I wanna point out a trick nobody seems to notice: Your heals on Raw Intuition/Bloodwhetting are autocrits too when you use your Infuriate special attacks
I don't know if this makes much difference above level 70, but at least at level 70, I've noticed that I can use Inner Release quite early and still hold on to Fell Cleave stacks until after Storm's Eye. This is unlike Berserk where the next three gcds spend the three stacks. The only reason I would see Inner Release be delayed a little is if I expect an incoming debuff just beyond the first 15-16s of combat.
I dunno if I'd agree with conal AoE being superior to circular AoE for Overwhelm. Of course I got used to it as I leveled, but I much preferred the other tanks' circular AoE attacks more than the cone, and never thought it synergized well with Mythril Tempest, since Tempest is a circular combo action. I understand if you prefer The Dreaded Cone™ instead, there is something to be said about always being ahead of a pack rather than dead set in the middle of it.
Turn Tempest into a cone then. Due to how geometry tends to work out, a wide cone often ends up being effectively bigger even if the area is smaller. The range of overpower made it amazing for hit and run in wall to wall pulls. Instead of having to tomahawk because enemies were spread apart too far for a circle, you'd just Overpower and keep running. Picking the furthest enemy, you'd hit all of them. It makes sense for all your aoe to be the same shape, but as a DRG main I've become extremely proficient at aiming lines and cones. And also as you say, it is good when you are NOT in the middle of enemies for safety. On top of: Its better tanking. Even with PLD/etc needing to be in the middle of enemies to maximize AoE, you want you group up the enemies first do they're a tight pack. This is a key step a LOT of players miss with tunneling into "I want enemies all around me." So not only could cones hit more enemies, you and your entire party would hit more enemies because of better corralling.
@@WeskAlber I hadn't even thought of changing Tempest, that would have been a great idea. If OP & MT were both conal, there would be such less confusion about AoE; all you'd have to do is ask yourself if you were playing as WAR, and always know to position yourself ahead of a pack if the answer was yes. Only times to break that new rule would be for the AoE gauge spenders, which generally have a long enough radius to hit most mobs you already covered with your normal cones. As it is, Square have already thrown themselves in with the Circle gang, so c'est la vie. Remember when Rockbiter was a cone? I don't remember the day it changed, but I was so relieved to see it become a circle to synergize better with Arm of the Destroyer and Fourfold Fury. This was closer to the days when One-Ilm Punch existed, which I now must remember One-Ilm Punch existed. Monk AoE was interesting back then. Anyway, thank you for the new guide. I'll be sure to take it to heart when I pick Warrior back up, after I'm done leveling other jobs or just feel like going ape.
I also miss the Cone AoE of Warrior. I personally wish they changed all their AoE attacks into cones so they all matched. Plus, it would give Warrior a bit more identity amongst the Tanks.

15:38 Is no one going to mention the fact Arm's Length doesn't work with Vengeance active? Warrior is the third tank I'm leveling to 90 and felt something was off about it for a while before noticing my arm's length was straight up not applying the slow to enemies. I never had this problem with other tanks using the 30% DR cooldown plus arm's length together, but since I guess Vengeance has the added effect of causing spike damage, it doesn't apply the slow from arm's length? Even Google searching this bug I literally only found one thread talking about it.
...yeah this is probably the most specific skill interaction I have ever heard of. I'm going to test it out tomorrow, report it anyway, but this might not be a bug.
My theory is Vengeance is coded at higher priority, because some engine limitation means there's only one possible Reflect up at a time. Order of pressing them does not seem to matter. It's definitely something to do purely with the reflect, as you can still ignore Knockbacks with Arm's.
I had a warrior in a dungeon over the weekend who embraced the caveman part a bit too hard. He died twice right away in the 85 dungeon. When I asked why he didn’t use mitigation, I kid you not, he replied, “What’s mitigation?” I noped out of there. I can use every heal in my kit as a Regen healer, but If you’re doing wall to wall with no mitigation, I can’t keep you alive
So what do you do after the opener? Does it loop or do you just spam combos until you generate enough to fell cleave while you wait for your cooldowns to come back?

