspired them. When they were all of seven and eight years old there they are onstage performing and taking pics with the biggest black harmonizing groups in the world. While they were TEENAGERS they wrote “To Love Somebody”. For OTIS REDDING. 😱 It is one of if not THE the most covered soul song in history. Hundreds of soul artists covered it. But yet they all say the Bee Gees version remains the best. 🤷🏽‍♀️ These boys are no joke, they are songwriting and harmonizing legends. And *that* is why none other than Wilson Pickett invited them onstage to cut loose with him. Wilson Pickett ain’t no fool. 😏

For you youngins out there - This performance was on a show called "The Midnight Special" in 1973. The man at the very end was a well-loved, nationally known disc jockey named Wolfman Jack. And this was not a soul competition, this was a performance by two musical geniuses, Barry Gibb and Wilson Pickett. Whoever thought of putting these two on the same stage performing this song was a genius too. Wilson and Barry do a way better job on this song than the Beatles ever did. And to those who are ragging on Barry's singing, that man has more soul and heart in his little finger than YOU will ever have.

@proudgram61 Yes, I love the Bee Gees so much ESPECIALLY Robin, but he dances like a puppet on strings! But you know they had to be so naturally high from this experience - can you imagine being on the same stage with Wilson Pickett of all people singing Paul McCartney? What beautiful times....(sniff)

@@allymayful Wilson called them on stage. Which I thought was so nice of him. The Bee Gees was so versatile this is why they lasted for decades. Have u seen the one with Chuck Barry and The Bee Gees on stage singing Johnny B Good? That video is on here as well. It was also good they made so many appearances on the midnight special show. Thank goodness for RUclips.
