  • today I am setting up my 75 gallon turtle tank again...and hopefully for the final time! This tank is home to my painted turtle, Nemo, and some fish. A few details about this tank -
75 Gallons, reef(?) tank dimensions (wider not longer) - approx. 36x24x20
Filtered with Fluval FX4 and Ziss Bubble Bio Filter
Heated with Fluval M 300 watt (looking to upgrade this to a non-glass heater since it has already been knocked over once and is making me nervous!)
DIY above tank basking area with heat and uvb lights
    Lighted with Finnex Stingray 35"

Huge thanks to all my current patrons for allowing this channel to be the best it can be!

The habitat you've created is is very interesting. At first glance is simply a few rocks and pieces of drift wood. But the way you arranged the wood and rocks provides a complex environment for your turtle to interact with. More importantly, it is very pleasing to the eye.

Heyy 👋🏼 I’ve been watching all your videos for about a year and half now. I really enjoy them and they have taught me a lot and the result was a healthy red eared slider turtle her name is Wasabi :). Sooo you said that Nemo picks at the fish, from my research and experience tiger barbs and rosy barbs mix really well with Wasabi they are too fast for her to catch and throughout this year and a half she only managed 2 eat 2 out of the 10 in the tank. And in her defense they were duds lol but yeah just wanted to tell you that. I look forward to seeing more videos !

My turtle eats live plants too usually but I've put Marimo moss balls into his tank since turtles seem to not like their taste and they help maintain the water quality pretty well I think, my ammonia and nitrite level is at 0 and my nitrate level is around 10ppm. You can get them off Amazon and they might make vacuuming your tank a little more difficult but it may be worth it

Your turtle can absolutely lay eggs even if it has no mate, they just won't be fertilized. If you don't give her an area to lay eggs, she can become eggbound, which is deadly. I've been recommended an above-tank basking platform filled with play sand, though I haven't researched to confirm if that's the best.

We recently found a turtle in our drive way. He is really tiny ( size of a munchkin you would get from Dunkin Donuts) so, we decided to take him in till he gets stronger. We live near a pond so we are going to take him there soon. He's doing well but he's very shy. He is eat but very discreetly swell. We created a tiny shelter but thing too fancy. He is a painted turtle. He is also shedding a bit. Anyone have some advice? Much appreciated!

Why not keeping it forever? It is a great pet. Also, if it gets used to be fed and taken care of, it wont survive on its on if you set him free later.
      I would keep it

Enjoyed your content over the past couple days. I'm new to turtles so they have been very helpful in my research. Buy just one piece of advice. Little too much hand clapping! For those of us with headphones on, it's a wee bit too loud
