Funny thing, i'm actually relocating to salt lake, good to see i can get into the local ponds after work and drown some flies. thanks guys for the vidya
When you fish big lakes how long of leader and tippet do you use and how heavy is the tippet? Great video! I love those ponds you fished. I ride my bike and fish them😂 great video!
It depends on the conditions! I usually just try to get my flies as close to the bottom as possible, so depending on depth that’s how deep I run! I usually try and fish 4x tippet too, but some places you can fish 3x, and others you need to fish 5x!
Best urban spot I discovered (after getting back from deployment last year) was 21st Street Pond, in Ogden. Extremely dodgy area. Cops have actually found random dead bodies there. But starting first week of November the trout fishing was RED HOT. Nothing huge. There almost never will be in any urban fishery. But with a handful of spinners, small kastmasters, and small spoons, I got morning after morning of 10+ catch outings. Never, ever would have expected that kind of production out of such a place. I am hoping for similar results this year. Water just has to cool down a few more degrees.
Brad Torgersen so awesome brad! Seriously love urban fishing! Presents a challenge, and it’s just nice being able to fish close by! Thanks for your service man. You’re a stud. If you’re ever in the Reno area, I’d love to take ya fishing👊
Still cool you can catch trout in the city limits. You should hit up those canals around the airport. I’m always thinking of you when I drive past those
Just came across your channel! I remember you telling me that you fly fished when you worked at herms!
Haha that’s rad!! Glad we could reconnect!!

Can you fish in the great salt lake itself?
The truth Don't deny there’s really no game fish in the lake. There’s like shrimp and some small goby in the GSL. Kinda lame haha
What flies did you use at the park? I've tried a few times at that same pond and haven't had any luck
midges!
What park is that in the beginning of the video?