@@BionicLatino See, I found it had the opposite effect, particularly when trying to line it up so Mythril Tempest/Chaotic Cyclone/Decimate would hit all the same targets. Now that they're all the same AOE I don't have to worry about that as much once a pull is done. Also it made me feel like I had to move around in the middle of a mob pull to make sure it was all lined up, which I'm sure drove melee DPS crazy.
@@CanisMythson I guess I’m picturing the way I’d put my back against the wall and have the mob all facing me. That way my team had the rear and sides to go crazy on and it was easy to see if an enemy was missed.
I feel shake it off could have gotten a better explanation by mentioning that you can line up all 3 buffs like you would ogc'ds in an opener to all expire at the same second, and then consume them all for an extra 6% shield for trash pulls, which also enourages using your tank cd's
Encourages to use them poorly. Raw Intuition in trash should almost never be paired with any other CDs besides Holmgang, in the method I lay out. Using anything more than RI by itself is over-mitigating due to it being several seconds of infinite healing. And you're also likely too busy trying to dodge enemy attacks to keep track of timers to the second. It is very hard to have such a precise level of planning in trash, especially due to time to kill. Boss fights usually have the same rotations no matter how good your team is. It very much is an effect made for boss CD planning, especially in the high end.
Yes, Primal Rend gapclosing can be accidentaly useful. But can also accidentaly screw you up big time. Like when uhm... "my FRIEND" used Primal Rend in P3S just as the big add was dashing away to the other side. Looked hilarious as my uhhh his WAR flew across the arena, but alas it didn't end well. :')
Is there a place to learn the optimum lvl 70 and 80 rotations, for like ultimates, ik for a few jobs the rotations don’t rlly change that much after 70 but would be nice to check, Ty for the video
Another great guide, Wesk - thank you very much for all your effort and hard work, these guides are gold. Looking forward to the DRK. Thanks again, mate.
While warriors have the simplest offensive rotation, it has by far the highest skill ceiling defensive as imo, it has the most interesting defensives which interact so complexely with each other.
Would give that to DRK personally: Dark Mind is magic only making you need to try and watch for anything magic. TBN is amazing but the cost to entry requires gauge management Oblation is nice but isn't as stupid ridiculous as every other job's additions. Before they made LD easier to use (which as we saw with Kaiten, easier is objectively worse in every way) that was a big communication point
@@WeskAlber I would agree that the dark knight his a higher skill floor on tbn and dark mind, however i think warrior can go a bit further than just flat mitigation or shielding. Example: Heavy Hand comes up, i can do Thrill + Blood to survive and get to full if i have a 2 guaraneed heal crit's lined up or i can use Vengance + Bloodwhetting if i can eat the defensives later on Shake it off to shield a Raid-wide if thirll wouldn't last long enough. On dark knight it's just, Rampart/Oblation + TBN, add a missionary if it covers the Raid-wide after and that's it. I find the way warrior mitigates through healing itself after the hit more interesting, but hey that's my opinion, everyone has their own and who am i to tell people that they should think like me. Ps: Your vids helped me learn how to play dps and for that thanks, have a grat day :)
If you have a IC/delay a Primal Rend (if its a raidbuff free one) you can guarantee about 60% health from the 2 crit heals alone. The thrill allows you to survive the buster (for some reason it doesn't buff Bloodwhetting heals) if you combine it with bloodwhetting. Then you heal 3 times after the hit and if you are at 80% health (remember your temporary max hp will fall off) you will be full after the thrill ends.
@@WeskAlber I would still say you need more thought into getting the most out of your skills with WAR. It mainly comes down to ability combinations. Since most other classes have just one version of % damage mitigation and occasionally a heal or shield mixed in. This leaves mostly just one way of combining skills. The more defensives you stack, the worse of you are since it's diminishing returns. There are very few exceptions. For DRK it is TBN which is just a shield defensively. For PLD it is Holy sheltron (the healing part), Divine Veil? (Sort of), and special mention to intervention and cover. For GNB, you have the healing (excog) part of HoC, and Aurora (debatable since regen). Every other ability becomes worse off when used together with other abilities. For WAR, First of all, you have the most diverse set of defensives. You have a HP increase and Healing buff in Thrill of battle, a heal and regen in equilibrium, a lifesteal in Bloodwhetting, shield in shake it off and bloodwhetting, and even the 30% damage mit skill which other tanks have a version of, Vengeance, has a thorns effect on it. These skills interact in very interesting and mutually beneficial ways. Shields benefit from HP increase since higher HP means better shield, HP increase also increases in effectiveness when you have damage mit like a shield. This leads to you having a ton a great combos. Bloodwhetting + Vengeance is great. Any ability + Thrill is great. Equilibrium is great when paired up with any other damage mit too since if you use up the damage healed when under damage mitigation, it is effectively equivalent to a bigger heal and for the same reason the lifesteal of bloodwhetting pairs up well with other damage mit too (not to mention the shield). Thrill + Equilibrium is great too since Healing buff. The multiple small intricacies of Shake it Off when paired up with other skills. On a small sidenote, I've noticed that the bloodwhetting shield is usually around a 10% shield so Shake it Off + Bloodwhetting (in that order) is roughly equivalent to a TBN with other benefits. All this leads to WAR being the most interesting to play defensively imo. P.S. I honestly really love the LD changes. I think it's the most interesting invuln now. I like how it is almost more than a 10s invuln since the 10s starts from when you actually hit 1hp now. You can pop it earlier than other invulns without consequences.
I don't get the lvl 50 opener: inner beast is a 330 potency while storm's path is a 380 potency, wouldn't it be better to use a berserk on storm's path since it's stronger?
Anyone else like watching these for fun, for me it's really cool to see how all the classes work in this kind of format. Thanks so much for the videos!

Hey Wesk! Fantastic works again! Can you please link your glam??

Levelling 1-100 Warrior and Dark knight when?
@@Flummoxy neither of them received major changes this will work to 90
@WeskAlber Thank you for the reply! I've just started my warrior grind so your guide is always on my second monitor 😂👌
About to start levelling up a tank class for the first time hehe, would a Warrior or a Paladin be easier to start with?
Warrior because of Raw Intuition
@@WeskAlber Thanks so much!!
CHAOS
Yes, Primal Rend gapclosing can be accidentaly useful. But can also accidentaly screw you up big time. Like when uhm... "my FRIEND" used Primal Rend in P3S just as the big add was dashing away to the other side. Looked hilarious as my uhhh his WAR flew across the arena, but alas it didn't end well. :')
Im gonna kill CHAOS using my inner CHAOS
I’ll miss you, Good Overpower.
God I love these videos
Is there a place to learn the optimum lvl 70 and 80 rotations, for like ultimates, ik for a few jobs the rotations don’t rlly change that much after 70 but would be nice to check, Ty for the video
Balance usually has BiS for Ults and such info
@@WeskAlber thank you
Chaos!
It's finally unga bunga time from Wesk!
The craziest part. All this rage and insanity and critical hit madness gives you just enough DPS to out damage a WHM. 😃
If GNB is the blue dps WAR is the blue healer
You like saying the word CHAOS don't you?
It's like Jimmy Valmer and Kat Callaghan had a baby

Another great guide, Wesk - thank you very much for all your effort and hard work, these guides are gold. Looking forward to the DRK. Thanks again, mate.
While warriors have the simplest offensive rotation, it has by far the highest skill ceiling defensive as imo, it has the most interesting defensives which interact so complexely with each other.
Would give that to DRK personally:
Dark Mind is magic only making you need to try and watch for anything magic.
TBN is amazing but the cost to entry requires gauge management
Oblation is nice but isn't as stupid ridiculous as every other job's additions.
Oh you mean hit bloodwhetting and/or thrill and equilibrium to completely heal yourself? Gosh that sounds so hard lmao.
37:28 Exactly how I felt once I hit that level 😂
hmm, rages, hits people with chainsaws and heals when doing so.
*cue kick back*
Does upheaval consume a stack of berserk?
Berserk only affects weaponskills, abilities like Upheavel are not affected and don't consume stacks.
Inner chaos
I don't get the lvl 50 opener: inner beast is a 330 potency while storm's path is a 380 potency, wouldn't it be better to use a berserk on storm's path since it's stronger?
what? that's exactly what happens
you keep saying Yalms for distance units... are you sure it isn't supposed to be yards?
Nope! Yalms
